It’s funny because he’s a useless great lummox who the club should be doing everything they can to get off the books one way or another.
If I was as bad at my job as he has been the last 2 seasons I’d expect to be fired.

Re: Weghorst Reception
Booing your own players is utterly stupid.
It doesn't help the player and it reflects poorly on the club.
After all the good PR work which has promoted our image internationally we end up with headlines like:

Re: Weghorst Reception
The booing is 100% embarrassing but it might mean that the normal fans show him some support come the start of the season.
Saying that, I still think he’ll move on.

Re: Weghorst Reception
That's not really what I'm saying. Football fans shouldn't be so soft as to take anything but gushing enthusiasm for the club as a personal slight. Then we might actually get to hear a bit of insight.Claretnick wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 11:55 amFully agree with this, the club and Wout badly mishandled his departure last summer. He should have said nothing and the club could have spinned it that his loan move was required to help our finances following relegation. There would be none of this nonsense now in my opinion.
I just hope we can move on, an early goal in the PL from him would help, or a transfer that's beneficial to all. UTC

Re: Weghorst Reception
I do half wonder if this incident could be a watershed moment and be the catalyst for the club to actually come together and back Wout. It's a mightily embarrassing step back for the club after so much good PR work done, possibly a real chance for the minority to be ousted and their neanderthal beliefs booted from the in the main realistic and intelligent fan base.

Re: Weghorst Reception
Some people clearly don't agree with them version of events & think he has behaved inappropriately & on that basis booing is a valid course of action. I agree with what you have stated but I also realise & understand some people clearly see things differently.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 1:59 pmA guy agrees to sign for a football club when that football club are at the bottom of the division and looking odds on for relegation. That club requires all players to agree relegation clauses that reduce wages if/when the club is relegated. At the same time, the guy's national team manager has announced that his world cup squad will only have places for footballers playing in top divisions. What does anyone think the conversation will be between the club trying to sign this player and the player and his agent?
The club and the player did the right thing, they both signed a contract that included a loan spell away from the club in the event the club got relegated.
Some on here claim their right to express their negative feelings about the situation as though someone has done something wrong.
Meanwhile we have another thread where lots of posters are showing their concerns for a poster who has shared information about his personal life.

Heck, I started this thread and I personally do not rate him one bit - but that is irrelevant to the point here. No matter what he has ‘done’, no matter his performances for us, there is no excuse whatsoever for booing him and calling him a ****** when he’s an active Burnley player wearing our shirt, selected by Kompany.
We need to get behind him if he’s sticking around - this is what the manager would want and rightly expect. Everyone would probably agree that Weghorst has everything to prove for Burnley, but he’s not going to succeed here if he’s getting pelters from us.

I’ve sort of written him off as a Burnley player and don’t expect to see him play a competitive game for us again, but who knows.

He has proved through his performances for us and Man Utd, he cannot score in the premier league. So he is as much use as a chocolate fireguard. No amount of support from the fans is going to change that. And his antics have turned a lot of fans against him.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 6:00 pmI don’t think anyone’s saying that.
