Kompany would be a positive ambitious signing who would have plenty of influence with signings from home and abroad. I would be delighted with him and a much better choice than the likes of BFS, Pullis or Warnock. It really could be exciting times if the money is also available for the necessary transfers.

That’s great. Looks a matter of time before announcement then. David anderson of the mirror reckons it’s done and Kompany is already plotting transfers.

Fingers crossed for some City youth stars on loan. Lampard got the likes of Mount and Tomori when he was in charge of Derby so hoping for something similar!

Allowed five on a team sheet and four from any one club during a season but two have to be under 21.

Where did you see that? Highly doubt the latter two as they look PL ready and would cost. Cullen though more than possible with just one year left on his contract.

Actually excited by this, a very recent former world class midfielder will be able to attract some decent players.. and he will be able to call on his former football contacts too.

I'll certainly be happier than with some of the other names linked, but I did rather think this Knutsden chappy sounded like he might be better. Having said that, Kompany would be a bold and progressive choice and I won't be at all unhappy.
As regards those who are suggesting some of our best players might have a rethink over leaving (like Tarks for goodness sake!), just think about the wages we'll be paying in the championship and then realise and accept that our best players are most definitely off!

Kompany will definitely help sell a ‘rebrand’ of what we have been for the last decade (and that is absolutely not a pop at Dyche, who I had the back of to the end). Social media, public perception and punditry has been very laser focused on our style of play, tough, ‘traditional’ style and getting away from that to something more contemporary will make for pleasant reading and hearing….

…As long as what’s delivered on the pitch has substance of course.

Well, it looks done and dusted, judging by various medias and I have to admit this has given me one hell of a boost. It's a real shot in the arm for the players, a statement of intent from the board and it's lifted my spirits enormously.

I can't understand comparisons with similar appointments that didn't work out. Football has changed and the biggest thing of all is that Burnley Football Club is a very different beast to the one that hired those previous managers. It's bold. It's brave. It's just what we need right now in my opinion.

I think it’s a good appointment. I was dreading an underwhelming manager coming in like BFS. Hopefully he’ll lift the players and get them fired up for the championship.

I’m actually looking forward to going back on and watching good football with no VAR or big club bias. UTC.

I think this is key . In order to move forward we needed to rebrand and the appointment of Kompany if it happens, will be part of that.

Bringing in a very respected, well known and up and coming manager will improve the image of the club no end. This has the potential to completely change others opinions of us within football. That in turn will attract the players we seemed to have struggled attracting in recent years, and as others have said, likely to make the club more attractive to sponsors and investors.

i cannot believe people are getting excited that we have potentially signed a manager who hasn't won anything and has no experience managing in the English league and as very little experience in managing a club at all. but you all wanted rid of Sean Dyche who know the championship inside out. we have some bizarre fans who are jumping on the bandwagon because he is a big name.

The two are not mutually exclusive. I didn’t want Dyche sacked, not at at any point but I am excited at the prospect of Kompany.

Happy with if it goes through, we needed a clean break from the SD era, and Kompany ticks plenty of boxes, young, ambitious, well connected, these are assets we badly required in any appointment, and I'm glad they've not gone the tried and trusted route, but opted to go with an up and coming manager.

Two words Patrick Vieira, he was a relative novice when he went to Palace, and he's doing a good job in remoulding them.

Dyche has gone can we please thank him and move on and get behind the new manager.
