Not sure whether he’s still there but it is called Seaclose Hotel and is on Banks Street.

Stayed there, admittedly over 10 years ago now, and the service was excellent

There’s a number of hotels to avoid in Blackpool , but Norbrek has got to be up there near the top of the list ,armed robbery when we stayed there ,also there was adjoining room with a wardrobe across where the door should have been , it was so bad it was funny , not sure how they have stayed open .

The 2 Travelodge places near the Pleasure Beach have been fine. Same for the 2 hotels owned by the Pleasure Beach (Big Blue & Boulevard). The Hampton by Hilton is also close by but have not stayed there.

Avoid any of the Britannia hotels unless you are proper desperate.

Norbreck used to have a reputation for escorts & call girls that used to stop there, I’m not sure if it still does, I’ve never been inside but the exterior is very grubby & needs a few licks of paint I often walk past on the circular up red bank road.

I took the kids the other year, we ended up leaving at 7am, it was horrific, by far the worst place I’ve stopped in my life and I’ve been to all the party islands as a lad with my mates and stopped in some dumps.

We had a blood hand print on the back of the door and a slug in one of the beds

It’s desperately wants condemning, I’m sat here laughing thinking about how bad it was

"and a slug in one of the beds "

Nothing worse than a hotel that allows hot bedding.

I've had the misfortune of staying in BOTH Metropole Blackpool and Britannia Portland St Manchester, for one night each.
Awful, in every single way. Avoid at all costs.

I always thought the best bet for the Norbreck was to rebrand itself as an ‘I’m a Celebrity’ themed hotel and make its shortcomings a feature.

I booked it on my phone an hour before I left and didn’t bother looking at the reviews, probably the only time I’ve ever done it

I told my children, if you don’t work hard at school this is the sort of place you will be holidaying in the future. Tbh, it’s unlikely I will ever stop in Blackpool again it’s horrific

Norbreck used to do "party weekends". suppose you don't mind a rough room when you're paraletic

I think that the Norbreck sums up Blackpool really. It was good40 years ago, still has the potential with great facilities, but has been left to ruin and desperately needs investment

They could convert the Norbreck into a Cat C Prison! They would have to do some upgrades to the rooms though!

Apparently, the locals have been demanding changes that would benefit the area - they want it to be turned into a reception centre for illegal immigrants.

To be fair Blackpool has had a tonne of investment over the last 10-20 years and continues to get it. The new sea front, the new bits round Blackpool North station, improvements to the Tower and Winter Gardens and the next step is regeneration of the area behind the Sea Life Centre that has been a car park for the last 30 years or so. Having lived on the Fylde coast for nearly 25 years (but am not there now) Blackpool is loads better than it was in the 90s and noughties.

The Norbreck however continues to be a dump.

The front at Blackpool is ok (during the day) but step beyond that by a single street and it’s like the Wild West, if there had been an abundance of smack back in Frontier times.

The Norbreck Site has to be worth $$$ so you have to assume they keep it ticking over as a hotel with minimal to no investment, waiting for someone to come in and buy it in order to flatten it and build a new Hotel on the footprint
