If we signed both Vranckx and lokonga I think i might need a lie down. It would be an unbelievable window

Yes that would be ridiculous, particularly if we could loan Maatsen as well.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 4:07 pmIf we signed both Vranckx and lokonga I think i might need a lie down. It would be an unbelievable window

If we have signed Redmond as well, do we think
that means the end of our interest in Clarke and Fleming and any other forwards and wingers?

Isn’t flemming more of a 10 who can play an 8 but can do a job out wide if needednortheastclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 4:21 pmIf we have signed Redmond as well, do we think

I don’t think Costelloe pulled up any trees at League Two Bradford City last season so he should be nowhere near a Prem squad at this stage.

Dara Costelloe played 2 games in the Premier league when we were last up.Definately showed potential and highly rated by Irish coaches.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see us try to cash in on Costelloe like we did with jimmy dunne and Josh benson

He played a few games at the beginning of the season last year and did ok - though lacked a lot of end product and sadly didn’t impress at Bradford.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 4:54 pmDara Costelloe played 2 games in the Premier league when we were last up.Definately showed potential and highly rated by Irish coaches.

very optimistic to think we will get anything close to 1 million for Costelloe

Yes but you also said we could recall him from Coventry?Down_Rover wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 1:49 pmAs I said contracted until 2026. So we could sell to anyone other than Coventry
Thats why people are pointing out that he is no longer at Coventry.
Of course we can sell him to anyone, he is our player.

You're not making any sense, thats why people are pulling you up on it.
Check back to your original post. Why do you think other people as well as me are baffled by your quote about recalling him from Coventry??

How high do readers think we are prepared to bid on both Tella and Maatsen. We still need a LB badly but do we feel our recent transfer activity mean we have walked away from Tella
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think we’ve moved on from Tella, sadly. I’d love us to get Maatsen though.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 5:46 pmHow high do readers think we are prepared to bid on both Tella and Maatsen. I know right, only played 4 games for us and 11 times for Bradford. No goals. That’s 15 senior appearances (and he only played 16 times in Ireland). And he’s nearly 21.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 5:18 pmvery optimistic to think we will get anything close to 1 million for Costelloe

For me I think Maatsen is the more likely of the two to make a profit on

I thought he was excellent for us at Huddersfield other than the final part. Whilst playing for Rochdale got him some first team minutes I'm not sure it would have done much for his technical development, if VK thinks he has potential maybe a loan to somewhere in Belgium might be a better route for himroperclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 6:24 pmI know right, only played 4 games for us and 11 times for Bradford. Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
A lot of fringe players at good clubs go into a new pre-season full of optimism thinking its their season to make an impact. Most soon realise when they are second or third choice in a position that at best they might make the bench, but at the same time not even get close to the squad. For this reason I have a feeling players like Gomez, Maatsen. Palmer and Tella could become available to us shortly after the season has started

I’d definitely say Redmond has the credentials to do a decent job for us , hopefully the signing goes through without any last minute hitches.
It is looking like the chances of Tella signing have got slimmer but how exciting it would be to see him play again for us.
Left defensive side is a challenge and who knows what Kompany and crew are planning.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think Tella offered something different to our other wingers last season. His poachers instinct in the box and raw pace to stretch the opposition and take the pressure off will be hard to replace.
Also think it'll be hard to replace Maatsen's skill and understanding of the progressive way VK wants his full backs to play, something that could be seen when we played with Charlie instead.
Neither of their contributions last year should be underestimated. Be great to get them both back if we can.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Doubtful that he will have a fixed position . He’s very versatile in attacking roles.
He can play left right and as a 10.
I believe he may also adapt to the role JBG took up last season too or at least something similar . The goal he scored for Besiktas where he carried the ball from near half way was pretty decent to be fair to him.
