No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Presuming Pope leaves
Hennessey? BPF? Or someone else?

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
I’d make a bid to get Heaton back

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Hennessy with Norris getting the cups/bench spot and BPF doing another year on loan with a recall clause

Hennessey.

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Hennessey - had a great game in Carabao cup at Newcastle including penalty saves.
Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Hennessy i'd presume, BPF hasn't shown a level of consistency yet, Jensen as 3rd, keep the budget for where we need it most for now
Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Kompany apparently wanted James Trafford from City on loan at Anderlecht this summer. Impressed at Bolton last season. Only 19 though so question marks over whether he’s ready for the Championship.

Tom has played one first team game in the last two and a half seasons and that was half way through the second half of a game. Excellent for us but would be a big no for me.

Aye, the absolute nearest he should be would be as 3rd choice / coachClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 4:09 pmTom has played one first team game in the last two and a half seasons and that was half way through the second half of a game. Excellent for us but would be a big no for me.

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Hennessey, BPF maybe as a back-up, or Norris, but we can't really afford to be splashing out fortunes on a keeper, when we'll need to recruit in other areas.

In terms of goalkeeper coaches, have to admit to being bemused when we sacked Billy Mercer. I can only imagine that the managerial targets we had wanted to bring in their own.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 4:45 pmAye, the absolute nearest he should be would be as 3rd choice / coach

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
We are going to have limited money to spend. Therefore, for me, the GK isn't somewhere we need to spend money assuming the ones we have are retained.
Hennessey showed some class and has the international experience, as has BPF and has championship experience too so I think we have sufficient coverage and ability in this area

The only scenario that makes sense is he decided to walk with dycheClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 4:47 pmIn terms of goalkeeper coaches, have to admit to being bemused when we sacked Billy Mercer. I can only imagine that the managerial targets we had wanted to bring in their own.

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Apart from Pope none of the keepers at the club look good enough to me.
I’d hope we’d bring someone else in.

My Wednesday supporting mate said they'd have been a lot worse off without BPF.

I’m still hoping that Pope decides to stay for a season to see if we can get back up - I’d rather move on someone other than Pope is there was a choice.

Pope
If not possible, then Hennessey.

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Assuming Pope goes I'd certainly think it will be Henessey. We're lucky to have such a vastly experienced goalkeeper as our no2. I'd be worried if it was BPF.

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
Can we really carry four goalkeepers in the Championship?
I think we have to take the best offer for Pope.
Not sure why people have so much faith in Hennessey yet so little in BPF; if they were Nos 1 and 2 they would be healthy competition for one-another.

Re: No.1 Goalkeeper next season?
This is an easy one IMO. Both are very good keepers at either end of the experience scale.
They push each other to compete for the number 1 Jersey - I would be happy enough with either of them
