Could be one of those weekends for keepers. Alison making the same sort of errors that Muric makes, coming for high balls and not winning them.
Not just in crowded areas either.

No comparison….. Alison is 10 times better & 10 times braver.
Muric is awful… I think he has an allergy to touching the ball with his hands.
Love the kicking but otherwise he’s very poor.

Incidentally Muric wasn’t VK’s first choice.

Its simple really. All we want is for our 6ft 5” goalkeeper to come and take crosses from corners and set plays.

Beliefs are like Father Christmas or the tooth fairy.

Facts are that Muric is the goalkeeper of the number 1 team in this league.

Up to you which one you choose.

How do you know this?
and Muric is probably no worse than 10%, if not better than, that of what Allisson is as a goalkeeper.
Also I reckon Muric would chin Allison...easy :D

Not sure that’s true actually. I was told he was first choice really early in the summer, maybe before VK took over actually.

Then it went quiet and I assumed we’d missed out. Then the Bart Verbruggen rumours surfaced but I was told the week that was all happening that Muric had been to Barnfield.

Unless you’re talking about another keeper being first choice?

Bailey Peacock-Farrell is just as good with his feet.
Can catch.
Good shot stopper.
Reads situations better...

And actually martials the center backs...

I've no doubt he would have gained us more points so far.

Muric is dodgy and will cost us points.

If BPF gets a start on Tuesday and has a really good game he may get the chance to start next Sunday.

Wonder how many of these hammering Muric used to focus on Pope's kicking.

And you'd have to admire SD's tactic of "narrowing the target area", Pope was very well protected.

Still not convinced by this guy,two crosses today was really all he had to deal with cocked them both up dropping balls he should catch easily...one resulted in the penalty and Roberts being sent off...the least he could do was save the penalty to save face...we need a better keeper...if not now definitely next season he is not very good at his job.

He is vital to this system. Of course he’s got mistakes in him, if he didn’t have mistakes in him & given his excellent distribution he’d be playing in the premier league week after week.

Muric is a Marmite Keeper deffo...

But come the end of the season we will be talking about his plus points not the negatives.

The negatives are decreasing and the positives increasing without doubt.

He is currently the top performing keeper in the division for StatsBomb’s (partnered with several EFL clubs) measure for shot stopping (post shot xG, see graphic below, albeit its around 5 games behind now). You can read more about the measure and method here:

https://statsbomb.com/articles/soccer/a ... ted-goals/

In essence, it measures the quality of shot he is facing. This, added to his ball playing ability being a key part of our domination of games, would suggest ‘he’s not very good at his job’ is a rather harsh statement.

Agree that he needs improvement on decision making and commanding of his area. Clearly working on it as he’s been coming for more and did quite well at QPR. Today he missed a couple. Inconsistencies of a young keeper.

Just turned 24. First season in English football. It’s young and relative inexperience for a keeper. You are comparing him to Pope, which is daft in itself, but if you want to compare, Pope was playing for York City in the lower leagues at the same age.

He's rubbish as a goalkeeper. He's bloody good with his feet and probably should be playing inside forward or similar, but with his hands he's crap. I get we've been rather spoiled with Heaton and Pope, but come on.... he's got to do better with simple, bread and butter crosses!

I do think people should be looking at the goalies the teams we play against put out for comparisons with Muric rather than the England #2.

That said, would have been able to save their goal today if he'd used his arms.

I don’t claim to know everything. But what I do, is try and find statistical evidence to support my claims, especially if they are as outlandish as ‘he can’t do his job’. Basically my previous post completely proved this statement / opinion wrong, unfortunately for you - perhaps you should stick to sofas. ;)
