Re: January transfer window rumours.
Seems strange that the Turkish reports saying Besiktas now offered 3mil when on Monday the report was that we had offered 4.5mil, not convinced with any report but it seems in turkey there’s a lot of fam accounts convincing themselves what’s happening and the owner comes out and says things to please the fans.
The Owner said it was complete rubbish weghorst had a 2.5mil buyout clause in the loan, yet united ended up paying them 2.5mil

According to Lorenz Kohler we have had a 5m euro bid for Foster rejected.

Sounds like they want to keep him until the end of the season. Always the difficulty of doing business in January really. Especially an inform player.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 8:38 amAccording to Lorenz Kohler we have had a 5m euro bid for Foster rejected.

Westerlo fan here, season ticket holder for a long time.
Foster is the best striker we've had in a decade, excellent player although he's having a rough time scoring in the last couple games.
Works hard, silky on the ball, fat and physically strong, great positioning and excellent attitude. Was on loan last season, but we got him on a 4-year deal starting the summer of '22.
No clue what the board values him at, the biggest sale we've made as a club was Nabil Dirar in the early 2000's for €1.5m.
I reckon €7m-€10m would be his value, he's the figurehead of our attack and we don't have anyone in our squad with his ability/play style, so replacing him would be tough.

"A bid in excess of €5-million was tabled to Westerlo for his services, as per GVA, but it appears they are holding out for more as one of the most prized assets at present.
Head coach Jonas De Roeck has made it clear he would like to hold on to the player ‘until the end of the season’.
However, he acknowledged that a significantly increased offer from the Championship league leaders cans sway them into parting ways this month."

Taylor is a unit, and evidently a quick one at that (at least by reference to Belgian football).
Based on those highlights, hes clearly very raw though do looks like someone who might need a bit of time to settle, but you can see the attraction.

I think if it is true that we have offered more than 5 million as an opening bid that it will be likely we will rise to the area you're talking about there (i.e, 7m). Kompany and Bellamy flying out to watch him last night shows their intent with him, I am not sure we have heard of them doing that with any other signing (though they may have just not been spotted).
He certainly appears to have many of the attributes that our current strikers do not (i.e, pace, dribbling). I agree with the shout further up that he reminds of N'diaye, I see that too, His manner on the ball is very similar. Obviously we are only judging on clips of goals on YouTube so it is hard to be sure but you can see him fitting into our team.

Don’t see us raising the bid much more especially if we still want obafemi at 3mil, clubs can value players as much as they want, personally don’t see us thinking foster is worth more than the 5mil we have reportedly bid

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Considering the adaptation time we need to get this done now rather than in 6 months.
We can’t be going into the Premier League with a young squad and having key players needing to adapt. We could be adrift in no time. Players like the Bosnian have a bit more pedigree so that calibre and like him I’d be comfortable signing in the summer.
I’d be surprised if we were out there yesterday and not fully intent on getting it done asap. The players view will be a big factor.

I hope we get Foster. Regarding the Bosnian, I don't believe he isn't interested in us, assuming we're interested in him. Who knows the truth?

As for the highlights, worth bearing in mind they were uploaded 9 months ago, so they don't include this season at a higher level in the JPL, it's quite possible he's matured a touch more this season (8 goals 3 assists in 17 starts suggests so).

If we're working with QPR about loaning out Barnes then that suggests we're confident in signing a forward. If we don't bring anybody in, we need to keep hold of Barnes.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 11:16 amOne of those EFL transfer twitter pages claiming 3mil been rejected by Swansea for obafemi and that QPR are working on a loan deal for barnes

Re: January transfer window rumours.
It's fun to speculate but I just take it all with a pinch of salt. So many regurgitated and made up rumours out there. Only thing I'm confident of is that VK wants to bring in a younger pacier striker than what we have but even tht might not happen before the summer. Regardless I'll pretty sure we will still gain promotion.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 11:16 amOne of those EFL transfer twitter pages claiming 3mil been rejected by Swansea for obafemi and that QPR are working on a loan deal for barnes

I also assume the lad from Bournemouth will be recalled.
If that’s the case I could see us getting both.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
I’ll tell you what I love about transfer windows, I’m sure you’re all on the edge of your seat.
These random links that start appearing, you go to check them out on Wikipedia and then you see a player long since forgotten in the same team. You come across some real gems.
For example, checking out your man Taylor at Westerlo reveals that Nacer Chadli formerly of Spurs and WBA is still going at 33 and playing for them.
You then look at the last team they played, Genk, and Mbwanna Samatta has turned back up there via Fenerbahce less than 2 years after Villa jizzed 8.5m plus a 4.5 year contract. Safe to say that didn’t go well.
Finding out Jason Puncheon was still playing and turning out for Paphos (Famagusta now) was another recent favourite.
Does anyone else end up going down these black holes? I could whittle away hours like this. One of life’s simple pleasures if you ask me.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Even though VK quite rightly doesn’t acknowledge it , this window is surely about building for the premier league and the future. As another poster said getting them in now as well to help bed in is another advantage.
A blind man on a galloping horse as Stan says, can see we will not miss out on promotion just with the existing squad .

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Tend to agree. If VK implies he is building for the future, ie next season in the Prem, it makes him and the club looks too assuming of promotion. No manager can be seen to act this way. For me any one bought this window who cannot step up to the PL and be comfortable there, are a poor investment. After all we have sufficient "layers" in players, as SD used to refer to them, ie Egan Riley, Twine, Churlinov, Bastian, JBG, Barnes, Dervisoglu. These are all stronger than the fringe or bench players we have had since the outbreak of COVIDnortheastclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 11:44 amEven though VK quite rightly doesn’t acknowledge it , this window is surely about building for the premier league and the future. Re: Barnes
1) What a way to sign off with a brace against that lot
2) You have to assume this is based on other striker/s coming in before we sanction the move.
3) Sentiment aside, he's probably on a higher wage than we'd like to be paying for his place in the pecking order, tbh.

They’ve massively ballsed this up. Like we did with Tarks.
You don’t let players who can command the sort of fee that BBD would’ve done walk for nothing.
That money is vital to keep the conveyor belt of new players coming in that can then be sold at a profit later on. Similarly to what we’re now (finally) doing.
