Re: Ranieri sacked
Rats I hoped TM would be his last game, given how trigger happy the Watford owners are it's perhaps a surprise he's lasted this long.
Got to hope they don't get a new manager bounce now.

Teams always sack their managers before they play us. Annoying because they will likely be up for it more now.

Could work both ways this, the players may have liked Ranieri and throw the towel in.

I expected that to be honest after the last game, the lights have certainly gone out for Ranieri.

there's every chance they could sack their new manager before they play us as it's a couple of weeks away

Who would want that job, anyhow? Someone who wants a quick payday only, surely....or desperate? Anyone seeing it as a serious or in any way long-term career option must be bonkers.....

They need Colin. With all his earthly powers.

To be fair they could probably stick a Watford fan in charge and still be able to beat us a lot.
Re: Ranieri sacked
If sacking the manager meant an improvement in results, then why aren't Watford top 4 every year?

Nothing on BBC sport website just now but Telegraph has a small piece including.....
"Watford do not play again until February 5, when they travel for their re-arranged fixture away to Burnley and it is understood that the club want to make the change quickly to give the new man as much time as possible to prepare for such a crucial fixture."

Colin was on Talksport this morning and they asked him if he'd be interested in Watford if Ranieri got sacked and he said anyone would be as it's a guaranteed pay off in three months.

Re: Ranieri sacked
So when they play us they’ll be without their best player and have a new manager who’ll have had no time to put his system in place or recruit new players from the other clubs that the owners have. Excellent!

It wouldn't surprise me if they try and get Silva back.
Re: Ranieri sacked
Surely this basket case of a football club won’t be wasting another massive wedge of cash getting another manager in on a decent long term contract? I think they will go for BFS for the rest of the season with a massive incentive bonus factored in if he manages to keep them up.

Re: Ranieri sacked
Apparently this Watford model of constantly hiring and firing managers is to be admired and one we should emulate, I've read on here in the past.
They don't seem any better off than us for doing it, but hey ho.

Re: Ranieri sacked
Watford - the least safest manager job in football
Burnley - the safest manager job in football
Watford - could be out of a job after 4 straight losses
Burnley - probably still in a job after 40 straight losses

Ermm, I understand your point but even Dyche wouldn’t be keeping his job if we had 40 straight losses.

Re: Ranieri sacked
Diego Martinez the current favourite. Ex Sevilla assistant and managed both Osasuna and Granada, achieving promotion with the latter. Don't Watford owners own Granada as well?
Re: Ranieri sacked
I presume Watford are also one of those clubs where the manager has no say in who they sign or sell. They are basically there to manage a group of players, regardless of style.

Re: Ranieri sacked
Why would he be interested, he's on course to take Fulham up, and there's every chance they'll be swapping places with Watford in a few months.
I genuinely don't understand what Watford's owners expect, for a club of their size they're about where you'd expect them to be, and the revolving door approach has hardly served them well has it.
Bizarre club potting the manager every few months, and surely not a sustainable method, however they continue to operate in this madcap manner, and somehow it sort of works in a fashion.

This was inevitable after the weekend, but I was hoping he could squeeze one more game in. Hopefully it will not have the effect i does at other clubs because it happens so regularly.

It's served them well enough - six out of the last eight seasons in the top division.
They are a complete footballing non entity though.

Re: Ranieri sacked
I don’t think about it that often as it’s like “well that’s just so Watford” but it is maddening that they’re in the league with the best 20 clubs in the country with their managerial changes. Have they even spent THAT much money when compared to the rest of the league? Do they even need a manager? Why bother?tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 6:58 pmWhy would he be interested, he's on course to take Fulham up, and there's every chance they'll be swapping places with Watford in a few months.

Why did you need an abbreviation for Ducks Arse?

Arse was a bad word in those days and. DA was a style of haircut

Reports coming out that he has secured his next role already.
He’s been quoted he hopes this is the role that actually gives him a chance to deliver something.
