Re: Kompany first meeting
When he says assistant called Roe, is that more of a PA rather than Assistant Manager?
Re: Kompany first meeting
we are getting some amazing access - it is a joy to see it.

Re: Kompany first meeting
I imagine that they wouldn't have put that out if we'd have been tubbed 3-0
Re: Kompany first meeting
Brilliant to get to see that. I'd absolutely love to see a video in the "meeting room" where Kompany is talking tactics with them.
Hearing some of the things he said though, I can actually hear Dyche in there. I suspect the biggest difference between them is not what they say, but in how they say it. Kompany appears to think very deeply about everything he says and puts it across in a way that makes you relate to him. Dyche I suspect (and it is only a suspicion because we didn't get access to his meetings) was much more corporate with lots of managerial speak like "automaticity".

Re: Kompany first meeting
Remember the 1 min snippet of him not being happy was telling some posters on here everything they needed to know about VK and that alone was enough to tell them he wasn’t for them or someone they wanted in charge of Burnley.
Yeah me too

That has actually been on Clarets Player for a few weeks, so not withstanding whether we got rubbed 3-0 or not in the first game!

Footage like this makes us mere mortals feel connected to the club.
Burnley is now a club for the plenty and not the few should be the new slogan

Good man management. Walks into a new club and explains how our achievements were respected from the highest level teams and that he knows how good we can be. Also emphasised the one team mantra. Very positive.

He speaks incredibly well. Another born leader and winner.

He’s been hugely respectful on a number of occasions about how the team was run and worked previously.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 7:07 pmGood man management. 95% of the team on the pitch, and it kept focusing on poor old JBG

Really good watch - he gives you belief, he makes you want to achieve for you but he also commands respect. I can imagine that there was a few nerves in the following meeting even from some of the older pros.

It was put out weeks ago, so I don't think the result at Huddersfield mattered.claretandy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 6:41 pmI imagine that they wouldn't have put that out if we'd have been tubbed 3-0
It's what I used to calm people's expectations, as he said, it could take months to get the system down pat.

Guy’s a born leader and winner. As highlighted above, the most impressive thing for me is that he could’ve easily written off the ‘Dyche era’, talked about brand new starts etc but he’s constantly appreciated and made clear the values instilled at the club over the past decade or so have been and will be crucial to where we want to be under his management

Re: Kompany first meeting
I watched this before the Huddersfield game and the most impressive thing he said was when we defend corners or free-kicks we'll be concentrating on scoring from them, not just defending them. It's the most positive thing I've ever heard from a football manager.

You must have the wrong poster he is never negative nor a serial whinger
Best to remember though his inner strength only allows him to criticise, not receive criticism. You may be labelled a bully shortly by his good self.

Re: Kompany first meeting
I couldn’t help but think of the scene in Damned United when Clough walked in and said you can chuck all your medals in the bin! This was the polar opposite and I think Kompany will last longer than 44 days.
Re: Kompany first meeting
Anyone else watch it for about 2 mins, then take it all in, and then watch the rest in 2 minute segments? Fascinating stuff really.
I'm always wary of these type of internal fly on the wall speeches as I've seen many documentaries featuring people like Mourinho, Wilder, Rodgers etc and it can all come across a bit "David Brent" at times. But what I get out of Kompany so far is that his words seem genuine and he seems a straight talking guy. No catchphrases or soundbites, just important information. I think we are in good hands.

Re: Kompany first meeting
Bloody hell.
A few points:
His English is amazingly good. Better than a lot of British managers. Got the right balance between respect for the existing players and the new ones. Got everything right. Perhaps the key thing is at the end when he spoke about lifting lads out injured when he was too.
Excellent video. Top man, Vincent.
Well, well worth watching. This man would be a senior officier in a war who would lead his men from the front.

Re: Kompany first meeting
That’s something that’s really impressed me about him, all his comments about us over recent years that have been totally respectful.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 10:39 pmGuy’s a born leader and winner. This video is right back at day 1 but he’s continued that theme throughout, right up to last week’s comment about wanting us to continue what we’ve done previously while adding goals.
You are never do sure what to expect from a new manager, more so one who has had a glittering career as a player, but, that rather strange interview in Portugal after the Newcastle games apart, he gets full marks from me for the way he’s conducted himself and the way he’s dealt with things. Long may it continue.
