Leeds Bradford Airport
Not flown from here before.
Any recommendations on the best parking options as there seems to be a few choices?

Flew to Mallorca a couple of weeks ago and used the Park2Travel service - it's right next to the airport and there's a shuttle minibus that takes you to the terminal. We went for 10 days and it was £75 when we booked it through Holiday Extras.
The friends we went with booked the official parking (still a shuttle away) and it was further away and cost them £20 more!

LBA long term parking at "Sentinel" only a 1/2 mile from the airport with shuttle buses ... we always use themCaptainKirk wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 10:30 amNot flown from here before.

If you're going early morning, pay for Fast Track - especially during school holiday periods.

Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
Best parking option IMO is to park at home and get a taxi. Cost me £140 return but is a whole lot easier than driving home.
But then, the only time I used an airport car park was after a January holiday in Spain, and I came home to a dark, sleeting evening with the wind blowing sideways and had to walk to the car park. It decidedly put me off.

...not to mention you can have a zillion beers on the aeroplane.

Street park in Yeadon and get a local taxi to the SHORT STAY car park at LBA, to avoid being charged barrier entry.
Not much more than a fiver each way!!

No, I live and go from Menston
Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
Just booked a weeks holiday in Lanzarote during the winter break in January from LBA thanks to this thread
Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
Used LBA last month and it was nice to go on holiday without being shouted at the moment we stepped through the doors. Manchester Airport, I'm talking about Manchester Airport.
Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
A few years ago, similar inconsiderate prats parked on streets near Manchester airport, blocking residents driveways, parking on pavements etc.....soon stopped when they returned to their vehicles to find them damaged, which cost more to repair than parking would have done. Hopefully the residents of yeadon take note

1) the Manchester stories, which made the news, were based on people parking hundreds of yards from the airport, and yes, across driveways. Anyone who does that is completely disrespectful and a ‘prat’. However, it turned out that many of those people were actually private companies collecting money and then parking cars away from the airport site for one or two weeks…not prats like you make out.
2) the main street parking in Yeadon is over two miles from the terminal. There are dozens of literally empty streets around there… I’m assuming you don’t know the area.
3) your post seems to imply that if I take a taxi from my house, which I do (Menston) and leave my car on the street near to my house, which is where I leave it every night, then that makes me a prat as well????
Please try to be a little bit more informed.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with legal and considerate street parking.

Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
By the way, here is one example.
This is my current location… I’m 5.4 miles away from the airport, and surprise surprise, on a street where there are literally just a few cars at any one time. Would I be inconsiderate to park and travel from here using a taxi service that is based 800m away?
Again, I ask, please try to be a little more informed.

You ought not to explain yourself. You were being helpful and someone was just trying to be contrary for the sake of it.jdrobbo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 5:46 pmBy the way, here is one example.

Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
Personally, I wouldn’t want to leave my car on a street for a week or two, particularly in an area that I don’t know (not that there’s anything wrong with Yeadon or the surrounding areas).
LBA has a good few park and ride options that are minutes from the airport, reasonably priced, and from my experience, limited wait times at either end.
There are also a couple of on site car parks with a frequent shuttle bus. You could walk to and from the airport to these but better to get the bus, especially if the weather isn’t great. It’s a bit of a trudge with a suitcase in tow and it can be bleak up there if the weather isn’t great.
LBA is basic but it’s a great little airport and if it’s a choice of there of Manchester I’d pick LBA every time.

Nothing wrong with legal and considerate parking, as you can see from my post I wasn't referring to legal parkingjdrobbo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 5:38 pmWhat a strange post.

Iam unsure where you get the idea that getting a taxi from your house is what I was referring to....did you not mention Yeadon? Which is not where you live or park your car every night, which you say you do in Menston

Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
Have flown from Leeds Bradford many times- it’s a great airport.
Another shout for Sentinel. 3 mins away, last year they even charged my electric car up for me. They put 300 miles on it for £8. Bargain.
Early morning flights always leave on time, as the aircraft is already there. No night flights at LBA.
Once you’ve landed, passport control and baggage reclaim is a breeze ( unlike Manchester ), and you are in your car at Sentinel, usually within 40 mins of wheels down.
Manchester? You’d be lucky to be near the front of immigration by then.
Manchester has just got too big/busy. Not for me anymore if there is a choice.

Maybe it depends on what time of day you travel or whatever, but flew from LB last year to Spain, early afternoon and stood for an hour in the queue for security.
Whereas went to Lanzarote from Manny last month and breezed through in 10 minutes.
Maybe they were having an off day at LB...

Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
Sentinel is so easy to use. Pull up, hand your keys in, the bus is almost always waiting outside as they have them on a constant loop and it’s a 2 minutes journey. Same on the way back.
I prefer Leeds Bradford over other airports. Hate Manchester, it’s just too big.

To be clear, NONE of you chavvy LBA types are welcome to park anywhere near or in Ilkley.*
*Exceptions only for those driving Range Rover Evoques and in possession of a first class scheduled or private jet flight ticket.

Re: Leeds Bradford Airport
They have a couple of busy times, early morning and mid afternoon. Fast track essential for those 2 times, other than that, it’s a breeze. Often fly back to Dublin on the last flight… usually aim to be at security 35-40 minutes before take off, and just stroll through without queueing anywhere.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 6:57 pmMaybe it depends on what time of day you travel or whatever, but flew from LB last year to Spain, early afternoon and stood for an hour in the queue for security.

Apologies jdrobbo, it's nothing personal! My work takes me to London alot and my daughter lives in Surrey so I'm away more than I'm home at the moment. Hebden would be great but I'm off to Greece then.
Hope all the WYC are well and I will always try and make the meet ups.
PS: Ilkley parking spots are pristine for a reason, they are for Ilkley residents only!
