If it has been written into his contract, little Burnley can do to stop it.

No concrete rumours but some Newcastle fans seem to think it’s £22M.

No, that’s just a release clause that allows Chris Wood to talk to other clubs. We don’t have to let him go at all if we don’t want, so I suspect the fee will be very high considering.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 6:37 pmTwitter is suggesting the release clause is between 7-10m

Honestly if Wood is going we should try and get some money for Tarkowski, nothing will prevent us going down this season.

It sounds like a transfer that we may well not have been prepared for, if it’s the activation of a release clause.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 6:39 pmWell if we weren’t going down before we certainly are now.
Chris Wood on good form, would be a miss. Chris Wood in this seasons form - less of a miss.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Keep the faith we could always stick Kevin Long up top with Dale Stephens playing just behind.

I just saw this too and heard it’s a VERY reliable source. I came here to ask if they were reliable.
I hope Wood isn’t going. Heard the fee was 22m on his release clause. Tripp’s and him have the same agent.
In other news I heard Taylor Booth on loan from Bayern Munich with an option to buy. Just speculation but, it fits the boxes. From Utah, American, creative up and coming midfielder.

Not overly fussed if we get £20m.. as long as we use the money can get in someone like Alfredo Morelos for half that.

Prepare for the championship, I posted this to Alan on Sunday...
Think 30m for Tarky and Wood would be good business, and I'd be bringing in
Ben Davies Liverpool, ex PNE captain, 26, left sided CB. They got for 2.5m last Jan, so 7m should do it.
Dan Neil, Sunderland , 20 CM 3m
Lyndon Dykes QPR 26 ST, 10m , mobile target man 17 in 53 for QPR, 6 in 20 for Scotland
Fulgini , Angers, 25 Number 10, Attacking Mid, represented France at every level upto under 21, Ivorian, so knows Maxwell, available for 10m.
4 in should cover by the 2 leaving easily
Play Collins for Tarky, new lad back up, groom him to replace Mee from the summer onwards in the championship.
Start setting us up now to bounce straight back up.
We don't want to be flapping about on August 30th.
Hopefully it all happens although if we get 25m for Wood, there's more cash to land another player in preparation.

Can’t help but feel that is the nail in the coffin of this season.
Wood scored 9 goals in 15 games last season that kept us up.
I can’t see where the goals are going to come from now

Interesting times. He’ll do well alongside the pace and movement of ASM. I hope we spend the money wisely now on new Championship ready players.

It’s a release clause. Don’t blame the owners, they weren’t even in charge when Wood signed his contract. Although I don’t think £22 million for a 30 year old non firing striker is a bad deal for us. £22 million can still buy you quite a lot, look at cornet for £13. We need to reinvest this wisely.

Nketiah on loan would be a wise choice now with the option to buy. Almost guaranteed to start. Then use the remaining funds to put towards 2/3 young promising players that will do well in the Championship. Dan Neil 3m for example.
What will more than likely happen is lumps Kieffar Moore or Lyndon Dykes for 10m. Or Ighalo on a free.

Hi ksr, just reading the news, like everyone else.
I bought my ticket for Arsenal yesterday morning. £11.25 for a senior and, as I live down in London area, my "freedom pass" means I've no travel costs. Seemed a very good price at the time...
Now, I'm wondering who will be in the Burnley team...
But, if the club agreed a release clause with Chris Wood it's a number they've always been aware of. Maybe there are other things that will happen if Chris Wood moves up to Newcastle.

Two huge winnable games upcoming. Cornet away. Wood sold. Vydra.. who knows, so we are going to see Lennon and Jayrod up front, aren't we? (barring covid casualties) That's not good.

Some favour that agent is doing Burnley.

It’s not that bad a deal. £22m is profit and he’s been rank rotten this season. Jay/Vydra have hardly played as Wood has been the golden boy as far as Dyche is concerned.
As long as we don’t go and pay silly money for the likes of Lyndon Dykes then this can be positive if we use it properly. Morelos for me please.
