a much better windo than I expected and provides promise of what is to come in the future, hopefully :)

Really looking forward to seeing these new players in action over the next couple of months

Thank mate. I get the need to point out other people's crap I've done it myself but I'm all about being able to be honest with myself and admit when I've been wrong or need to change. It's nothing to be ashamed of, it's all part of development and life. Thank you for your well wishes and good luck to you in your endeavours too!
You guys should hook-up.....could be a match made in heaven.

Can you say who the others were Tony ? I think you mentioned earlier one was Christie ?
I’ll keep one to myself, a player on loan who might yet join us.

The other three were
Connor Roberts
Ryan Christie
Lee Kang-in

I’m not convinced with Palace. A lot of new faces and not the best quality either.
You don't have to be, just please be convinced by ours that's all I ask, cornets the 1 I feel is the 1 to be excited about & it's critical he performs the rest will have a bit part to play i feel, maybe Roberts more if he plays his way into the first team reckoning.

8/10 for me, just missing that marquee number 10 to give us the option to go 451.

We’ve got Dwight for that role if needed, with Cornet and JBG on the wings.

Some interesting things being done with contracts at the back end of this window. Never seen so many contracts being offered to be canceled or ripped up.

Didn’t Vydra come having previously played as a 10, before Dyche got hold of him and moulded him into a more advanced striker?

I know he’s persona non grata at the moment after dialling it in a little on Sunday, but he’s an option too. With a relatively modest number of new players in our flexibility has increased massively.

There are still plenty of contracts to be ripped up freeing players to sign outside of windows.

No of course not, any team such as Brighton Southampton Newcastle etc could potentially get relegated, but it’s sensible to notice key players missing from a side when that said side is struggling & also envisage that when these key players return that a possibility/probability could exist that a upturn in form/results will happen especially coinciding with winnable fixtures, it’s hard not to notice unless you reside in a deep dark cave wearing a blindfold.

HOUSE!

Wouldn’t be a transfer window closing without this question being asked.

LOLOLOL lets celebrate we finished 4th bottom last season and we have started this season 1/9 points and we have bought players from Stoke (a understudy), Swansea (a player nobody has wanted the entire transfer window), a 34 year old goalkeeper as a back up and Cornet who could be anything but for one reason or another wont see out his contract at this club.

For people to be popping corks over a great window just shows how far we have gone down. If we had a match saturday none of the 4 "great" signing would be playing, great improvement.

Some people just don't realise how good this window has been ;)

And you forgot to mention Lennon

Think we'll be pushing for Europe again this season

Completely agree with this. Doesn’t score enough goals to be a 10. Dwight is a fantastic player when he plays on the left.

A good window! I don't have anything to complain about with the signings. The only reason I wouldn't label it a great window is because we're still a little short in some areas, in my opinion. Of course, this is largely due to our failings in transfer windows gone by -- we just gave ourselves too much work to do. At least we have gone some way to addressing what is an ageing squad. We definitely needed some younger players in with potentially good resale values. Hopefully we can continue to improve the squad in the next windows.

The concept of a “great” or “good” window is a little odd isn’t it? It’s judged largely on money spent/volume of signings before most folk have seen most of the players kick a ball.

We got in players in several of the positions they were needed. We probably only lacked a central midfielder. In that sense it’s been successful.

How good a window it’s been can only be judged at the end of the season. There are lots of examples of clubs spending fortunes without a great deal of success following on the pitch. It’s not that long ago that Fulham spent almost £100m in the summer window and got relegated. Likewise the year Middlesbrough fans took the **** out of us after their exciting summer and went the same way.

They have to be out of contract by the time their own transfer window shuts to be eligible for registration with us.

Loans have to be made during the window.

Free agents (those who had no contract with a club prior to their transfer window closing) are available to sign.

As I read it. Only emergency loans but there have been instances over the years of players being announced the day after deadline due to technical issues, special dispensation for various reasons.

So if a club cancelled a player's contract today they wouldn't be able to sign for anyone until the window opened again? Didn't we have to wait to sign Barton second time around?

Average age of the five players brought in is 27.4 so not so much of a change to an ageing squad

Still ended way short in cm where the average age of our four is over 30 and four strikers who will struggle to score over 20 goals between them

Seems to be a lot riding on Cornet to bring something new to the starting eleven

Well, that's another argument entirely. A change is a change, regardless of how small! I was largely referring to the more long-term signings of Collins, Roberts, and Cornet. I agree with regard to central midfield and our strike force -- both areas that I agree still need improvement (and hence why I consider it a good window but not great). All just one man's opinion. I'll happily admit I'm absolutely clueless

A great window which will allow us to have a bench that looks something like this-Hennessy, Roberts, Pieters, Bardsley, Collins,Cork, JBG, Barnes, Rodriguez, Stephens, Lennon. In fact some might not even make the bench. Far better window than I envisaged two weeks ago

We signed Barton inside the transfer window. He was let go by rangers in November. He may have trained with us before we signed him.

If someone is still under contract when the window closes they can't be registered for another club. That doesn't mean they can't sign in advance for January though and it even doesn't mean they can't train or play for us, it just can't be in any competitive game.

Early hours. Maybe it was a very late one, possibly sneaked in, possibly not and is a wait and see if it meets the requirements needed for special dispensation. Maybe an agreement has been made for January as mentioned above.

Think I got Lee Kang-in right when guessing. I’m going for Amad Diallo being the other one, who didn’t join due to injury.

Yet only Collins, Cornet and Roberts have been signed as players signed to go into the starting 11 eventually but by adding the back up signings in Lennon & Hennessey you managed to turn a negative, well done.

I think we have put some important building blocks in place this window. The squad desperately needed that. Well done, we really seemed to be very busy all over the place trying to make things happen. Onwards and upwards.

Pretty sure he's joined Mallorca.
Both - contract cancelled by Valencia but he's signed for Mallorca

When did Tony post about a potential loan that might still join us ?
Can't join us now, the window is closed, but I thought he might still be a potential target in January.

Poss saved money on Roberts as well, due to his injury and having to wait to go in for him.

Great window, improved the squad immeasurably on last season.

You would think that such was the desire for a number 10 yesterday, that perhaps the club will be well prepared to nab one in January, potentially.

Before this thread is put to bed, maybe we should reflect on and celebrate its finest moments.

For me, the short-lived excitement provided by the Brazilian fella (Arthur? Albert?) who briefly followed BFC on Instagram was a real highlight.

Arthur Gomes wasn't it? What a joke that was.
