Re: Team v Liverpool
Totally reasonable to have two keepers on a bench with nine subs. The lack of quality on the bench however is concerning.

Re: Team v Liverpool
That bench just speaks volumes re our recruitment (or lack of) over the past two or three seasons. It's awful. Two keepers and not too many viable options if we're chasing the game. We'll struggle without Westwood as well! Sorry if that's a bit doom and gloom, ha!

Re: Team v Liverpool
Worrying no Vyds or Westwood, if they're injured it's tough.
It's not a proactive line up with Ash starting, yet he had a great game at Anfield last season.
It's a cross everything and hope for the best game.

Re: Team v Liverpool
So you’re criticising Dyche’s lineup, pointing out how defensive it is, yet you’d make just one change and it would be to replace a striker with a defender?
Let’s face it, the team is pretty much the team. The problem isn’t the selection, it’s the stark lack of options.
Re: Team v Liverpool
You've missed my point. Not to worry though as it was a product of my sarcasm which doesn't always come across. It was a reference to the inclusion of Barnes when Dyche last week suggested he should play because he defends from the front. I have no problems with a defensive game plan at Liverpool, but my problem is the selection.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 11:47 amSo you’re criticising Dyche’s lineup, pointing out how defensive it is, yet you’d make just one change and it would be to replace a striker with a defender?

Am I missing something - Vydra seems to be missing.

I got the reference to Dyche’s comments but interpreted that you were criticising his selection. Yet you would only make one change, and that would be to change the system and replace a striker with another full back.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 11:50 amYou've missed my point. Re: Team v Liverpool
My problem is not with the selection of the starting eleven but the significant lack of depth in our squad. Today's squad exemplifies this - it's a ridiculous situation.

Weak team and lack of options again. Successive pitiful transfer windows come home to roost.

If you choose to reduce it down like that, fine. I think it's deliberately obtuse to do that, though. My view is that the change I would make would change the formation and change the way we are able to play with the ball.
Anyway, you asked me what lineup I would select, I've given it, you don't like it. Fine. Nothing I can do about that.

Re: Team v Liverpool
Yep. There's hardly anything to change a game at the best of times, as soon as we're a couple of players down we look completely threadbare - and there are more integral players than Westwood and Vydra who we could be without.
Re: Team v Liverpool
I would say that our lack of squad depth should be our greatest concern. If we don't strengthen it will be the weakness in our squad that presents the biggest risk to survival in my view.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 11:52 amThe lack of quality in the starting line up is concerning..

Re: Team v Liverpool
I just thought it was unfair to criticise the manager's selection given that the team practically picks itself considering the players available.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 11:59 amIf you choose to reduce it down like that, fine. Re: Team v Liverpool
Just pray that Cork or Brownhill not injured early on.Pitiful we dont have a recognised CM on the bench. And this is in a week we have few out injured
Re: Team v Liverpool
Sorry, I meant the bit about the team picking itself. That’s only your opinion.
I was criticising the selection. We discussed it though and we don’t agree, but that’s fine, it’s allowed. Enjoy the match.

A disgrace Barnes is starting. A big big defeat on the cards here. The bench is a joke

Re: Team v Liverpool
I assume the plan is if one of them is injured McNeil will go central with Pieters or Dodgson coming on the left.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:04 pmJust pray that Cork or Brownhill not injured early on.Pitiful we dont have a recognised CM on the bench. Shows how weak how squad is at the moment
Re: Team v Liverpool
Hopefully we'll dig in, frustrate them and catch a bit of luck on the break.
But shame on those behind the scenes for the state of our squad depth.

For a club who has been in the top flight for as long as we have that bench is an embarrassment.

Re: Team v Liverpool
Gone are the days of feeling we have an outside chance against any team. Our lack of depth is embarrassing. People can slag Dyche off until the cows come home, but his hands really are tied with such a small squad.
Re: Team v Liverpool
Lack of quality and strength in depth is absolutely frightening for a Premier League side. A shambles.
Re: Team v Liverpool
Our lack of depth COULD have something to do with the managers reluctance to shop in another market.Mrpotatohead wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:31 pmGone are the days of feeling we have an outside chance against any team.
