Cayman Islands 0 Canada 11 (eleven)
Arfield not playing anymore he wasn’t in the team? Lucas Cavallini came on as sub and scored a hat trick in 8 minutes. Interesting player went to play Uruguayan football when he was 18 before scoring 30 goals in 80 games in Mexican Liga MX. Whitecaps paid $6 mill for him but he’s out of contract at the end of next season. Canadian / Italian dual citizenship. Built like a tank. In fact his nickname in Mexico was El Tanque

Hahaha I love a well reasoned, well thought out, well considered post.
No one garbage scores 1 in 3 in MX I watch a lot of it it’s brutal.
Gignac has scored 1 in 2 for years there but before that it was 1 in 3 for Marseille and Toulouse. I suppose 1 in 3 in Ligue 1 isn’t good enough for us now ??? Strange post.

Another game today. Mongolia 0-14 Japan

There are no easy games in international football.

Clearly having to switch their home game to Japan unnerved the crack Mongolian outfit.
I’ve got that Devo song in my head now.

A couple of thrashings tonight.
Belgium 8 Belarus 0
Gibraltar 0 Holland 7
It's results like this, and the ones mentioned above that are making international footy a farce.

Exactly! that's why I said the results mentioned above, how can anyone take WC qualifying seriously when you get several results like this.

Re: Cayman Islands 0 Canada 11 (eleven)
True but it’s always been like this certainly in the last 50 years. Some teams are much better than they used to be from memory..such as Luxembourg who we used to thrash by 7 or so many years ago. I don’t really think it is any more lobsided than it always was tbh.
I’m bored so I worked out Canada is over 38,000 times bigger than the Cayman Islands and yet they only won 11 nil the population is 578 times bigger too so they have a slight advantage.

Why? Why is it making footy a farce? Like it hasn’t always happened? There have been thrashings in World Cup finals all down history, let alone qualifiers. I’m sorry mate but that comment smacks of modern football fans arrogance. Why shouldn’t the little guy have a chance at glory. What is more exciting in the game than seeing a shock result? You’d never give USA as part timers a chance against one of Englands best sides ever, remind me again what happened in Belo Horizonte. Only a couple of days ago the unthinkable happened, ask the Irish. It’s the odd freak result that makes the game what it is, or should be. The other day we beat a team 5-0 but San Marino has a population the size of Accrington.
I don’t know about others but the last thing I want to see is ‘big’ teams playing each other all the time, even in the PL I have no interest at all in Liverpool v Utd or such games, I’d rather watch Morecambe v Forest Green.

Complete bust at Whitecaps last year. Scored 6 goals and I believe 3 were pens. I am Canadian, a Caps and National team fan but David and Larin are much stronger. He should go into UFC.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 6:07 amHahaha I love a well reasoned, well thought out, well considered post.

In fairness these minnows have to start somewhere, you only have to look at progress Scotland have made in recent years, now they are capable of drawing with Israel

Took him forever to find his feet and score so once he did those 6 came in quick succession

Interesting that Holland is referred to in those results. Anyone around in the 1970's was probably, like me, drooling at the 'total football' that became their trademark under the guidance of Rinus Michels and orchestrated by the brilliant Johann Cruyff. The ' 74 team arguably the best and despite the occasional blip Holland have continued to be a major force in world football.
Take a look at some of their results prior to that golden era in the 70's and you may be quite surprised to discover that they, too, were often seen as 'whipping boys' when internationals took place. There is room for everyone in world football and to be dismissive of certain nations sounds strangely like the attitude displayed by so-called supporters of a club like ours and their 'right' to be in the Premier League.
