It makes a nice change to be going after players in their early 20s, rather than 30+ work horses.

I’m getting on a bit. If we sign all these players, the conversation with my older brother first home game will be:-
“Who’s that?”
“Don’t know “
“And Him?”
“Nope”
“What about Him?”
“Will you bloody shut up so I can watch the match!!”

Muleka got a hatful in Turkey almost a goal a game but that level even Weghorst could score at. Didn’t do as well in Belgium before going to Turkey.

Looks promising though as a player.
Thing I was most impressed about was that he seemed to know how to head a ball. Some thunderous headers there!

Also looked quick and didn’t always take the shot when there was a better option on.

At €4m could be an absolute bargain. Dread to think what we’ve been quoted for other strikers muted (like the Swansea lad).

It’s not Blackburn fans. It’s talkbfc.

Also bradjonesjourno just goes off rumours seen elsewhere such as this Twine one

I find it interesting that we are suddenly being linked with all these players in their early 20s, but who did the scouting for them. Has the club always known about them or has it come from Kompany?

Were they on our radar but ignored by Dyche as potential signings
Will almost certainly have stemmed from the club's recruitment department. Will be a combination of factors in terms of why more now than under Dyche, two biggest IMO will be that there are simply more young players capable of playing in the Championship than the Premier League and when we were in the Prem we had to focus on the here and now a lot more.

What I like about the Ballard deal (assuming it comes off) is that we clearly had multiple centre back targets. We tried for McNally at around £1.5m and £1.75m but once the amounts reached £2m we must have thought/known we could get a Championship proven option in Ballard for that so moved on quickly.

Hopefully we have similar shortlists and move equally quickly for other positions if first choice options don't come off.
Massively agree.

Hoping Pace has learned from the Christie and Orsic sagas. This strategy avoids us being drawn in to long running transfers, improves our chances of actually getting them done & it won’t take long before players/agents/clubs cotton on that our approach means we won’t take too much messing around. Good stuff.

If we’ve walked away from McNally for Bellard, I wouldn’t like to be his agent/Chairman.

Precisely we're now going after players with potential to improve, rather than being a retirement home for guys in the twilight of their careers, and I know which strategy I prefer us to pursue.

While we are here, another new name to be linked by Mercato

‘Negotiations are progressing rather well between Standard de Liège and Burnley for a possible transfer of Jackson Muleka.’

He is a 22 year old striker.
Where have I heard that name before ;) ?

An MK dons fans page saying Twine is set to sign for us and said goodbye to players / staff today in training.

Might back up louieollie, unless that was his source.
I’m currently on holiday with my Sunderland mate and he’s gutted as they were also looking at him

Howe: "There has been a lot of interest in him from other clubs this summer, so I'd like to thank our owners and everyone behind the scenes for getting us ahead of the competition. I'm delighted he is joining us as we prepare for the exciting challenge ahead."

Pope: “The deal has taken a couple of weeks to come to fruition but it got over the line really quickly.”

Something about all this doesn’t add up to me. If he were in demand why would we accept £10m so quickly? It’s not as though we don’t have other players we could/will be selling to fund incomings.

Perhaps something to do with the Wood deal?

Didn't we take out a loan for the money owed by Newcastle? Perhaps Newcastle have said give us Pope for £10 mill and we will send the rest of the Wood money now to avoid paying more interest on the loan.

That is probably all waffle, but you never know.

I just hope that our vast swathe of impatient fans give the new manager and new players time to gel. Given the meltdown of how long it took to announce Kompany and the "why haven't we signed anyone" posts I'm doubtful !

Very important we give them time, it's a complete rebuild !
It will take a bit of time - Forest proved it can be done from a poor start. The issue that we do have is that promotion should be the target and that brings pressure with it.

I think your thinking too much into it.

10m is about right in this market. If it gets things moving from our end then it’s a good bit of business.

Good luck to Pope another tremendous player and servant and a huge part of our recent success. Another presumably big wage off the bill maybe played a part in us accepting what seems a very low fee.

Undisclosed fee

Remember that Sky Sports don't always get everything right

I think the £12 million plus £3 million add ons I heard on here sounds about right, and you have to remember that according to Nixon both clubs were happy with the deal

Course, if it £10 million straight up rather than more over time then that is a whole new kettle of fish.....

According to Keith Downie (I believe the guy who broke the deal) he states it is 10m with potential add ons based on champions league etc….

Suppose he could have trained this morning (think Wood did before his transfer to Newcastle) but seems little serious reports from any trusted journalist.

A good time to remind ourself of the first rule of Twitter - follow selected trusted sources and never, never click to see comments underneath or use the search function. That’s when the slime rises to the top of the pond.

Not one reported on Ballard interest until the Arsenal blogger said fee agreed. No interest quoted or anything, anywhere.

In a parallel universe Sean is landing our first summer signing…Chris Basham (good lad, knows the division, etc etc).
Now we have a new manager, isn't it about time you got some new material?

Howe: "There has been a lot of interest in him from other clubs this summer, so I'd like to thank our owners and everyone behind the scenes for getting us ahead of the competition. I'm delighted he is joining us as we prepare for the exciting challenge ahead."

Pope: “The deal has taken a couple of weeks to come to fruition but it got over the line really quickly.”

Something about all this doesn’t add up to me. If he were in demand why would we accept £10m so quickly? It’s not as though we don’t have other players we could/will be selling to fund incomings.
It could be Nick Pope's wage that NUFC have had to get themselves ahead of the competition. Back in Jan it was reported that NUFC were paying Chris Wood £90k per week. I hope Nick Pope is similarly well rewarded.

Only seeing two Hull accounts at most saying Twine is on the way to them. Certainly nothing verified or remotely reputable reporting anything concrete.

I’ve no idea if Twine will come to Burnley or end up elsewhere but it looks looks Joey is believing an account that is someone pretending to be a Turkish journalist who studied in Hull and has a profile photo wearing a fez.

3 great players left (Pope, Tarks and Mee) but moving forward some big wages off the books to add to the reinvestment pot.

Looking likely louieollie has been talking s*** on this thread re. Twine after all - I’m pretty sure if Twine was set for a medical and fee agreed it would be out there by now.
I hope he’s right, just because you seem convinced he’s lieing for some reason
