Phil Jones
Starts for Man Utd against Wolves.
I remember people on here saying he wouldn’t get in our team when there was rumours of a loan.
I’d drop both Tarky & Mee for a fully fit Phil Jones.
A regular in the England team before a career blighted by injuries.
All the best to him even if he is an ex *******, still only 29 aswell so plenty of years ahead if he stays fit.

I remember one posters crazed insistence he would be signing for us.

Re: Phil Jones
Christ, Unitedmust be desperate.
Re: Phil Jones
On his day a very good defender and if fully fit very talented, but sadly for him he's incredibly injury prone.PadihamThickNeck wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 4:34 pmStill only 29 aswell so plenty of years ahead if he stays fit.
Re: Phil Jones
I think people questioned his injury record rather than his ability
Re: Phil Jones
Imagine how good he’d be coming from our youth system and his injury record?

Re: Phil Jones
Wowzers! his 1st start in 707 days, is that a record between appearances for a player who hasn't moved club in the meantime, must be close I reckon.

Re: Phil Jones
United sounding distinctly average again, and Wolves edging the play.
Jones has played his part in Utd keeping a clean so far though 35 minutes in.

Ronaldo looks like he can’t be bothered…
Re: Phil Jones
Ronaldo might be thinking he should be on the other team with 6 Portuguese in the side !

Re: Phil Jones
Because it was so long ago few remember just how hot a property Phil Jones was, had it not been for his horrific injuries he would have been a fixture for England for many years. He really could take his pick when he moved from Rovers, he was always a class act, just so prone to injury.

Re: Phil Jones
United’s best player by all accounts.
He’d be plenty good enough for us if he could stay fit. He’s a level above our usual players.

Re: Phil Jones
Utd are apparently willing to listen to offers for him in this transfer window and want him gone.
Re: Phil Jones
Injury free a fantastic centre-half. But the amount of injuries he's had makes you wonder whether he'd be any good for us.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 9:49 pmUtd are apparently willing to listen to offers for him in this transfer window and want him gone.

Re: Phil Jones
Thankfully our days of signing injury prone players in their 30's are well and truly at an end, can't see Utd getting much for him considering his contract ends in June, I guess they just want off their wage bill.
Shame for the guy his career hasn't progressed as many expected it would during his early years at Utd, a mere 169 PL appearances in 12 years shows just how ravaged by injury he has been, 6 PL appearances over the past 3 and a half seasons sadly doesn't suggest to me that his body is capable even of being an asset at lower league level either.

Re: Phil Jones
Happen just as well we are unlikely to ever find out, completely the wrong sort of profile you could compile a lengthy list, but as you correctly say peak injury free a very good player but some would say thankfully passed us by.

Wonder if he’ll end up back at Rovers? Can’t see another Prem club coming in for him

Re: Phil Jones
I’d be very surprised if any club in the top two divisions would want him purely on his injury record. America bound for me.
