The important question that I’ve not seen anybody ask or answer yet is did the loyalest of them all, Dave Burnley, get a ticket?
It's been asked. But deleted

Who's going to refuse them entry.....it was a restriction put on the sale of tickets by Burnley, not Blackburn, the ground you are gaining access to
Either club staff or the police. It isn't a legal issue and the venue is a private venue so there is no obligation to allow entry

Enforce the points system or scrap it.

I agree that those who have been to every away game this season should probably get a ticket for this match one way or another.

But then so should the fan that can't get to many away games these but has been consistently going to games for years, even decades.

There are always going to be people that lose out despite probably 'deserving' to be there. But that is because of Rover's ridiculous, pathetic decision to give us a measly, insulting allocation. Anger should be aimed at them, not our club.

It's a Burnley points system to buy tickets

It's not a restriction on entry to the ground, which isn't controlled by burnley

I can see the benefits actually

People moaning about people standing up at away games?

Just fill the away end with boomers and problem solved

Its amazing that the club haven't thought about this before

These ‘youngsters’ are the future of the club. more important they keep going than us old gits
Absolutely correct, but under the current system not fair. As has been said there can be a scenario for instance, a 25 Yr old with 6500 points that has been to every game for 10 years, what makes them less loyal than someone at 55 with 20000 points and been to every game since they were 8 if you get my drift, only difference is that their older, surely the older person shouldn't think they have more of a claim on a ticket. As I've said in earlier post's there was always going to be people unhappy about not getting a ticket in such a high profile game as this one. But to up the threshold to 10000 points for instance is not fair because it takes out a big chunk of people because of their age, not because their any less loyal. The only fairer way to me is to go back to the queueing for a ticket on day of sale, the thing I would put in place is a current season ticket holder, and actual id when buying and id when entering the ground so that the person that buys the ticket actually enters the ground. OK you could say that this takes out a chunk of people who don't live local, for instance London clarets, but it's highly likely that a hell of a lot of that group are not season ticket holders. This saga will live on long after I'm gone, problem solved then, I'll be at every game 😊👍

Perhaps that we should spell out that, again when it suited you wanted things to change.

In this example loyal fans of other clubs having their away capacity reduced.
The situations are completely different. The thread you reference was around increasing our home capacity. Reducing the amount of tickets we offered clubs for their initial allocation is something that is common place in football. I think all supporters would agree that if a match is sold out to home supporters yet we give the away team 2000+ tickets and they only sell 1000 our supporters have missed out and it needs looking at.
The situation created by our club means that with a reduced allocation they changed the way the tickets were sold. Two different things all together.

No one should be entitled to any tickets - how do you get new fans if they can't go due to the regulars

Not sure if this has already been suggested as I haven’t waded through 8 pages of dialogue. Why not remove loyalty points for renewing season tickets and just award those for away games, then those who have regularly attended away would be prioritised for away matches. Just a thought. Similar to what they used to do back in the day for fa cup final tickets. You had to show you’d been to so many other games to qualify for a final ticket.

It does reflect 'loyalty', you want it to reflect your perception of 'loyalty'.

What about everybody ticking the away games they want to enter for tickets for before the season starts? Available to all season ticket holders.
The ones who ticked pre season get first choice the remaining then go on sale.
If theres more enter than tickets then straight to a ballot. No loyalty points

And if you were first in the queue you were guaranteed a photo in the Burnley Express waving your ticket and smiling from ear to ear !

Same argument. If a 12 year old has attended every single home and away game, say for the last 5 years, and your daughter has missed one or 2 for whatever reason, does that make the 12 year old more loyal than her?

That's OK but could potentially mean that a current season ticket holder may not have the chance to buy a ticket for an away they wish to go to, which can't be right, imo all current season ticket holders should have the chance to do that. So for instance I don't have the required loyalty points so haven't had the chance to apply, but I am a current season ticket holder, surely this should be a pre requisite before we even get to loyalty points, I stand to be corrected but is it not possible that as a result of relegation coupled with the sacking of Sean dyche some people relinquished their season ticket so hence are not current, but by virtue of having over 6000 points from previous seasons are eligible to enter the ballot and potentially get a ticket, or taking the ballot away are eligible to purchase a ticket for any given away game, that surely can't be right, the eligibility to purchase should always be to current season ticket holders.

Blackburn's antics have been pathetic, no doubt about that, but the way some people are talking it's as though they've missed out on tickets to see us play in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

It's a big local derby, sure, but taking a step back for a minute the game is a dead rubber as far as we're concerned. We'll very likely be promoted as Champions before then and the only thing on the line is maintaining our unbeaten record against that lot, and the possibility of damaging their play-off push. In the grand scheme of things, it's not that important.

Had this fixture taken place on March 19th it would be a different story and I'd be really gutted if I missed out on it. Now that it's been kicked back to the end of the season I can't say I'm overly bothered about it to be honest.

I hope we win and if not I hope we don't get beat. Whatever happens we're going up as Champions and it's been a phenomenonal season that we won't forget.

And your reply to my 25 year old daughter would be?

Oh you’ve got 1100+ points but you don’t fit my argument so I won’t reference you.

UTC
My reply would be that your daughter was fortunate enough to get a ticket to the Aberdeen away game. This was another match that ticket demand massively outstripped supply and an awful lot of fellow clarets, me included, missed out on it.

Given that Rovers have only given us a limited number of tickets, and having been lucky enough to get a ticket for the Aberdeen game, surely your daughter can't really begrudge someone else getting the chance to watch the Rovers game?

At the fear of getting my head bit off how's this for a solution going forward,1 season ticket enables the holder to apply for 1ticket only for any given game. This will stop STH getting tickets for non STH

Going forward for me relates to away games only.... Which needs a complete re-think, what the solution is ive no idea
But the exclusion of the younger fan base isnt an option.Dad and Lad/ Lass will always have its place in football.Imo. Being a home season ticket holder is irrelevant to purchasing away tickets.

What do you look at in order to find out how many points you have accumulated. Thanks.

400 posts and no agreement as to what the club could have done better. So the club’s plight is fully understandable.

For what it’s worth I think they did fairly well given the hand Blackburn dealt them well knowing that demand would far outstrip supply. Inevitably there were to be winners and losers and this will happen for all big games

The club then has to balance the demand of the older fans as well as future proofing its investment in younger fans.

I have no idea whether 6000 is a fair target, it could be argued that is a little high if the club wants to hold onto younger fans long term. It is a fact of life that they stand to earn more money in the future from a devoted 18 year old rather than a veteran who saw the 1960 championship team, but equally loyalty must come into it

I think for games where demand is high a ballot is the only fair way to give everyone a chance. Maybe if one is successful in a ballot that person should not be able to enter the next budget so there is a good prospect of the awards being equalised over a season.

We have to get used to the idea that we will not get to all the games until our success on the pitch levels out

The debate for me is whether 6000 is the right number and if not should it be higher or lower

That's not a bad assessment for all intent & purposes it's just a game & in the context of importance with the seasons objective it ranks low, win lose or draw whatever the result we'll be the winners with the overall prize & we've already beaten them once convincingly this season it's job done already.
