Not sure as I’m not very tech savvy but think he’s followed us very recently.claretgoss wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:19 amHe follows half the Premier League teams to be fair (as well as Chris Wood ) So wouldn't take that as much of a sign.
Sounds like he'd be a very good addition though!

Can't edit my post, but would just like to qualify the "I don't pretend that I'm always right" to just football. I've been proved right on stuff we can't talk about far too many times sadlyLancasterclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:17 am"I question"
Unlike some posters on here, I don't pretend that I'm always right
We have Vydra, Rodriguez, Barnes and Cornet up front at the moment as options (I take your point that we are not sure how fit Barnes is going to be)
Cornet is clearly more than good enough, and we've seen in patches that the other three can be (though again, its not been for at least a season for Vydra and Jay, and longer than that for Barnes)
"I question" whether he's an improvement on those options, and to go into further detail, I wouldn't "question" it if the fee was £10 million, but I would if the fee was £20 million
Now, if you'd like to explain to me where you got the Andy Carroll stuff from I'm all ears
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Brownhill is mobile and athletic I’d say. Personally I think we need a central midfielder with excellent technical ability, similar (admittedly won’t be as good) to Defour. We need to improve our composure on the ball to aide better retention and progression.ClaretFelix wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:21 amLike many others though, I'd like to see an additional central midfielder too, preferably with a bit of mobility and athleticism

There are flops from the Eredivisie, off top of my head:
Vincent Jansson
Mateja Kezman
Memphis Depay
Ryan Babel
Ricky van Wolfswinkel
The fact Weghorst has gone to another country already and ripped it up (a higher standard than the Dutch league) is promising, but clearly it’s a gamble. What signing isn’t though?

And lest we forget Jan Venegoor of Hesselink and that outstanding Brazilian talent who must have been awesome because he scored 6 goals in one Eredivisie match - Afonso Alves. Both shocking in The Premier League.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:25 amThere are flops from the Eredivisie, off top of my head:

Maxi Arnold, Weghorst' team mate is the central midfielder we need. Recently broke back into the Germany International setup

Why are we referring to the Dutch League when this chap has a 1 in 2 record in the German league.
It’s the equivalent of only judging Jamie Vardy on what eh did with Fleetwood.

Just been reading that Weghorst has been very much ‘anti-vax’ which may have resulted in him falling out with a few at Wolfsburg. Interesting given Pace’s comments recently that players who refuse the vax should look to take up another profession. Btw please don’t take this into an vaccine debate but it is clearly something we have to consider. For a starter, he’d have to do 10 days quarantine wouldn’t he? Secondly, would it cause a rift amongst current players?
(Must state he may have had it since but the comments I see were from just a few months ago)

I’d personally hope that has no baring whatsoever, particularly when it comes to signing players of his quality. I’d be hopeful that commercially AP will see we need a striker or our chances of staying up are massively reduced, and that will take precedence over any personal beliefs.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 10:15 amJust been reading that Weghorst has been very much ‘anti-vax’ which may have resulted in him falling out with a few at Wolfsburg. More broadly, I’d doubt we are 100% vaccinated and we’re a club that promotes and encourages vaccination over compelling it or discriminating over the hesitant.

I didn't think much of it at the time, but Will Hughes in the Summer would have been great for us. I'd naively wrote him off because he doesn't get many assists or goals but he does the simple stuff well.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:23 amBrownhill is mobile and athletic I’d say. Orsic deal close to completion?
Ryan Taylor: Understand Mislav Oršić expected to double his current Dinamo Zagreb salary at Burnley. Completion of deal seems only a matter of time. Croatian club now focused on signing a replacement & have bid for Argentine winger Martin Ojeda.

Athletic reporting we are confident of completing a deal with Wolfsburg for Weghorst. Bid made and negotiating personal terms. Also that there are few complications with Orsic regarding agreeing the fee with Dinamo but the player has said his goodbyes to staff there and wants the move.

"Can I get a Wout, Wout, fella's y'know, Weghorst runs the show"
As per the classic, "1,2,3,4 get with the wicked" by Richard Blackwood.
I thank you, and good night.

As long as he doesn’t get injured, he’s still going to be available for Watford if he plays that game so it’s no big deal if it’s all done I guess?
