If only the same positivity being shown to Newcastle FC and it’s ‘long suffering fans’ where shown to our own club on here!

Listening to the radio yesterday and apparently they've had 14 years of turmoil. Makes you think what the country's just had for the last 18 months and what seemingly lies ahead for the foreseeable future.

Big fuss when they signed keeganarise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 9:20 amI do think talk of Newcastle signing mega stars is a little premature, regardless of their wealth.
There are only so many top players to go round and that is a very competitive market already with clubs that have deep pockets and history both long term and short term already in there!
Throw in the fact that Newcastle really is the frozen north and not as desirable as London and Manchester and I don’t think it will be as straight forward as people think.
Comparisons with China and that Russian team that bought players are fine but how many genuine world starts followed that path? The ones that did were on one last pay day.
I expect that’s where Newcastle will be in the short term, good players topping up their pension pots…..what happens after that, time will tell.

Re: Tarks & McNeil
I would not be surprised if we sell Tarkowski in January. It might be Newcastle because he’s better than what they’ve got and they might fancy him before they go big .
Yes , selling to a relegation rival would not be popular but Pace needs money to take us forward.
Glad Collins is getting the chance to show what he can do

If Tarks is going to Newcastle who’s their new manager?

Re: Tarks & McNeil
You know bud I cried about it as well, but after reflection I’m not sure it was that bad an idea. The absence of the ‘big six’ (or is it five now as I’m not convinced the Gooners now qualify) would be a welcome idea, opening up the PL to more competition and less whining players and managers. Perhaps they should go play in there own closed shop and enjoy all their wealth and their preening players. Meanwhile we could get back to what happens on the pitch without the side competitions of who pays more for players and who has the biggest bank account.

It seems you've travelled further and wider than myself and maybe a lot more on this site but I'm still intrigued to know what you witnessed in Oman and Dubai that seemingly makes the actions of the Saudi regime pale into insignificance. The general public were certainly poorer in Saudi but from what I personally saw the workers were treat considerably better than in Dubai and Oman.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 3:59 pmIt seems you've travelled further and wider than myself and maybe a lot more on this site but I'm still intrigued to know what you witnessed in Oman and Dubai that seemingly makes the actions of the Saudi regime pale into insignificance. On regular basis I saw hundreds of workers sleeping on construction sites with next to no amenities at all. Plus they got paid considerably worst than they did in Saudi.
From my experience Saudi was not the most pleasant place because it was quite third world. However it is certainly not what many posters on here make it out to be. For example I never saw anyone get beheaded or stoned to death in the street.

In my personal opinion I just couldn’t tell Saudi Arabia apart from other Middle Eastern countries. It did not seem to be any worse.
Kuwait was the only Middle Eastern country where I felt they had actively tried to adopt western culture

Hell, I bet you even worked in all of the seven emirates that make up the UAE

I worked in cinema construction. Based in the U.K. travelling to different areas of the world to build cinemas. Obviously spent a lot of time in various Middle East countries due to the finances the cinema companies had.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 4:29 pmSo what do you do for a living, that saw you work in Saudi, Kuwait, Oman and Dubai?

But that must a highly specialised field, a company that just builds cinemas?

Back to the original topic, I thought Tarks and McNeil would possibly be a level below the calibre of player they wanted. However with the Mcparland link I can certainly see this happening now.

So because McParland is going to Newcastle they’ll now be buying a lower calibre of player? And you can definitely see McNeil and Tarkowski signing for Newcastle because someone has made a totally random suggestion on here?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 4:42 pmThankfully I was very fortunate and managed to get a role in a different sector of construction.

I remember when you suggested that Brazilian player we were linked with was a done deal because he followed BFC on Instagram. How does your mind work?

Yes I can see it happening. McParland worked with Tarks at Brentford and helped bring him to Burnley. It would make sense with the recent links in the paper for him to go there.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 6:22 pmSo because McParland is going to Newcastle they’ll now be buying a lower calibre of player? I think Newcastle will be setting their sights a bit higher than Tarkowski, even in the short term.
Re: Tarks & McNeil
They certainly won't be able to convince top players at any big club to suddenly give up a chance of silverware to play for a side in the lower reaches of the PL come January though.
Re: Tarks & McNeil
Might be an idea to raid their relegation rivals of good players for the near future.
