England v Young England 1960
England v Young England 1960
Interesting video just gone up on YouTube, it’s (nearly) the entire 2nd half of the England v Young England match from 6th May 1960. The Young England side contains three of the clarets crowned champions just four days previously. The video starts in the 50th minute with England 2-0 up but the game finishes 2-1 with one of the Young England clarets having scored the goal.

Interesting bit of footage - the FA Cup Final warm up played at Highbury was a regular event at the time.

Yes, I remember them. Think it was billed as England v England U 23's and always played the night before the FA Cup Final when that game was probably the highlight of the football calendar.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 9:55 amInteresting bit of footage - the FA Cup Final warm up played at Highbury was a regular event at the time.

And I seem to recall they were always at Highbury. I've got a programme for one of them somewhere and I think it might be this game.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 10:27 amYes, I remember them. Well my hero had a shocker but still scored. Get in, Ray.
John Angus strolled through it, pure class.

Wasted careers. David "Bronco" Layne too.
I know footballers' wages weren't up to much then, but how much did they stand to gain against what they lost?
