He’ll inexplicably get work somewhere else soon, then he’ll be sacked with a large payout after 9 months. The gravy train continues onward.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Not a surprise TBH it's a shock he lasted as long as he did given West Brom's dire form.
Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Thought they were excellent against us. They just didn’t take their chances. Saying that, it’s probably time he wrapped his hand in.

I thought they recruited well in the summer. I think Bruce now will be looking to leagues 1 and 2 for work. Maybe a Derby

They could do a lot worse.
Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Hopefully as it will relieve our wage bill and we will smash them at the turf as we have a habit of beating teams managed by former managers

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Is this the least surprising sacking in football just now?
Incidentally what a weird profession football management is. In no other industry I can think of would someone be offered a multi million pound job with a string of sackings on their cv. Very few managers have consistent success on their record and many (most?) have abject failure. It is indeed as someone has pointed out a gravy train. Some managers crop up every time there is a vacancy yet when you look at their history it is littered with sackings and total failure. Weird.

He would be a good shout and its early enough in the season to turn it around for them.
It would be interesting seeing how they played against us though to what SD would do with that team.

Brucie is passed it now and needs to retire.
WBA would be a good fit for Dyche but would they give him the time as we know he likes his teams to get a pre season in

WBA have been the only side who were unlucky not get all three points against us. Certainly the best team we've played this season.

They were lucky to get a point as they equalised in the 97th minute, we also missed a hatful of chances to increase our league

WBA are very attractive going forward but have no decent players who can finish off their approach work.
They are also conceding goals and that is why they are near the bottom.

Roy Keane the current bookies favourite (Dyche and Wilder about equal after that).

Not sure he'd want it but Scott Parker would be a great choice for WBA. He's probably got the best recent record when it comes to getting teams out of the Championship and he plays some great football whilst doing so.

Agreed.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 10:31 amWBA have been the only side who were unlucky not get all three points against us. Certainly the best team we've played this season.
They are also the best side in the division on expected goals AND expected goals conceded (before last weekend, it may have changed). That suggests a new manager won’t have to change much.
Wallace, Grant and Diangana have had about 60 shots inside the box and not more than 2 or 3 goals each. Last season Grant got 18. By contrast Jay and Tella have only had 26 shots inside the box all season but 5 goals each.
They’ll be up there. I’m glad we have a cushion.

Odd timing, could’ve been done a few weeks ago.
Cannot see Dyche going for a Championship job with East Mids Prem managerial jobs imminent.
Scott Parker would be a great appointment. Think with the right manager they could be a real threat.

Wolves, Leicester (surely only a matter of time) and WBA are surely the only clubs Dyche would consider unless one of the big jobs becomes available, or Cooper is surprisingly sacked at Forest
And I'm not convinced Wolves or Leicester will look at Dyche...

Well, if it was up to the Eeyore's who post on here, it would be KV. Some of them were very unhappy when we only managed to get 3 points from our away win at Coventry.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 12:27 pmWell, blow me down.

My money's on Cooper, especially with the millions they invested over the summer.
They're not going to risk wasting that if they can avoid it.
Serves them right if they do though.

Dyche would be ideal, if they backed him with some money to strengthen defence in January.

Hasn't Cooper just signed an improved contract at Forest? Not that they mean anything but it'll be surprising if he goes.

I wonder if anyone would want Keane anywhere near their club. I certainly wouldn't,
not that I would have any influence over it.

New contract or not, if Forest keep losing, Cooper will get the bullet.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
I find it difficult to believe that WBA couldnt find a better prospect an/or that Keane wants to get back into managing but something has happened to make him favourite for several bookies. Maybe he's pally with the owners or been seen around the The Hawthorns or some such?
Looking on odds checker, though, he's favourite ranging 2/1 to 4/1
Then Wilder/Dyche ranging 4/1 to 7/1
Scott Parker next around 10/1
As per another poster above, I'd go for Parker (or Dyche) rather than the other 2.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Nobody said Cooper’s new contract was improved.
May be giving with one hand and taking with the other, e.g. a pay rise but looser terms on dismissal. Who knows?
He’ll be gone by the World Cup. He did well but was lucky to get them up in the first place.

Re: Steve Bruce sacked
Parker hasn't shown he can cut it in the PL as a manager, failed twice now.
Wilder has shown he can get a club promoted and stay up for at least one season before imploding.
Dyche - his record speaks for itself
If you're a club owner wanting to go up and stay up, Dyche is the stand out candidate, regardless of what people on here might think.

In my opinion,If they did appoint SD, with the squad that WBA have, I’m pretty sure they would be playing Premiership football next season. And if they were prepared to back him properly (unlike us!), they would have a more successful time in the Premiership, than we had under his reign.

Big shout that Clive. (I mean the last sentence) Our stay at the top table was very impressive given the limited resources we had even before Garlick snapped the purse shut.

Owen Coyle has been manager of Queens Park since June.
Amazingly, they are doing quite well in the Scottish Championship.
