When we are used to signing one player on the last day of the window, and that player is Dayle Stephens, it has already been an incredible window on paper.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 7:50 pmHave to agree, if we land O’Hare, keep McNeil, sign a quality keeper and then a shiny new striker of the Delap ilk it will be a very good window on paper.
I’m hoping for another surprise signing like McAtee to add to that list , it would be a fantastic window. But then it’s all down to the cohesion and how they gel as a side

An account on twitter says we’ve had a £3.85m bid rejected for Check Oumar Diakité from Paris FC. No real substance to it but rumours have been scarce the last few days.

From what I can see - the Dutch U23 keeper from Anderlecht appears to be getting closer.
Muric for Man City seems to have died down a bit.
We were linked to another keeper - cooper but again that seems to have quietened down

Muric from Man Ciy was mentioned earlier but I haven't seen any more rumors about him. I think he easily will go out on loan again.

I know Delap is out in the US with the first team at the moment though.
Interesting that Andy Jones' piece yesterday said Delap wasn't an active target - yet these reports suggest he is.

If the below is true then a bidding war is in the offing.
Nottingham Forest are stepping up their efforts to sign Burnley forward Maxwel Cornet, according to The Times. Everton and Fulham are also thought to be keen.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Sense, Everton aside, we’re having some targeted discussions about a loan deals with clubs that you’d expect to be threatened by relegation that could work for all sides:
- we get wages off the books and some cash to invest in replacements
- they get a PL proven player who could help keep them up
- assuming we went up, we get back a player with a further year of PL experience
- if we don’t and they stay up, we get a few
- if we don’t and they go down, hopefully he’s been successful and we’d get a bigger fee than we might this summer
Sounds like we’re trying to avoid being a yo-yo club by having too many PL-standard players to buy if we do get promoted, which is a good strategy imo because as exciting as our new young signings are, I think we’d need a different standard to survive if we got promotion - especially after losing Tarks, Mee & Pope.
Not saying it’s entirely without risk, but slightly more sophisticated than just selling all your best players.

Makhtar Gueye would be on the radar at Vincent Kompany's new club. Burnley FC is interested in the top scorer at KV Oostende. Gueye remains very calm and is currently still focusing on Ostend.
The Senegalese striker will talk to Het Nieuwsblad. He talks about his future plans and his dream for more. The striker has scored 13 and 12 goals respectively in the past two seasons. Then there will automatically be interest from big clubs. “I saw Fashion Sakala move from KVO to Rangers,” it sounds. “I also want to take a course like that.”
But he is certainly not waiting for a transfer at the moment. He speaks with great confidence in the future. That transfer will come, if not today it will be at another time. The striker makes a comparison. “Waiting for a transfer is like waiting at the hairdresser: in the end it is everyone's turn. You have to be patient. I do dream of a top competition, but I still have a contract with Ostend until 2024," concludes the striker.
Nevertheless, the striker is very aware of the interest, including that of Kompany and Burnley. “I know I was mentioned there, but we'll see if that becomes concrete. Of course I would like to work with an ex-top player like Kompany," the striker testified. Kompany would have spoken to him last season after a match between Anderlecht and KVO. Gueye received the compliment that he would have learned a lot tactically

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
The Fulham offer may be better than a bidding war. A bidding war and somebody offers the release clause and our club has to accept, Cornet then gets to choose. That loan offer (rumour) was £5m without losing our asset, potentially much more in a year than the release clause, and if we go up and they go down we keep Cornet to help us next season (or sell him without a active release clause).
So while it may be all false rumour, the Fulham one feels best.

Depends - I think we’d snap hands off for the full 17.5m upfront or even 50% now and 50% in a year. Doesn’t look like anyones been forthcoming yet with that offer though.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 10:53 amThe Fulham offer may be better than a bidding war. Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I reckon we’re waiting to see which of our permanent targets we can sign before looking at more loans. I’d say 3x loans probably doesn’t fit the model since that’s 25%+ of players that we’re developing but stand no chance of making a fee on. Would we prefer to take a risk on Richardson?
Still, for Delap, I’d take the hit. Could be a game changer in terms of promotion and you’d hope our links would place us well.

I think all three will offer his release clause, and then its up to each club to agree the best terms with him
Its fairly unrealistic to expect the clubs not to be aware of his release clause (if he has one of course!)

Agree I would snap their hands off.
Cornet is a fair weather player and I doubt we get value out of him and his value would fall
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Cornet in a team that plays more football could be devastating though. Factor in AFCON and covid last year plus learning to cope with the physicality of English football, and maybe we'll see a more consistent version of him for 22/23.
