I also think international clearance and work permits are different.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 9:07 pmDon’t most signings both managerial and player that are awaiting permits get announced subject to international clearance?

Re: Name the next manager
From reading the rules on work permits it seems a massive issue bringing in coaches from abroad who have not been involved in the top 5 leagues in Europe. Also says they must have been working at that level for 5 years. Looks like this could be the issue which has arisen, Kompanys desired staff being unabke to secure work permits
Re: Name the next manager
I think it’s pretty obvious now we are going to get screwed on this. Let’s hope there’s an immediate back up.

Got to laugh, haven't you.
If some people are sceptical about how much Pace "gets" the club then no need to worry.
Coz this could from the top drawer alongside Lansbury, Lambert and the rest.
Proper Burnley behaviour this.

Might it be that his contract at Anderlecht officially expires on 31/05 so we can only make the announcement on 01/06?

The club have been speaking to him for weeks and weeks. Even before being relegated. I’m sure we would have figured out what permits were required by now.Cleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 9:16 pmFrom reading the rules on work permits it seems a massive issue bringing in coaches from abroad who have not been involved in the top 5 leagues in Europe. Coaching staff that arent really needed for 3 weeks though, so why the delay in Kompany announcement, unless he wont come without these coaches

Fair point.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 9:30 pmI doubt that’s a problem, wouldn’t they just announce Kompany has signed and will start on day X?
I suppose the scenario I’m imagining is that there’s a clause by which either parties could “mutually terminate” (like a break clause) on a set date and if he were “reemployed” before that date we might owe compo.
To be honest, I’m making it up as I go along

Its the hope that kills you
I think RV and CT who have been telling us there is nothing to worry are going to end up with egg on their faces.
No one can tell me these things take this long, if its agreed its announced, end of. After all the bad news and uncertainty the club would be rushing out any good news if not just for more season ticket sales ehich they are trying to push heavily.
Not overly bothered personally, at this point I would give the job to my next door neighbour

Re: Name the next manager
I saw that they paid their last manager €4m per year base salary, plus being top division and the chance to live in Dusseldorf which is very pleasant and it would be unrealistic to view us as favourites unless he was persuaded by moving back to ‘home’.
It is great to be ambitious, a flaw of the old regime, but one thing you need when being ambitious is a plan B if it doesn’t come off. Burnley didn’t seem to have that last year with the Orsic one, the failure to plug central midfield etc. i hope the club does this time, just in case.

Yeah agree with that. It’s just if any odd compensation clauses existed we’d rather not worry about potentially breaching?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 9:39 pmI’m just imagining it how a contractor would work. Potentially but I would suggest that the fact they parted ways rather than it just coming to the end of his contract that’s not an issue.

Re: Name the next manager
We just need a manager at this point, it’s rudderless. So much uncertainty over so many aspects of the club, that’s without me even thinking of the finances.
Unless there is good reason for Kompany not having been announced yet (I.e, he needs to travel to the UK/he’s sorting out his accommodation for his family etc etc), I’d set an ultimatum. If we’re waiting on him making a decision as opposed to something totally understandable, then it’s **** or bust time for us let alone him.
I’d give him 24 hours if he’s umming and ahhing.

He has worked in England prior to brexit, he has lived in England enough years to gain a British passport. Why would he need a work permit?

Kompany may well get a work permit but his backroom staff may not. He may then choose not to come and instead go to another club in Europe where work permits are not an issue. If he signed on Thursday or Friday, it's only Monday today and government departments don't work weekends remember.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 9:46 pmHe has worked in England prior to brexit, he has lived in England enough years to gain a British passport. Of course everything might be fine or he may have to employ a different backroom team. All hypothetical at this point.

Personally think this is a ploy to distract us from worrying about signings for as long as possible though. The thing with having no manager is no need for a transfer window thread…
