Maybe if McNeil is sold then it may be Cornet, Rhys Nelson or Christie, Lennon, AMN and Dickie or Nat Phillips in? Then again my alarm clock may be waking me from my dream. The next week could be exciting times !

How about Lewis Richardson off the bench?

We need players in now not wait until the next window
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Surely a fee of 3m or so Celtic would have to accept. They are pretty cash strapped as it is.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Southampton are sniffing too so I would prefer we just went in with the 5 and get it done.

It is easy to say just pay this or pay that and get him, what if the player has decided himself to wait til January and take advantage of his situation ?
You can't just force some one to sign.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We've paid £11m (up to £16m with add ons?) for Collins, we're on the brink of forking out £15m for Cornet, possibly £20m for Maitland-Niles.
£51m so far if we signed all three, it shouldn't be too difficult to throw a measly £5m at Christie should it?

So in reality it’s 15m for Cornet and 5m for Christie.

If we get those two, plus Lennon in addition to the signing of Collins it will have been quite a good transfer window.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 8:39 amI haven’t seen anything to suggest AMN is coming to Burnley?

And in reality, we paid £11-16m for Collins which you forgot to add to the £20m for Cornet and Christie.
Still, what's £31m these days?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We did bring in 10m or so from Gibson, Dunne and Benson though.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Interestingly Celtic are after a centre half on loan. Perhaps they'd be interested in Bobby Thomas as a sweetener for the season? Did really well at Barrow and is thought of highly by the Burnley staff. Dunne did very well north of the border after loans at Barrow and Accy so it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 7:41 amChristie

A swop for Kev Long might work.

Report in the Athletic this morning that Crystal Palace are after Nkeitah from Arsenal at 9m.
I would like us to be in at that price. Pace and movement for under 10m bargain.

Of course we do. The time for xxxxxxx about has gone. We need to get him over the line before Leeds. He wouldn't play, but the fact that we had a new winger on board would really give the Turf a lift for a game that we most compete in.

Just met Alan Pace at the Club Shop on my flying visit from Spain. Nice guy really chatty. On transfers been working hard all weekend, wouldn't give anything away. Laughed when I mentioned just gives us Cornet.
Also said clubs think we have money so makes negotiations difficult. plus Young deal was agreed until Villa came in!

If Hertha are selling to buy (Cornet), I’m pretty sure they’ll have let his agent know already and he’ll hang out for the offer, if that’s where he wants to go. Us “moving fast” as Nixon puts it, won’t make a jot of difference.BuryClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 10:47 amWe do need to move fast - apparently Hertha Berlin are selling Cunha to Athletico for 30m, which would give them the funds for a Cornet offer.

This Cornet transfer is looking all too familiar. Putting all our eggs in one basket and then dithering. Just hope it doen't turn out like previous windows where we don't get our man and then it's too late for alternative targets.

Those saying that we need to move fast are ignoring the fact that we can only move as fast as Lyon and Cornet want to move. If he wants to bide his time and wait for other offers then there's little we can do.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
As has said before, I don't think its fair to say we dither on transfers
We are likely to get gazumped by players that would defo improve us, because they will improve other, richer teams as well
Cornet would be a great signing, but we have to convince him and his agent to come here.
We can only do so much, and its waiting on their decision
And if it doesn't happen, then it doesn't happen, but you have to give full credit to the club for trying to sign a player who is clearly at a level above what we are

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Just over a week before we can all be certain of how good the transfer window has been.
We do need players in and everyone is saying that and I have noted a different tone to Dyche this season. Historically it's all been - we intend to do what we can and there is money to spend but at some point, there has always been that 'bringing everyone back down article' which usually states nothing is close type message and we just can't compete in this market.
It all seems a little more positive still so I am hoping as much as anyone else that we can sit back next week once the window has closed with some reflection and perspective that whilst we would have liked people to be on board sooner, we now have some new faces that will give us a chance to change things up a little in the personnel and add more pressure to the group to perform.

You'd hope that we haven't been naive enough to pursue him at the expense of all other targets though. Nixon seemed to intimate that we are going all out for Cornet. If it doesn't come off we could be left high and dry.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 10:56 amAs has said before, I don't think its fair to say we dither on transfers

I think that’s spot on. Put yourself in the position of the player though, wouldn't you wait to see if a better all round deal comes in for you to consider. I always have sympathy with our club at stages like this, it must be very frustrating being kept waiting but as always the player is in the driving seat.

I think if you are going for a player from a side that is in the champions league ever year, then you have to go all in, with all the risks that entails
We don't know how many players we are actually in for apart from Cornet, and you have to hope that the interest we are showing in him is getting through so that he's happy to come.

Wasn’t too upset that we missed out on Young at the time but what a signing he’d have been in retrospect.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Yep, and the only way to "make it happen" when you want is to throw money at it, and usually that means more than the player is worth in both fees and wages.beddie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 11:03 amI think that’s spot on. When you think of the calibre of player we have been linked with this summer (Cornet, Young - both playing in the CL last season), we’re clearly looking levels above where we have before. I wouldn’t want the fear missing out to deter us from being more ambitious.

We don't, but I can't get away from the thought that we have pushed our luck too far in the last few windows and this time we will regret it massively if don't make the signings that everyone knows we need.

Agents are not keen on relegation clauses… it means they may have to tout their players again or lose money should the worse happen.
That is not to say Burnley are not absolutely right to insist on them, along with the bonuses they offer out for a successful campaign. A much safer option for the club and incentive for the player.
