You don't have to be, just please be convinced by ours that's all I ask, cornets the 1 I feel is the 1 to be excited about & it's critical he performs the rest will have a bit part to play i feel, maybe Roberts more if he plays his way into the first team reckoning.

8/10 for me, just missing that marquee number 10 to give us the option to go 451.

We’ve got Dwight for that role if needed, with Cornet and JBG on the wings.claretandy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 6:00 am8/10 for me, just missing that marquee number 10 to give us the option to go 451.

Some interesting things being done with contracts at the back end of this window. Never seen so many contracts being offered to be canceled or ripped up.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 1:19 amI’ll keep one to myself, a player on loan who might yet join us.

Didn’t Vydra come having previously played as a 10, before Dyche got hold of him and moulded him into a more advanced striker?
I know he’s persona non grata at the moment after dialling it in a little on Sunday, but he’s an option too. With a relatively modest number of new players in our flexibility has increased massively.

No of course not, any team such as Brighton Southampton Newcastle etc could potentially get relegated, but it’s sensible to notice key players missing from a side when that said side is struggling & also envisage that when these key players return that a possibility/probability could exist that a upturn in form/results will happen especially coinciding with winnable fixtures, it’s hard not to notice unless you reside in a deep dark cave wearing a blindfold.

For people to be popping corks over a great window just shows how far we have gone down. If we had a match saturday none of the 4 "great" signing would be playing, great improvement.

Completely agree with this. Doesn’t score enough goals to be a 10. Dwight is a fantastic player when he plays on the left.

A good window! I don't have anything to complain about with the signings. The only reason I wouldn't label it a great window is because we're still a little short in some areas, in my opinion. Of course, this is largely due to our failings in transfer windows gone by -- we just gave ourselves too much work to do. At least we have gone some way to addressing what is an ageing squad. We definitely needed some younger players in with potentially good resale values. Hopefully we can continue to improve the squad in the next windows.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
The concept of a “great” or “good” window is a little odd isn’t it? It’s judged largely on money spent/volume of signings before most folk have seen most of the players kick a ball.
We got in players in several of the positions they were needed. We probably only lacked a central midfielder. In that sense it’s been successful.
How good a window it’s been can only be judged at the end of the season. There are lots of examples of clubs spending fortunes without a great deal of success following on the pitch. It’s not that long ago that Fulham spent almost £100m in the summer window and got relegated. Likewise the year Middlesbrough fans took the **** out of us after their exciting summer and went the same way.

They have to be out of contract by the time their own transfer window shuts to be eligible for registration with us.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 7:42 amThere are still plenty of contracts to be ripped up freeing players to sign outside of windows.
Loans have to be made during the window.
Free agents (those who had no contract with a club prior to their transfer window closing) are available to sign.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
As I read it. Only emergency loans but there have been instances over the years of players being announced the day after deadline due to technical issues, special dispensation for various reasons.

So if a club cancelled a player's contract today they wouldn't be able to sign for anyone until the window opened again? Didn't we have to wait to sign Barton second time around?superdimitri wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 8:46 amThey have to be out of contract by the time their own transfer window shuts to be eligible for registration with us.

Average age of the five players brought in is 27.4 so not so much of a change to an ageing squadwilliamjblazkowicz wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 8:32 amA good window! Still ended way short in cm where the average age of our four is over 30 and four strikers who will struggle to score over 20 goals between them
Seems to be a lot riding on Cornet to bring something new to the starting eleven

Well, that's another argument entirely. A change is a change, regardless of how small! I was largely referring to the more long-term signings of Collins, Roberts, and Cornet. I agree with regard to central midfield and our strike force -- both areas that I agree still need improvement (and hence why I consider it a good window but not great). All just one man's opinion. I'll happily admit I'm absolutely cluelessjojomk1 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 9:02 amAverage age of the five players brought in is 27.4 so not so much of a change to an ageing squad

A great window which will allow us to have a bench that looks something like this-Hennessy, Roberts, Pieters, Bardsley, Collins,Cork, JBG, Barnes, Rodriguez, Stephens, Lennon. In fact some might not even make the bench. Far better window than I envisaged two weeks ago

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We signed Barton inside the transfer window. He was let go by rangers in November. He may have trained with us before we signed him.
If someone is still under contract when the window closes they can't be registered for another club. That doesn't mean they can't sign in advance for January though and it even doesn't mean they can't train or play for us, it just can't be in any competitive game.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Early hours. Maybe it was a very late one, possibly sneaked in, possibly not and is a wait and see if it meets the requirements needed for special dispensation. Maybe an agreement has been made for January as mentioned above.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 8:53 amWhen did Tony post about a potential loan that might still join us ?

Yet only Collins, Cornet and Roberts have been signed as players signed to go into the starting 11 eventually but by adding the back up signings in Lennon & Hennessey you managed to turn a negative, well done.

Great window, improved the squad immeasurably on last season.
You would think that such was the desire for a number 10 yesterday, that perhaps the club will be well prepared to nab one in January, potentially.
