We were! Recently though, press asked Dyche if there was any prospect of him signing. Dyche said that they have spoken about a potential deal.
Well, you could knock me down with a feather.

Hearing about a rumour is analogous to guessing a conjecture.

I like your way of thinking. Pay him in Rubles. He'll think he's earning 50,000 a week when in fact it's just £494 a week. Get the contract in front of him and accidentally on purpose cover over the currency symbol.
Get a better deal in Rupees. It's only £488 per week

Mirror is reporting Lyon are prepared to let Cornet leave but they want to get a replacement in first.

Watford and Leeds also interested

Well no one on this board knows what conversations are taking place between BFC and Cornets representatives yet you are so sure it is us that is dithering. How do you come to that conclusion?

What would you do to bring the deal over the line?

Sounds like a very useful outing, even if we did lose 3-1. Sean Dyche noticeably absent. Perhaps he was in France cooking an omlette?

That’s interesting. Suggests he was doing something important.

Noises about cornet are positive both from Nixon and from elsewhere. Apparently they want replacement lined up first but we are now talking to cornet so we should hopefully get it wrapped up quickly enough once they have their replacement. They seem to want Emerson from Chelsea who I can see them getting quite quickly. Don’t personally believe the Leeds and Watford link as every bloody link gets linked to at least 2 other mid to low table sides.

I'm sure we were told that Aaron Lennon is simply with us to build up his fitness and to train with us. Similar to the David Jones situation a few years ago. Right?
I was told that was not the case and we were "looking at him"
But that was 3rd hand info

Cornet got sent off in the same game so he's probably not in their managers good books right now either .

I don't get this 'he doesn't want to be here' stuff. If that was true he wouldn't even be talking to us yet we are apparently making progress.

Berlin may be more attractive to him, but there is much more than cobbled streets and cotton mills here. The area has seen many former players take up residence locally.

If he likes the lights and sights of city life, Manchester and Liverpool are not a million miles away. Football-wise, he would be right on the doorstep of some of the biggest clubs in the country. There is every incentive right there. Catch the eye of City, Utd, Liverpool... who knows what his next step will be.

We know next to nothing about him yet he is being blindly judged because it would be an un-Dyche-like signing. We are calling for progression on our playing style, yet pick holes when we look for something different.

The mind boggles.
I don’t get it either. If he really didn’t want to come to Burnley then we wouldn’t be pursuing this.

Dyche like signings. As he himself said last week, all managers like to sign good characters but there are times when it’s right to bring in a player who is a different character and he mentioned Joey.

Yes, that was mentioned several times by those of us who watched the game live, but at least he seemed to be trying. In fact he looked very useful at times.

Indeed he did. He didn’t look like the most natural left back but he defended like our wingers do - which bodes well, by getting into position to block the cross. One thing which was blindingly obvious was that he is rapid. He looked like he was jogging back on recovery and he would easily keep up with whoever he wanted. I only saw him get forward a couple of times in which his link up play looked neat and tidy and he did put a couple of good crosses into the box - one of which should have been scored.

Alan Pace has admitted that he is impatient for change. The defeat by Brighton might just be the push he needed to offer just a bit more money to secure the targets Sean wants.

I have watched a few videos on him now, and for me he goes to ground and slide tackles way too often for the Premiere League, and would just get rounded, so I hope our intentions are for left wing rather than left back, and obviously move Dwight central

I might be wrong but I swear I read somewhere yesterday in his whole career he has only played 7 games on the right.

The rest coming either at Lb, LWB, Lm, LW

I don't have stats available but like you, I'm only going off what I've read and that's that he prefers playing on the right wing. He was utilised at LB by Lyon following injury to their two normal LBs and did so well, they made him first choice there.

I think he will be likely to get a deal, Cornet or not. We need four wingers and in all likelihood, won’t buy two.

The write up describing Lennon is quite vomit inducing, mind…

“ Lennon had put the Clarets ahead after 10 minutes when he ran onto a Vydra pass to calmly slot the ball past former Burnley skipper Tom Heaton, claiming the first Old Trafford goal of his prolific top-flight career.”

I think he will be likely to get a deal, Cornet or not. We need four wingers and in all likelihood, won’t buy two.
This. Cover for injury/suspensions. Incidentally. Dyche plays with inverted wingers so in answer to above posts. It wouldn't be unusual to play a left sided winger on the right.

Think was always going to be the case. Don't know why we are persuing him if he'd rather go to Berlin. Time to movbe on and try and sign a player that wants to play for us.
