Your team vs Norwich

Post by Superjohnnyfrancis » Sat Apr 09, 2022 5:58 pm

Mine would be

Pope

Lowton. Collins. Tarks. Taylor

Lennon. Cork. Brownhill. Cornet

Vydra

Jay

I really do hope Westwood doesn’t get another free pass to make even more errors after the last few games .

Pass to feet , high tempo , it is a must win again

I'm not sure Vydra is fully match fit so would have to be Wout and Jay upfront. Great impact sub to have tomorrow.

Lowton is a must start for me and didn't deserve to be dropped in the first place.

Pope
Lowton Tarky Collins Taylor
Lennon Cork Brownhill Cornet
Wout Jay

If that is the case then I would have Wout just behind Jay Rod to feed him the passes he needs and swop him out for Vyds after 70 mins

I would start Vydra and look to get 60 minutes out of him, start with the team to win the game. Same team as the OP.

I like the Wout / Jay Rod combination. Pity Vyds can't take a midfield role

Pope
Lowton Tarks Collins Taylor
Lennon cork brownhill cornet
Vydra Weghorst

But I think it will be the same lineup as Everton unless McNeil comes in and cornet goes up front but I’d prefer him wide again.

Pope
Lowton Tarks Collins pieters
Lennon Cork brownhill max
Vout Jay

I don’t think he will go with pieters tho, he will stick with Taylor.

Probably slightly controversial but I would go

Pope
Lowton Collins Tarks Taylor
Lennon Westwood Brownhill Cornet
Jayrod Weghorst

Personally thought Westwood was decent against Everton and was very helpful defensively

This is assuming Mee & Pieters aren't available, if they are then both would be strong contenders to start for me, Westwood will probably got the nod again, but he hardly proved his worth on Wednesday, and give a stupid penalty away, which on another night could have cost us dear, Lennon only gets in because we've got few other options on the right, unless we play Dwight there, or switch Max, and play Dwight on the left.

Vydra is a mighty useful option to have as an impact sub if needed, but hopefully that won't be the case.

Whoever does start the tempo has to be the same as the opening 15 against Everton, this is a game that we can win, and win well if we grab it by the neck from the off.

Going off Wednesday nights game, I would pick the following 11

Pope
Lowton Collins Tarks Taylor
Lennon Cork Brownhill Cornet
Wout
Vydra

When under pressure play it long into the channels for Vyds, When in control, play it to Wouts feet and let him feed Vyds and Cornet.

Harsh on Lennon who has done well (particularly going forwards actually - hes struggled a little defensively), but McNeil and Cork add technical ability and composure that can firstly give Weghorst the sort of supply he wants, and secondly enable us to impose ourselves on Norwich. Playing as the underdog in a cup tie against Everton is one thing and it worked, but playing the same way against Norwich runs the risk of encouraging them. We've got to keep the ball better and get our best technicians on the park.

I understand the Vydra for Weghorst thing but Vydra has had very little football and I think fir now he's better used as an option from the bench.

i would keep Roberts and Lennon in, but maybe tactically replace both earlier than against Everton (I felt that Lennon's best work was all; in the first half)
Cork for Westwood certainly

Hardly in the Glen Little Club but his pass up the line for Charlie Taylor was pretty special

This would be my team.

Only doubt being Vyds for Jay. Not sure whether it’s better to have his movement from the off or as an impact sub when their defence are set in a rhythm?

This team if Vydra is up to 90 mins. I don’t expect Dyche will play him though if so.

Imperative we don’t play hoof ball/channel ball/Westy hoofs against Gibson and Hanley - it’s literally food and drink for them boys.

Vydra as an early change on 55-60 if we aren’t winning .

Don’t want McNeil anywhere near the starting XI

& after Roberts’ horror show against Everton, I think we need Lowton from here on out

Not one call for Roberts to start - which rather sums up my thinking of his impact on the team, so far.

Hopefully he can settle into the team, eventually. For now though, he’s too much of a gamble.

So I make that only two selections with Westwood and McNeil

No selections with Roberts starting.

Would really like to see Cork in today from the start, could make a big difference, plus gives him much needed game time , we can always bring Westwood on if we’re desperate or he is looking knackered.

He could always come on for Lennon as an experiment as he’s not bad going forward don’t want him at right back tho

Agree. He has certainly looked more at sea with the equally inexperienced Collins next to him as opposed to when Tarks is on that side.

However not sure he’s been quite as bad overall as some make out.

Hands up. I am an Idiot. Westwood should not come out for the 2nd half. Truly awful performance and he has been by far the worst culprit. Playing like that we could be playing Barrowford Celtic under 10's and not score ( no disrespect meant to them).

Precisely the first half you'd expect from that team and more particularly that midfield. They lack calmness in possession and the ability to carry the ball with a view to an intelligent pass under any pressure.

That's why we needed Cork and McNeil in the team.
