Be fantastic if this comes off. If we can add Hughes/Maitland -Niles and Christie as well by next Tuesday the squad suddenly looks a lot healthier!
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Looks like Hughes is going to Palace.

I reckon it’s all these awful puns putting him off signing.

Maxwell Cornet
Looks as if it’s going to be done, but where does he fit in ?
Most places say he’s a left back who can play left wing too, we have Taylor and McNeil who surely we aren’t going to drop ?
We need a right sided winger/right back not left.
Could McNeil be off or could he be switched onto the right hand side with Cornet on the left ?
We aren’t buying someone for 15 million to not go straight into the team ?

He can play right mid or up top too. Assuming he would go right mid unless we go back to 4-5-1 and McNeil goes in the 10.

Re: Maxwell Cornet
The frequency at which our wide men switch sides during a match I think the whole left sided/right sided midfielder concept is redundant now. I think if everyone is fit it would be:
Pope
Taylor, Tarky, Mee, Lowton
Cornet, Westwood, Cork, JBG
McNeil
Wood

He gives us a lot of options that we just don't have at the moment
Thats a massive positive whichever way you look at it

Re: Maxwell Cornet
I’ll worry about where he plays when he actually signs. Until then, it should be filed under ‘Grosicki / Lansbury’.

Re: Maxwell Cornet
That looks very good. Add to that a potential centre mid and/or right back option and it’s looking extremely positive.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 7:15 pmThe frequency at which our wide men switch sides during a match I think the whole left sided/right sided midfielder concept is redundant now. Re: Maxwell Cornet
He’s not really a left back. Has played both wings a lot and even a bit of up front. Will almost certainly play wings for us but could also play lwb with a back 3.
Re: Maxwell Cornet
He has played right wing most of his career so I’d assume he will play there but with the ability to switch sides with Dwight during games. Also gives us the option for him to play down the left, Dwight in behind the striker and JBG on the right. Won’t be left back anyway.
Re: Maxwell Cornet
Believe he can play both sides and is predominantly right footed.
Re: Maxwell Cornet
When he’s agreed personal terms and signed then I’d say he’d be on the right wing. I still can’t help thinking a disappointment is coming. It just all seems so unburnley like.

I can only assume that the people who seem to know so much about him watch a lot of French football. I’d never heard of him.

Reputedly fee payable in FIVE instalments...wonder how that works ? West Ham and Newcastle supposedly in the frame too..if it comes down to wages can't see us matching them.

Those two are reliable although I don’t believe all that info to be accurate. Even so I suspect Cornet might not be our next signingVegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 7:28 pmthat's not the latest !
Nicolò Schira says it's done (I've never known him to be wrong) and now Fabrizio is posting about it - I don't remember the last time he posted something that he didn't think would go through

I’ve seen him play a few times in champions league. I’d heard of him as a major prospect years ago. Never thought we would be able to sign him. Fingers crossed...

Only Lennon could be signed that fast.
Although we have been trying for others.

I’d be happy with Lennon to make up the numbers. McNeil, Cornet, JBG and Lennon doesn’t look bad.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 7:39 pmLennon guys

I know I’m in the minority but I thought Lennon did ok first time round. All gone quiet with him though.

All transfers are paid in instalments, usually over length of contract. 5yr deal, 5 instalmentsForeverly Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 7:29 pmReputedly fee payable in FIVE instalments...wonder how that works ? Decent players who can play in multiple positions are worth their weight in gold over a season
