If I had Tits it would get on mine too

My chance to get away!
Re: International break
I see it as a big distraction but then try to remind myself how much I enjoy WC or Euro finals when they come round.

4 weeks of more frustration watching us struggle our way to more disappointment, international football is crap,i don't even think the players enjoy it.

I hate it.
Re: International break
A quarter final and final in the last two competitions isn't struggling. If you don't enjoy it though that's fair enough. And I can understand why people don't like the international breaks.Vincent'sCap wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 11:33 am4 weeks of more frustration watching us struggle our way to more disappointment, international football is crap,i don't even think the players enjoy it.

Re: International break
Tedious isn't it especially when we're on the verge of securing promotion.
Roll on Friday when Sunderland come calling.
And the main thing is all our players come through injury free.
On a positive note BPF, Churlinov, Foster, Obafemi and Roberts have all enjoyed success and played important parts in their respective nations results.
And at least them going away and doing well will hopefully mean they've got the City drubbing out of their systems.

All good points by tiger.
Crazy really, that we’ve now got a squad of internationals that only make our bench but feature for their countries.

Re: International break
I like the big tournaments but the qualifying groups are too bloated especially now with top two guaranteed to go through. While never academic, it’s a pretty low bar, and a lot of the matches are just processions. Obviously compounded by interrupting the wonderful season we’re having.

Re: International break
It's frustrating when we're on a roll.
However, it gives the lads a break (if they want it) and also lets knocks, strains and more serious injuries heal.
Certainly missing the footy, though.

I’ve no problem with it. My only hope is that none of our players pick up an injury. Have we ever had so many on international duty.

Re: International break
Love everything about an international break. From the whinging about squad selection to the moaning about Southgate’s boring style of play, the debate about how mediocre England’s most recent opposition were and the crying about the disruption to the domestic calendar. I wish there were more.

Re: International break
I used to be the same but now just use it as an opportunity to watch some local non-league footy. The game I went on yesterday had a gate of just over 1,000, around 250 up on the norm so clearly quite a few do the same in these breaks. Must be beneficial extra income to Clubs at this level as well as a pleasant change for spectators.

Ekdal started for Sweden at home to Belgium, Lukaku scored a hattrick and Ekdal was really poor.

It was Lindegard who was mainly marking Lukaku and looked poor. Ekdal was not too bad actually.

Need scrapping it causes disruption to our domestic season and for most fans seeing their club winning is everything. Personally I rarely watch England
These games could have taken place in Mid May

Re: International break
This is it in a nutshell, the qualifying is getting like the European club competitions and is done in this manner to ensure all the big countries qualify.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 12:12 pmI like the big tournaments but the qualifying groups are too bloated especially now with top two guaranteed to go through. Take England's group as purely one example, everybody can be fairly certain England 8 Italy will qualify before a ball is kicked, and that is true of several groups, so these games lack a real edge.
And the same can be true of the early stages of major tournaments, it is only when we reach the KO stages that the excitement starts to truly build.
All FIFA and UEFA are interested in is generating money, hence why they both keep extending their respective competitions.

Definitely, my local non league club really benefited as well. Good to be able to have a pint watching the game in a friendly atmosphereLeadBelly wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 3:39 pmI used to be the same but now just use it as an opportunity to watch some local non-league footy. Re: International break
Are we ever any good after an international break?
Can remember under Dyche we usually always struggled too.
They are complete momentum killers.

Re: International break
Like I just pointed out on the match thread, I’m more so meaning the normal 2 week ones like this. The World Cup was different in that the whole squad (except one or two) were in full training for 3 weeks prior. The other 2 week one this season followed with a performance very similar to that tonight against Cardiff.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 10:15 pmPerhaps you should check our results immediately after the last/world cup one
