New Claret induction completed
Hi all, I'm not sure if this will work, but my Grandson attended his first match against Spurs and now a fully fledged Claret. I wish we had all the technology we have now when it was my first match, to capture that look of WOW when you first get in the Turf

He will never forget that day! Always a special time and, despite it being over 65 years ago, I can still remember the excitement and being overawed when seeing the crowd and the noise was unbelievable.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 8:04 amHi all, I'm not sure if this will work, but my Grandson attended his first match against Spurs and now a fully fledged Claret. After seeing your posts ClaretAL regarding your wife passing away, it is great to see you looking well and making lifelong memories with your grandson. I hope you all enjoyed the day, that first half will see him wanting to come back for more!

Thanks Claretburns. With losing my wife, it kind of puts things firmly in perspective around priorities, and yes he is already asking. As soon as I can get 3 seats near to where my son and I have our season ticket, I will get him a season ticket, but don't want to move too far from where our seats are now as been there for years.claretburns wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 11:40 amAfter seeing your posts ClaretAL regarding your wife passing away, it is great to see you looking well and making lifelong memories with your grandson. Re: New Claret induction completed
I remember bringing my son on't Turf when he was only 4 (he's now 32).
It was against Brighton and we lost 1-2 but the noise when we scored frightened him to death and I thought he would never want to come again, but he couldn't stop talking about it to his mum when we got home
Fast forward 28 years and he's still a season ticket holder, just like his old dad.
Good luck bringing your grandson ClaretAl, once they've been bitten.....

Can relate to that and I was close to tears when I went on the Liverpool game last season having been away for so long.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 4:41 pmBrilliant video. I still get excited when I see a floodlit football pitch (especially Turf Moor) and I'm 60 !
Re: New Claret induction completed
Football isn’t football without walking towards the flood lit ground in the distanced, 47 layers, 17 pairs if socks, wet through, shivering like a shitting dog and finally walking up the steps to see what appears to be a fluorescent pitch. Nights games are special. Colder, wetter the better.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 4:41 pmBrilliant video. Re: New Claret induction completed
Took my boy to his first games, this season, at the age of 5. He's done better than expected, maintaining attention for most of the game.
There are no words to describe the pride I have when he broke into his first 'Come on Burnley' chant.

Same for me. My 5-year old has been to two games (would have been three but he was poorly on Saturday) and he's hooked. He walks round the house shouting "Burnley" and "Maxwel".

Re: New Claret induction completed
Great pics and vid ClaretAl, glad your grandson enjoyed his first visit to The Turf.
My grandson (9) has his first ST this season sat with me and there's something very special about seeing his expressions and just sharing the whole matchday experience with him (though sadly neither of us could be there this Saturday)

Nice one ClaretAl , you can tell by the look on his face it's a day he'll never forget . None of us needed modern technology , our first visit to the turf will be stored in our memory forever . I was lucky just like your grandson it was a night match ( Eintracht Frankfurt ) , and seeing the pitch/ground under floodlights was awesome.

A wonderful little story. The look on that little lad's face is something to treasure.
