Having said that ,I think we’ve now ample cover at Centre Back,,but really need to replace ,or get back Maatsen,Tella ,and replace Barnes, you never know if Churlinov makes a speedy recover he may stay at the Turf ,and fulfill is potential.
there's nothing to suggest that Chulinov is anywhere near the standard required*

*please feel free to quote me on that if he turns into a world beater :D

Plenty of time still, I guess, but the squad at present is weaker than the one that finished the season.

People used to say this every pre season under Dyche, but perhaps we now expect it all to be sorted in time.

Presumably you are kidding
No not kidding. I think the approach is to put in low offers for about 20 players in the hope that one or two are successful, and then go back again near to the end of the transfer window if we have a weakness exposed in our first few premier league matches.

Just a hunch but I think that’s both miles off, and does a great disservice to the work that goes into recruitment.

Of course it is

The medical is designed to assess the risk a player may carry. In the instance I refer to above the physio who conducted the medical thought (and took Knockearts word) on the fact that his foot wasn't broken and just badly bruised.

What I'm saying is not in every circumstance is the medical as thorough as people are making out here. But you don't have to take my word for it, Paddy Kenny was pretty open recently about how he was signed off without doing naff all on occasion.
Exactly, a broken foot isn't really what the medical is about. You can have an injury and still easily pass a medical. Good to see you agree with me.

On the bog standard YouTube clips before he signed ,he looked impressive, don’t know if he wasn’t fully fit last season ,and his illness was a slow built up,he always looked like he enjoyed being here ,after some of the dummies we’ve put up with over the last few years ,I for one would be willing to give him another chance ,obviously clubs won’t be too keen to buy him after a serious illness ,can he be less effective than Bamford,Crouch ,Stephen’s ,Walters ,and quite a few more.

I sort of agree. And VK believes in player development and improvement. How old is Churlinov; 22?

I know what you mean but there is no evidence to show it’s not.

Even when an offer is accepted and medicals are about to or have taken place we have have pulled out on several occasions in the hope that some other player we prefer more might yet become available. I get the impression we mess around a lot of players with this approach.

Most clubs have various deals going on, some are their primary targets, some secondary etc

The primary ones will get the priority but like anything else a sale can be stopped at anytime simply because something else happens in the chain, we lost out on one player because the selling club missed out on their replacement and that was late on in the final day of the window and the player was with us waiting to sign

Yes some players will feel messed about, but equally deals have collapsed because the player suddenly wants more money, or is enticed by another club
Even agents get in the way with their demands

I doubt we operate differently to anyone else

The one area I would like to see some movement in, is recruiting a CM. To quote VK we need greater physicality and I see this as an area where we are exposed. Cork for me is at best a squad player, who will give his all, but the majority of PL teams have very good athletes and footballers in this position, who play aggressively but also possess great possession and passing skills. Jack will get brushed aside-it was already happening 2-3 years ago in the Prem. I think Cullen will play the majority of games and can step up, and I think Brownhill will be a rotational player, involved in most games but at times starting on the bench. I got excited with talk of Vranckx and Lokongo as possibilities, but it seems to have gone quiet. Hamer is the latest rumour but what can he do that Cullen can't. Any news from readers on a CM ??

So you know for a fact that we pulled out as a part of some plan?

A plan to ideally get our preferred targets as cheap as possible.

I am fascinated.

So do you think making an offer for Trafford which would see him as the 3rd most expensive English goalkeeper to date is also part of this plan?

Has he signed yet? He didn’t attend the planned medical
this week and it’s all gone very quiet. Again we could have got cold feet , like with Coulibally because it’s such a large fee.

I don’t think it is just about ‘getting them cheap’ each player is of a level, with strengths and weaknesses, both are fantastic players. It’s a series of weights and measures and the value the manger puts on various abilities… at certain prices the manger is looking at different aspects of the whole deal.

According to his IG stories he's on holiday at the moment. Maybe he completed medical earlier?

This, and agents probably pushing for a nice handshake.

Well at the moment whatever the negotiation strategy is it’s not working so far. The only players signed are one with a release clause and an out of contract player, not a lot of negotiation required there.

Is it true that he did not attend the medical (Trafford)?

I'm only going off a chance meeting with an aquaintance whose son has just signed for City (Harrison Parker), who randomly told me as he knows I'm a Claret that Trafford had, on Weds. As they were at the same centre that does them.

He might have got it wrong (Trafford is there, but does not have said Medical or something, but seems unlikely), but he was not fibbing or anything.

The players we are chasing this summer are different than last summer. Not only are we dealing for more developed players, but Burnley’s interest is no longer ignored by others. We are dealing with agents looking for the best deal so when one deal gets to a level we look at the players above, and below as they become better options. It is a domino that will trigger in the next week or two when the pressure turns from clubs to agents…. They need their players signed not wait to see who is fishing.

I see no problem at all.

I got the information about him not having his medical
when it was originally arranged from that podcast on Burnley’s transfers with Andy Jones from the Athletic, but they did not know the reason why and had not heard anything negative.

I think what’s still encouraging about Trafford , even though it’s gone quiet, is that we are not linked with any other keepers at the moment,we can just hope in the meantime that doesn’t change.

You’re in the North East - tell me how often did one of those players , based not a million miles away from you , play for his club last season in a league which provides the opportunity for 46 starts .

All of his medical information will be sent from City and England U21’s
A full medical can be done at a later date but the above information will be sufficient to get the transfer pretty much done

Okereke - Cremonese:

https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-b ... ey-1852808

Rough translation:

The newly promoted Burnley in the Premier League would be looking in Italy to reinforce its offensive department. According to what was collected by our editorial staff, the English club would have targeted David Okereke Cremonese.

The Nigerian striker born in '97 ended last season with nine goals in 38 games between Serie A and Coppa Italia. Difficult to hypothesize for the attacker a stay in Serie B .

Such information is always gathered / requested prior to a full medical. You can be very sure that no stone is left unturned these days .

Weston McKennie no longer wanted at Juve.

Weren’t we linked with him, albeit tenuously, in the same Jan window we bought Wout?

Could see us going for him, and I’m surprised we’ve not been linked with more American players.

He could even have had the medical, passed, signed but gone on holiday and not available for the Oh so vital reveal video.

That’s just down the road from me.
Which one is he - I will go and ask him if he has signed yet.

Very funny. I do hope we can shift him out.

I know what you mean but there is no evidence to show it’s not.

Even when an offer is accepted and medicals are about to or have taken place we have have pulled out on several occasions in the hope that some other player we prefer more might yet become available. I get the impression we mess around a lot of players with this approach.
I know we all have our own interpretations but likewise, there’s no evidence that the reasons you give for us pulling out of nearly confirmed deals, and Coulibaly and Ballard are the only two we can be sure have reached that stage, are for the reasons you suggest.
