Parking at Asda on matchdays - fines!
Just to give people the heads up - i've always parked at Burnley Asda on game days but after the Brighton game i've received a £70 parking fine for staying 3hr 2mins. They've installed cameras showing me entering and leaving the car park. Buggers! Beware ladies and gentlemen!

Why would anyone park at Asda? It's miles away.
But if you have parked there for years, then you have got your moneys worth.

We've always found it quick to get out as we avoid any traffic by parking at Asda. Does anyone have any recommendations for guaranteed parking where we won't have to queue for an age to get out?

I've always found Asda to be just about the worst the supermarket sector has to offer. Horrible.
As for matchday marking, isn't there a smallish car park just down the road from Burnley College? Turn right I think as soon as you drive under the bridge. Only 2 mins from where you'd usually park.

Park at the Bed shop near St James St
Go onto M65 near Asda then spinbround Band Q edit at Lomeshaye if you heading South easier than trying to join at Accy Rd exit to M65
Its £3 for 3hrs we tend to park at 2pm

Yes, we head over Colne way. Loving the stick for parking so far away! We'll have to have a re-think (and maybe find somewhere nearer ). Thanks for the advice ladies and gents.

Conversely some selfish bstard carrying 4 stuffed to the nuts ASDA bags nicked my regular parking spot on Todmorden road, I heard her mutter that ASDA is full of Burnley fans.

I always park on one of the streets behind KFC/McDonald’s. 20 odd minute walk, but only like walking from the train station. Close to M65 and no traffic at all

I think that one's contract parking only, car stack £2.50 for Brighton game, Pioneer £5.60 for the Cadiz friendly but free on Sunday for the visit of Leeds.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:54 amI've always found Asda to be just about the worst the supermarket sector has to offer. Horrible.

Blimey, it's not that far from Asda to t'Turf. Also, a bit of exercise might do some of you a world of good. Mind you, there are better walks to be had, and they don't cost £70.

I've had 3 parking tickets this year in Basingstoke and gotten rid of all 3 on technicalities
2 from the council and one from a private company

I’ve always parked on central train station and walked in from there but he car park was closed last weekend so I parked on Asda and got a letter through this week with a fine aswell. 2h26m they clocked me in and out, can see a lot of fines with people who do a family shop round Asda with the kids then nip to the MacDonald’s on there afterwards within 2 hoursclaretlegend wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:33 amJust to give people the heads up - i've always parked at Burnley Asda on game days but after the Brighton game i've received a £70 parking fine for staying 3hr 2mins. If you have a receipt that is proof that you were in those places and can be used for appeal, usually by going into the store and they will overturn itMyk wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 2:38 pmI’ve always parked on central train station and walked in from there but he car park was closed last weekend so I parked on Asda and got a letter through this week with a fine aswell. 2h26m they clocked me in and out, can see a lot of fines with people who do a family shop round Asda with the kids then nip to the MacDonald’s on there afterwards within 2 hours

Small point here but does the OP listen to Talksport? They suddenly switched a year or two back to referring to 'match day' as 'game day' as well. An Americanism I think
Re: Parking at Asda on matchdays - fines!
I think going in and buying a pack of chewing gum might work? Are is there a time limit ?
Re: Parking at Asda on matchdays - fines!
A good spot to park for a quick getaway if you live out of town and if you don’t mind a 15-20 minute walk is Piccadilly Road. Big long road and not too many residents with cars. I used to live on there years ago. Looks a bit rough but it’s fine, I’ve even risked parking my M4 on there, never had a problem. Easy to get to M65 or Accy Road once you have driven down to bottom of Piccadilly Road then turn first right over little cobbled road and bridge over railway line to Burnham Gate and turned left to roundabout.

I think the OP's mistake wasn't parking at Asda but choosing to go on the game rather than getting his shopping done and treating himself to an Asda all day breakfast.

He still would have got fined though if it’s going to take him 24 hours to eat his breakfast.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 8:09 pmI think the OP's mistake wasn't parking at Asda but choosing to go on the game rather than getting his shopping done and treating himself to an Asda all day breakfast.

I dont know what your pre match ritual is, however Sainsbury's and The Anchor shopping park ( Sports direct Halfords ) have 3 hours free parking, so if you arrive at 2.15 you get until 17.15, with the The Anchor NOT having ANPR cameras so you'll get a 15 minute+ allowance either side easily.claretlegend wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:33 amJust to give people the heads up - i've always parked at Burnley Asda on game days but after the Brighton game i've received a £70 parking fine for staying 3hr 2mins. Failing that you can park near the college on the bottom slip road facing back to crow wood/junction 11 where the old tip was, and you'll get free parking and only be a couple if minutes onto your usual commute.
If youd rather pay to be safer, then also near asda there's a car park under the viaduct and it's never full, again for a couple of quid you've got your usual area of parking for a quick get away.
Re: Parking at Asda on matchdays - fines!
The multi storey car park where the Angels used to be is only £2.50 for 4 hours, close enough and surely much more secure than parking on street.
And it's right next to the M65 for you

To save the hassle of fines, or dodgy on-street parking, just stick it on a car park and pay. It's not like we're in Manchester city centre or central London. Two to three hours in Burnley is little over £2.00. You can park up for 3+ hours for the price of a Turf Moor pie.
This reminds me of when I worked in the town centre. You would see the same car repeatedly driving around the town centre 40 minutes zones for ages, when it's only a quid to park up for an hour.

For all the banter, I bet people who live in Pendle and beyond, stay until the end and park over past Sainsbury’s can be home quicker than those that park nearer. In my experience much quicker.
Sainsbury’s is fine, but does mean you don’t get quite as quick an exit. You also need to time it so you only drive on to the car park about 35 minutes before kick. Still plenty of time to get to the ground. Same for Asda really, but you're putting a good 5 minutes on either way.

My Mrs drops us on the Belvedere Rd Bus stop ... goes shopping round Burnley and waits for us in the TK Maxx car park.
Evening games we park in the Tennis Club carpark on Belvedere Rd and pay the £4 (its been a while but it was £4 might have gone up this season) rarely are we held up too badly going home Saturdays and are in the Pub (Boars Head LP) by 5.45pm and evening games by 10.45pm.

I used to be Parking Attendant in town and it was always amusing watching the office workers scurrying around every 35-40 mins moving cars etc.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 9:45 amTo save the hassle of fines, or dodgy on-street parking, just stick it on a car park and pay. The amount of time they'd waste in a day was just bizarre and I was always surprised their bosses allowed it.

£2.10 for 3 hours up by the courthouse, and a quick getaway afterwards. If you don't mind the walk (which is good for you anyway!) it's the place to be.
Re: Parking at Asda on matchdays - fines!
Slightly off topic but we see cars with fine notices on them almost every home game. These are on the streets behind the Park View and it's because people have parked across the lowered kerbs. I understand this is to discourage parking that causes difficulty for wheelchair users etc. but the state of the roads and pavements around there make it almost impossible to see the difference between the lowered and non lowered sections of pavement. It's a gift every home game for the parking wardens.
