Noises about cornet are positive both from Nixon and from elsewhere. Apparently they want replacement lined up first but we are now talking to cornet so we should hopefully get it wrapped up quickly enough once they have their replacement. They seem to want Emerson from Chelsea who I can see them getting quite quickly. Don’t personally believe the Leeds and Watford link as every bloody link gets linked to at least 2 other mid to low table sides.

I don’t get it either. If he really didn’t want to come to Burnley then we wouldn’t be pursuing this.Zom Zom wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 2:43 pmI don't get this 'he doesn't want to be here' stuff. If that was true he wouldn't even be talking to us yet we are apparently making progress.
Berlin may be more attractive to him, but there is much more than cobbled streets and cotton mills here. The area has seen many former players take up residence locally.
If he likes the lights and sights of city life, Manchester and Liverpool are not a million miles away. Football-wise, he would be right on the doorstep of some of the biggest clubs in the country. There is every incentive right there. Catch the eye of City, Utd, Liverpool... who knows what his next step will be.
We know next to nothing about him yet he is being blindly judged because it would be an un-Dyche-like signing. We are calling for progression on our playing style, yet pick holes when we look for something different.
The mind boggles.
Dyche like signings. As he himself said last week, all managers like to sign good characters but there are times when it’s right to bring in a player who is a different character and he mentioned Joey.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Indeed he did. He didn’t look like the most natural left back but he defended like our wingers do - which bodes well, by getting into position to block the cross. One thing which was blindingly obvious was that he is rapid. He looked like he was jogging back on recovery and he would easily keep up with whoever he wanted. I only saw him get forward a couple of times in which his link up play looked neat and tidy and he did put a couple of good crosses into the box - one of which should have been scored.

I have watched a few videos on him now, and for me he goes to ground and slide tackles way too often for the Premiere League, and would just get rounded, so I hope our intentions are for left wing rather than left back, and obviously move Dwight central

I don't have stats available but like you, I'm only going off what I've read and that's that he prefers playing on the right wing. He was utilised at LB by Lyon following injury to their two normal LBs and did so well, they made him first choice there.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 6:30 pmI might be wrong but I swear I read somewhere yesterday in his whole career he has only played 7 games on the right.

The write up describing Lennon is quite vomit inducing, mind…
“ Lennon had put the Clarets ahead after 10 minutes when he ran onto a Vydra pass to calmly slot the ball past former Burnley skipper Tom Heaton, claiming the first Old Trafford goal of his prolific top-flight career.”

This. Cover for injury/suspensions. Incidentally. Dyche plays with inverted wingers so in answer to above posts. It wouldn't be unusual to play a left sided winger on the right.
