Barkley would be a real coup for a club like us, but unlikely I think

Well that's us done for this transfer period, don't think we done bad, 9/10 Well Done Mr Pace and Co. Night everyone.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
8/10 for me. 1 signing that improves the first 11 immediately. But we’ve done some astute business. Would have liked to see a different creative option going forward but time seems to be against us now.

You know, the more i think about this, the more i wonder if we could/should have been in for him. Especially if he was willing to come in for that sort of money then be loaned out to the championship......ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 5:51 pmSima to Brighton is a weird one. Ripped up trees last season at Slavia, then faded massively and didn't really show much this season so far.
Now moved for 6.75 (was rumoured to have an asking price of 20m at the peak of Sima fever last season although that wasn't realistic)
Now he's been shipped out to Stoke on loan, the poor sod
With his style of play he might suffer the same fate as Vokes, but i hope not.
He's only been a pro for 18 months though so even at 7m or so its a risk

Would of preferred him over cornet.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:35 pmThat Fabio said we were interested in cucarella who Brighton got today?

Alan Nixon also got Defour wrong, his words were to foreign and expensive for us.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:35 pmChris Boden has been spectaculary wrong on Burnley news several times.
He ran articles saying we definately werent signing Defour and Barton.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
That’s the case for most of the ‘other 14’. Look at Wolves last season with Jiminez.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:40 pmJust missing that little bit of creativity in this window - Cornet alone won’t suddenly make us score a lot of goals.
I am pleased with the young RB though - a bit unnerving to hear him say (paraphrasing) that he isn’t very good but runs a lot, yet I find that refreshingly self-deprecating and I suspect we’ll find him to have decent quality after all.
A lot of pressure on Wood still though, and I mean a lot.
If we don’t manage to recruit a cm/cam, then it won’t be through lack of trying. The signing of Cornet gives us the option to play McNeil in that 10 though, doesn’t it? With JBG out right?
This window has been phenomenal, and beyond all of our expectations. We’re clearly trying to right the wrongs of the last 6/7/8 windows, but it was fanciful to think we could do it all this summer.

It’s not about being ‘wrong’, journalists from local papers don’t make predictions.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:35 pmChris Boden has been spectaculary wrong on Burnley news several times.

it will mean assists come through each wing rather than 1 and therefore giving the opposition more to think about and stop them putting 2-3 players on Dwight, which may free him up more also.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:40 pmJust missing that little bit of creativity in this window - Cornet alone won’t suddenly make us score a lot of goals.

Not sure why people think Boden, working for the local paper, is in a position to post every morsel he knows. Bridges burnt before he can press ‘publish’ if that happens.
I expect he can be in quite a frustrating position at times, knowing stuff that he can’t possibly publish and having to respond to queries with his limited range of stock answers. The rules of engagement are totally different for a local reporter, as opposed to some sky news hack who can basically throw it all at the wall and see what sticks.

When’s the deadline for players moving out on loan to lower league clubs? Richardson, Mancini may be going out on loan now we’ve padded the squad out?

We cant afford anyone leaving we need Mancini and Richardson to push on with first team roles.Sean just needs to trust them with time on the pitch not using them as bench warmers

'Put me down in that awkward place of not wanting Barklay because I don't think he is a good footballer and we cannot afford him to be a passenger. By 'good footballer', I mean he has all the skills but cannot put it together.
I see him as a useful sub when we are chasing a game. He can come on and change the dynamic. That, for me, does not warrant massive wages. I'd rather wait.
'Awkward place' for me because I would be pleased with the intent it shows to sign someone like him. It would give the place some energy, in that regard.
Overall, I just don't want him given the expense.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
No doubt we have added to our creativity, two players on the right flank who will come straight into our starting lineup after a brief settling in period, and Roberts set up a huge number of chances last season in the league below. That’s why I was being tongue in cheek about him implying he is just a runner, he must be more creative than, say, Lowton.
I still think huge pressure on Wood though, mainly because his three mates don’t score many and neither do our widemen.
A very good window because it has addressed 4 glaring weaknesses, two in the first team and two if a key first team member is injured. Not a sensational window, but a very good one.

Maybe Alan Pace is reading Twitter and just bidding on players that catches the imagination of fans.

Fabrizio also just said no way on Weston McKenzie

I wonder if we are playing the long game with barkley in order to get a better deal on his wages, currently no-one else is linked with him.

With who? i see what Boden has said but you never know? maybe we should tell SSN to keep up? I think you will find I have spent many hours trying to bring in all the conjecture, bo!!ocks or not as soon as I see it to this thread in an effort to keep all informed.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Unless one comes out of nowhere then I think this could be us done. Brilliant window leaving in us in a much healthier position than we were last season.
Hopefully we’ll stay injury free but if we don’t it isn’t going to hurt us too much. UTC.

Surprises me, you’d Everton, Southampton or Crystal Palace would want him.claretandy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 7:37 pmI wonder if we are playing the long game with barkley in order to get a better deal on his wages, currently no-one else is linked with him.
How are you going to get past that you’ll need to £100,000 a week though for the player who’s not match fit.

He’s earning an obscene amount of money, and his contract runs out in 2023… he’s doing right staying at Chelsea.
Burnley can’t afford him. And if we did sign him, look forward to being the next Bradford, Portsmouth or Bolton in ten years time

Thing with these loan deals for players on huge wages, they have to go down to the wire as Chelsea would be squeezing as big a contribution as possible out of the interested club

Look how much money we spaffed up the wall with that deal… I know you can’t predict the future, and getting jumped in a club can happen to anyone. But you need to invest correctly. He was never going to be match fit for returning even if he didn’t get attacked. Much better off with Brownhill

McNeil will step up when he leaves, James has stepped down.
These details matter.
