When you see Ben Mee....
Jogging back just before their third, you know it's time to pack our sh1t up and f*** off to the Championship.
Did 2 minutes later as well.

There’s only so many times I can watch him hitting aimless balls towards the corner flag this season. Awful.

I noticed that. Didn’t see the second occasion as I’d left. If he’s doing that it looks like our heads have gone.

Re: When you see Ben Mee....
Ben Mee does not seem the same player he has done and I don’t mean in terms of ability.
I started a thread the other week on the subject of his contract and how it was affecting him, I’m now certain there’s something to it.
He’s in that same boat as many in probably refusing to discuss a new contract with us (as it’ll contain a relegation clause and we’re nailed on for relegation). As a result, he won’t be the same player. Would you be? He and Tarky are both waiting on a massive final pay day from Newcastle, West Ham etc at the end of this season - and there’s every chance that now we’re in 2022 their agents are already getting their offers to show them. That’s going to impact your performance, you might be more reluctant to make the big tackle and do your ACL etc….
I hope I’m wrong, and I love what Ben Mee has done for Burnley but there’s no loyalty in this sport. His loyalty, rightly, is to his family. Another I think is a certainty to go.

I think Ben is happy where he is. He has already earned enough to be set for life and is captain of a club he now loves. Even if we do go down I think he will stay. Money, when you have enough and are happy is not always enough to leave.

Re: When you see Ben Mee....
Wake up to yourself fella. Mee is getting pelters today because he didn’t play well and didn’t lead by example, which is something he has ALWAYS done.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 4:23 pmBen Mee now getting pelters....I think that completes the whole squad. Dyche is getting it because of his predictable and monotonous pre/post match briefings failing to acknowledge what we have all just witnessed, and failing to set a side up to win a game against a severely depleted side who happen to be a relegation rival.
Garlick is getting it because of his lack of investment when he held the reins. He was far too interested in jumping ship and lining his own pockets than leaving the club in good shape.
No one has given the tea lady any hassle, you added that because you think it adds something to your argument. It doesn’t.

I dont think its in central defence our problems lie. I guess our two CH's are becoming disillusioned with our failure to take chances, and the pressure and cover they are getting from midfield

Re: When you see Ben Mee....
Explain. I can understand the comments relating to our investment over the years not being high enough. I can understand the comments based on that lack of investment and the resulting lack of competitiveness we now have.
What I can't understand are the comments regarding players not caring, Dyche not having a clue, Dyche having lost the dressing room, Dyche and Stone having no idea regarding the coaching side, Dyche's predictable post match comments, players not trying and so on. Endless criticism based on supposition and perceived wisdom. Bullshit in other words.
It is an insult to Dyche and his staff to suggest any/all of them are neither interested nor committed enough to lead or play for the club.
The meltdown on here today and the tantrums that have accompanied it - now they are pathetic.
The simple matter is that our squad is not good enough to give all but the poorest sides a good game over 90 minutes and hasn't been for a number of years but Dyche, without much credit from some on here, has had the squad over-performing well individually and as a unit.
Time and effort have taken their toll on the players - Dyche, too, no doubt- but we're two points behind for God's sake.
Re: When you see Ben Mee....
Pathetic comment because supporters who have the audacity to criticise Dyche or lack of effort from players and bearing in mind have got 1 win in 20 are branded as undercover Blackburn fansevensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:12 pmExplain. Maybe you've overlooked that fact that they are our relegation rivals and have unlimited funding. They can unsettle us massively by talking up big money deals for our key players, and could even afford to buy our best players and not even play them in order to fatally weaken us.
In fact the former is exactly what I would be doing in their position.

The flaw in that masterplan is that they could just buy far superior players to ours without the need to take ours, to be honest with the way ours are performing Newcastle will be desperately praying that mee stays with us.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:26 pmMaybe you've overlooked that fact that they are our relegation rivals and have unlimited funding. Re: When you see Ben Mee....
You missed the bit where I said simply talking up their interest in signing him on a big money deal unsettles him, our plans and our team. Ultimately they don't need to sign him, (as you said they could sign better), but by unsettling him and potentially disrupting us they can significantly weaken us. You could argue that something is affecting Mee's game now. Is it transfer speculation?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:30 pmThe flaw in that masterplan is that they could just buy far superior players to ours without the need to take ours, to be honest with the way ours are performing Newcastle will be desperately praying that mee stays with us.

Re: When you see Ben Mee....
He’s always had a mistake in him and it’s becoming more frequent , he’s never had pace or goals ( per se) . And his distribution is mediocre at best .Though , as a standard bearer of the “ Burnley way” and club captain he appears immune to criticism .He’s an unshakable brave heart alright but sentimental whimsy has no place in a team as poor as ours .

Central midfield is where our biggest problem is the back four gets very little cover, they don't close down in midfield, they block very little and they give the ball away to much, and therefore putting the back four under pressure.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:48 pmI dont think its in central defence our problems lie. Re: When you see Ben Mee....
We were a distant second best to a struggling Leeds team that started Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas in the middle.
The same Adam Forshaw that didn’t play a single game last season, and only 7 games in the Championship the season before.
And the same Stuart Dallas who despite being incredibly versatile, has only played 1 game in his last 50 as a central midfielder.
There are no more excuses to make. Today’s result, and more importantly the performance, is incredibly telling.
A number of players are no longer putting the required effort in. When that happens, the outcome is inevitable. It’s either relegation, or a change of manager.

Re: When you see Ben Mee....
Newcastle aren't going to be able to attract a real world class CB in Jan because of a number of factors, not least being in the bottom 3 for one.
Mee and Tarks would be excellent signings for them due to them being OOC in the summer, they can double their wages if not more, give them one last real pay day with a 2/3 yr contract and then by the time they've reached the end of them deals they'll of got better CB in as they'll be higher up in 2/3 seasons time.

Let's go back to the start. You said Mee was dithering over a contract. I questioned this as to my knowledge he hasn't been offered one (and agreed with another poster who suggested uncertainty over next year could be affecting his performances).
So, before we debate Collins starting, I'd be keen to know if there is any information on Mee's contract offer available or whether you made up the "dithering".
As for Collins, he is clearly the future and pleasingly has not looked out of place when he has played. Should he be starting? I'd say yes, but based on what I know about who will or won't be at the club next year, I would play him instead of Tarkowski.
