Re: Vaccine passports at Premierleague grounds from this weekend
Seen as though omicron variant is thought to evade vaccine’s and just transmit like normal perhaps everyone should also have proof of a negative test. Or how about a yellow armband for those with vaccines who haven’t done a test. Could even shuttle those un-tested into the Jimmy Mac upper as far away as possible from everyone.
Re: Vaccine passports at Premierleague grounds from this weekend
None of the vaccines provide any protection at all against being infected, and they never have. They can't, because infection is acquired by breathing the virus in.
The point of vaccines is, and always was, that once you are infected your body will fight off the disease because it has been primed to do so. If the vaccine works to perfection, you will never know that you had the infection. If it works a bit less well, you will get some symptoms. If it doesn't work at all, you may die. But if someone with no symptoms gets tested randomly or (for example) as part of their job, they may very well test positive even though the vaccine has worked to perfection.
This particular virus appears to spread early in the infection cycle, while both vaccinated and unvaccinated alike have few symptoms. That's why both delta and omicron spread pretty freely even in a largely vaccinated population. But then while the vaccinated body is fighting off the infection with ease, and with likely no symptoms and no reason to suspect they had it, the unvaccinated body is still marshalllng its forces and learning how to deal with the disease. Hence they get symptoms and possible serious illness.

If you want to pretend that this is similar to Jewish yellow stars then you need a serious lesson on what the holocaust was
If you think its remotely similar to this then words fail me

Re: Vaccine passports at Premierleague grounds from this weekend
How else can we know who is likely to have the virus and who isn’t? We now know all vaccinated can transmit the virus (be it Delta or Omicron, with the latter looking more likely to further evade). Seen as unvaccinated are now being categorised and blocked from attending I don’t see why we can’t go just that one step further.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 3:31 pmYellow armband?

This has been explained numerous times. If you still don’t get it it’s not really worth anyone’s effort to go through it again.RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 3:36 pmHow else can we know who is likely to have the virus and who isn’t? Massively disrespectful as well
But hey ho, this is the UK in 2021

And just try Googling that professor and see his recent history, ‘dishonest’ and ‘reckless’ are words you see bandied around.

Yes it’s massively disrespectful for those who have done the right thing and got vaccinated to then be sat next to those who could have omicron.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 3:40 pmMental

No, its massively disrespectful to the memory of millions who died and it being compared because you can't go to a Burnley match
I'm sure it makes sense in your mind but you are going to have people pointing out that it really, really doesn't
Re: Vaccine passports at Premierleague grounds from this weekend
I just to tried to view my covid pass on the NHS covid application. It came up after the second attempt (first time it said servie unavailable).
It expires in one months time. Not sure why a paper copy can be used as proof indefinitely but the app needs to be reloaded every month.
It’s looking like this is going to be another difficult winter!

I tried to find this in English but it’s from Denmark’s main news channel (DR Nyheder) showing that circa 75% of omicron cases are of double vaccinated.

Which manager was it that compared their teams display to the Holocaust, the other week?
Quite why the Holocaust can ever be used as some sort of comparator, I have no idea.

Re: Vaccine passports at Premierleague grounds from this weekend
Why you talking about the holocaust? Literally has nothing to do with it. Odd.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 3:48 pmNo, its massively disrespectful to the memory of millions who died and it being compared because you can't go to a Burnley match

Barton, and he's proper bonkers at times (check out Bristol Rovers current disciplinary record, its a proper car crash)
He's the one who bought up yellow armbands mate, not me

Re: Vaccine passports at Premierleague grounds from this weekend
This worried me as I was in Austria and noticed it was about to expire when I showed it at check in, I asked what will happen on my return, they explained the expiry date relates to the QR code at the time of logging on, it renews automatically as it gets closer. It never expires and continues to update and record your 1st and 2nd vacs, booster(s) and any test result(s). That proved to be correct thankfully.DCWat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 3:54 pmI just to tried to view my covid pass on the NHS covid application. Re: Vaccine passports at Premierleague grounds from this weekend
Got nothing to do with the holocaust. Just trying to find solutions to slow the spread of omicron. It’s being shown that those double jabbed aren’t as protected and it’s only a third jan that is (see Pfizer’s release today). Plus it appears omicron, admittedly from low data so far, transmits just as normal through vaccines as it would anyone. Maybe we close footy for now for those with triple shots only?Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 4:01 pmI didn't bring up yellow armbands mate
You did
Which, btw, is more than "odd"

Course it hasn't, you just happened to pick yellow armbands completely at randomRVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 4:09 pmGot nothing to do with the holocaust. In fact it will take ages to get people into ther ground. Its ridculous. Everything today is a hyped up drama.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 2:24 pmThey’ll need a few hundred extra staff at TM to check passports - ain’t going to happen

What has a yellow armband got to do with the Holocaust? Wasn't it a yellow star of David on a dark armband or sewn on to fabric?Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 4:11 pmCourse it hasn't, you just happened to pick yellow armbands completely at random

How about a sticker or badge instead ‘I’ve been tested’ it would helped ease peoples concernsLancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 4:11 pmCourse it hasn't, you just happened to pick yellow armbands completely at random

Yes but its the colour and his suggestion that it should be used to differentiate between the vaccination and unvaccinated
Somebody else came close to making the comparison on the 1st page
Suffice to say that linking the holocaust to the very mild stuff that the anti-vaccinated actually get is all over social media, along with various bonkers theories on the vaccine.

Its just a little bit too close to the Holocaust Yellow star isn't it, especially if its being used as a means of segregation/identification...
We don't need armbands, or stickers etc, we have apps that cover all that.

It happens in most schools everyday, the stupid kids who believe what they hear on YouTube are in the bottom class and the more intelligent children are in the top set.

How about leper colonies?jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 2:29 pmThere is no historical context for segregation that is in anyway similar to Covid-19 vaccine uptake, it’s not racial or religious and therefore not something you are powerless to change - it’s a choice. If you choose to not take the vaccine, for whatever reason (barring a met dical exemption, which to be clear is totally separate to how I feel) you must do so knowing that choice will infringe upon your civil liberties.
That was made quite clear from the start. It is pointless standing your ground on vaccination and also moaning when you knew what your choice would result in.
Re: Vaccine passports at Premierleague grounds from this weekend
Fairly shocking that people don't see a problem with members of society being excluded from life because of a medical decision.

What’s fairly shocking is that people are still pushing the notion that anyone will have to be vaccinated to go on a football match when it’s been stated several (million) times that a negative LFT will do.
