I've been so positive this season and honestly believe we haven't got what we've deserved. But not yesterday, awful and against a very ordinary Leeds side.

Spot on report. Probably one of our worst performances of the season so far given as you say, Leeds were by no means exceptional. Cornet’s free kick was outstanding though.

Sums it up well .I thought Adam Forshaw was lucky not to get at least a yellow card twice he went into reckless tackles that went unpunished.He was laughing after both can only think that he was laughing becauce he got away with them.

I thought Charlie Taylor was good on his return to Elland Road, but aside from him I don't think anybody else did well. Even Cornet was on the periphery of the game after his sublime free kick, but that was to be expected really.

I can only hope those whispers coming out of Turf Moor about a quiet January prove to be inaccurate, as it is difficult to see this team staying up without a couple of quality reinforcements. Having said that though, I've no idea what our finances look like anymore, so might not be possible. We'll have to hope.

Yep, plenty of games off the top of my head where we haven’t got what we deserved:

Brighton H (L) - Deserved to win
Leeds H (D) - Deserved to win
Arsenal H (L) - Deserved to draw
Norwich H (D) - Awful game, but certainly deserved to win
Leicester A (D) - Fair goal ruled out at the death?

Even United away, we did enough to draw but just didn’t take our chances which has been the story of the season.

I feel the postponement of the Watford and Everton games was the killer. We’d have won that and the Everton match with their injuries, I firmly believe that. Would have been a total change of atmosphere around the place ahead of the window and Leeds match.

Yesterday was inexcusable though and, as you called out, a stunning lack of desire was evident. Mee and Tarkowski have never looked half arsed in their time at Burnley, but I can’t describe them yesterday as anything but that.

A worrying situation indeed and your report is much as I saw it and could not have been pleasant to write but thanks anyway.

I agree that the lack of recruitment has certainly not helped us over the last few years. The rumours of ‘a quiet transfer window’ is therefore very worrying and flies in the face of all the ‘exiting times’ talk.

MOTD2 was worth watching last night if only for Alan Shearer's excellent comments on our performance

Spot on report, exactly as we saw it. We look like a veterans team 10 years after retirement. Don't see how we get out of this one, nobody of the class we need will join with a relegation clause for when we go down.

The Championship is good, I'm kind of looking forward to it again, it's just the getting relegated bit that's s**t.

You are so right. When you are relegated you soon get used to playing a division lower but, as you say, the relegation bit is horrible.

I think that's the first time I've left a game this season with serious concerns. I know we've only won once but previously I was seeing enough in games to suggest we would get out of it.

Sums up my concerns. I'm more anxious about going down under the current owners than the previous ones. Let's face it, it's about when not if but the sooner it happens the worse it is now, whereas that wasn't so much the case before.

Thought Dyche looked rocked at the start of the on the video on BFC Twitter last night, he can't fix this, there are no ideas left. He's tried to change it, it hasn't worked.

He has banged on the squad is good enough when in reality we haven't been so for the last two years. Just just 3 worse teams.
Too many haven't got the legs for this league any more, especially back to back games were the players aren't fresh enough = Mind Heart Legs!

We've needed more Pace for a long time, the midfield hasn't been good enough since the days of Defour and before that Barton!

This quiet transfer window needs a very quick rethink and we should take the cup game very seriously for once, if nothing else to get some confidence on board.

This sums up my exact thoughts perfectly. Apart from not making the trip - so swap that with turning off the stream.

We are in a league that will swallow teams like ours without serious backing. Unless we have the ability to spend 30-40m for 2-3 decent additions who can affect the team, I am resigned to it being mission impossible.

Great Report - needed saying.

This situation was all too predictable for the last 2 to 3 years.
The lack of forward planning investment and people sailing off with the BFC cash built up within the company (through non investment) and then ultimately converted to a a loan by the new owners was never going to benefit Burnley long term in its fight for Premier league survival.

I read somewhere that when ALK were originally looking to buy an English club, it was more likely to be a Championship club with funds they had available, they might now just have purchased one.

Wishing for a New Year miracle and a massive change in our fortunes and hoping the Manager and team can turn it round.

An honest assessment CT, and apart from the lack of intensity and desire, it's telling that we've effectively still got the brunt of our first XI that we had back in 2018, and naturally they are 3/4 years older now, and that visibly showed yesterday against a vibrant youthful Leeds team.

No they weren't great, but they wanted it more than us, and their superior fitness told in the end.

Despite only being 2 points shy of Watford, the whole mood around the club is low, and although we've pulled off escapes in previous seasons, this campaign has a completely different vibe, on and off the pitch.

A decent Clarets away following, and at least they saw Cornet's belting FK, but one man doesn't make a team, and that one man is now jetting off to Cameroon for who knows how long, but likely a few weeks anyway.

MOTD highlights, (if they can be called that) showed Leeds to be quite slick, but I wasn't there to witness the full game.
Pity Cornets goal couldn't have been our match winner, what a strike. He has been a revelation since his arrival. And what a return for him after his lay off.
Despite the loss, and goals against us, we live to fight another day.
Far from over for us, Hopefully we will bounce back, I believe we will anyway.

Agree with the report and Tony’s comments above.

I don’t think desire disappears that quick (e.g. compared to Wolves away when we were stubborn) so more likely we just couldn’t get the energy back after Man Utd while Leeds had a good rest.

A 7 day rest is beneficial, a 18 day rest isn’t. That’s the rub and It’s untair on Burnley but we have to just crack on. Let’s hope that against the odds for the home games at least we’d have failed to beat Watford, Villa and Everton (without Cornet lets not forget) but that we get some luck in the rearranged fixtures.

Leaving the ground on Sunday I felt depressed and angry at the shocking performance we had put in. What made it worse was that while we were reduced to aimless hoof ball from the back, Leeds were making incisive passes down the wings and producing exciting, attacking football; I envied the Leeds supporters the quality of football their team produced.
