Welcome back to The little big man. Good for us and him. UTC!
Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
Listening to the match live for the last 25 minutes, and heard Lennons name mentioned twice, not a good sign

If he can recapture the form he showed against Bournemouth at home, he will be the signing of the season in the Premier League.

I suspect so. I think we’re aiming for an average squad age of around 35. Good lads.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 8:28 pmContract extensions galore..and the can kicked even further...

Yes , it is a step backwards even if he adds more experience to the bench.

I would be happy if he can recapture the form he showed for Spurs at the the Turf in our first promotion seasonVino blanco wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 9:27 pmIf he can recapture the form he showed against Bournemouth at home, he will be the signing of the season in the Premier League.

Learn from a former England international who’s struggled in his career with mental health problems , dealing with the media, social media nonsense etc etc the list goes on
Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
I think they might learn more by getting a chance to actually play in the first team.

Doesn't sound too good to me. This is a football club not a wellbeing centre.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 9:59 pmLearn from a former England international who’s struggled in his career with mental health problems , dealing with the media, social media nonsense etc etc the list goes on
Not only that, but who are these young players who are going to benefit? It's the proliferation of aging professionals (Lennon included) who are standing in the way of their route to first team football.

Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
Not at all. If you think signing a washed up player on decent wages isn’t a waste or resources then fine that’s your call.
It’s a desperate signing. No wonder large sections of the fan base are switching off.

Similar to Brian Laws, it’s not his fault he’s accepted an opportunity he shouldn’t have been given.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:09 pmIf that is the case it's the club's problem,

Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
Washed up? I'd suggest our manager is far too astute to sign him if he's washed up, definitely after he's been here for weeks training with us. And I'm not sure you can speak for large sections of the fan base, more so given he only signed about four hours or so ago.

Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
If that happens then he will have been given more opportunities on the field of play than I would like him to be given.
A few 10 minute cameos holding up the ball in the corner flag to preserve points is how I hope it pans out.

Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
Lennon has had a decent career at a high level, and the manager has clearly seen enough to think he’s a decent backup option. If he can find a bit of form from the bench then great, but what do you really expect from a player like Max Thompson who has been used as a make shift winger, or tied to be adapted in to a winger in the u23s? I’d love to see the younger players come through but if they aren’t up to it yet then we need other optionsboatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:09 pmIf that is the case it's the club's problem,

Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
He's not performed for more than a few years now, wasnt anywhere good enough the first time round. I have serious reservations on the managers astuteness on signings, even our old Chairman recognized this glaring weakness.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:16 pmWashed up? the fan base are switching off because of the bland football and signing old has-beens. it might have been confirmed an hour ago but everyone knew that once he pitched up for "training" that he was getting signed on. As Stan used to say, "even a blind man on a galloping horse" can see what Dyche is doing.

Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
Well if he was eligible to play today surely he must have been registered as a Burnley player before 5pm yesterday. Or maybe league rules of registration don’t apply for the Carabao Cup (is that an EFL comp?).
Anyway Aaron welcome back. I felt that in your last game of your previous spell here you looked to have finally shaken off any injury problems you may have had. You looked at least 10% quicker. I’m also guessing that your fitness continued to improve in Turkey. Hope you prove all the super knowledgable critics on here wrong. I’ll be supporting you and all the other players and if and when you need a word in your ear, I’ll leave it to the gaffer. Total support from me no matter what.

You are right in as much as we don't seem to have brought through any genuine right-wingers,Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:27 pmLennon has had a decent career at a high level, and the manager has clearly seen enough to think he’s a decent backup option. worse than that we have failed over the minimum of one season to put that right at any level.
My opinion on Lennon: he wasn't great 2 seasons ago and I very much doubt he's improved on that.
The thing that actually annoys me most is not about Lennon' it's ore the assumption that he, and other aging professionals, suddenly turn into some kind of chanding room guru, always helping out our young players.
Judging by the age of our first team our U23s should be the best mentored in Europe!
Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
If Lennon had signed for one of our relegation rivals, Burnley fans would have been chuckling merrily.
It's a joke signing whichever way you look at it.

Re: ARTICLE: Lennon back with the Clarets
Agree on the first 2, but how you can say Bardsley has been a waste of a wage is beyond me, for what we paid for him he's been a decent signing,
Admittedly he didn't feature much last season, mainly due to the form Lowton was showing, but he's a more than adequate back-up if required.
