The arm is above his head in an unnatural position. Whether intentional or not, putting your arm above your head like that is asking for trouble. It is a penalty.
absolutely, why he put hand up like that is stupid, i would have been lying on the pitch hoping the ball didn't hit me

Some are the Faroe Islands for one, but the likes of Leichenstein & San Marino are simply cannon fodder.
Yes, they seem to have improved.
I wonder if they wouldn't benefit more through a tiered qualification process.

No disrespect to Kane, who is a fantastic finisher, but Charlton and Lineker didn’t score any of their international goals against a youth club team.
Holland, Luxembourg, Rep. of Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Belgium.???

Charlton got a hat trick in an 8-1 win against the USA, a hat trick in a 9-0 win against Luxembourg, a hat trick in an 8-0 win against Mexico, another 2 in a different game against Luxembourg and another goal in another match against USA this time in in an 8-0 win.
Whereas Gary Lineker once scored four goals against those minnow whipping boys Spain.

The Nations League has the right idea by putting teams in groups of similar ability and ranking, but how you could manage that during a qualifying process I'm not sure.

I didnt mention Lineker but he also scored 2 in a 5-0 win against the USA, 3 in a 5-0 drubbing against a hopeless Turkey side, another 3 in an 8-0 win against hopeless Turkey, 4 goals against the mighty Malaysia so he also banged a few in games that were big mismatches

Every country has the right to compete to get there but there should be the need to have some sort off preliminary round, like we do for the FA Cup.

If you are not in the top 40 UEFA teams then you need to play preliminaries to get there

Sure, but the point I was making in my first post was that I have never seen an international side as poor as San Marino. Consistently poor too.

I had a little chuckle at Ramsdale managing to get miles out of position, the fact he made a save probably covered up his panicking
Thought the lad did well in that instance. Can’t understand why people feel the need to constantly criticise him, I can only think it’s because Pope hasn’t been picked. Ramsdale is only 23 so plenty of time for him to keep improving.

I'd go further than that. I think Ramsdale has the potential to be England's number one for many years to come.

Well that will be because, on this specific occasion, he got himself in no man's land.
i am not having a go at his game in general, but that sort of error against decent opposition would very likely result in conceding a goal.

If the tiny countries were showing any improvement then there would be an argument for their inclusion, but they are not.
Not sure how a country with a population about half the size of Burnley can really improve.

Been suggested on this thread but the only way of avoiding too many of these games is to have some kind of qualifying competition.

Not sure how it works out numbers wise but anyone who finishes bottom of the Nations League, Group D I mean, shouldn't qualify for the qualification of the next major tournament. If you finish bottom against the other 3 teams in your group, who are also of the lowest ranking, should be enough to say you ain't up to it in normal qualification. The same way some teams get play off spots for finishing at the top.

Inspirational words from Lee Dixon when goal number eight went in with 21 mins to go. He said: “This could be double figures.” It’s good to know that we can get an expert’s view of the game.

Seems like a total charade, designed to let the referees save face whilst wasting another couple of minutes.
