Disappointing but when Nixon said it was not agreed yet that poured cold water on it being at a medical stage really.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 5:31 pmTella with the Southampton squad this evening so they can’t be anything agreed yet

When you sell a player, like Cornet, you have to pay all the outstanding instalments on the transfer fee.SirBob wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 4:14 pmDon’t really see the relevance to this.
We may not be paying it all upfront be we are also paying for all the other previous transfers we’ve made in the last few windows.
We’re probably still paying out for Weghorst and Cornet and not to mention the fees we paid for last summer and in January
Most of that money was factored with Macquarie so we have already received the future instalments.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 4:43 pm
And also getting money in from Cornet, Collins, Pope, McNeil and Wood.
It's a brave strategy of signing young, impressing and selling on for big fees. It's tough to get right year after year without some deep pockets to cover the slow periods (Brighton were hundreds of millions in debt by the time they started to get it working) but we've made a promising start (admittedly without the selling bit).
It's easy to get carried away with it though, on the Beehole End podcast for instance one of them was suggesting that the prices for the players we'd signed this summer were pretty much guaranteed to go up instantly which is a bit mad.

For me a new centre midfielder is the most important signing we require .

100%. He was an amazing player for us last season. I'd be so much more confident about our chances this year with him in the squad.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 3:30 pmTotally agree re: Nathan Tella. For me he was the heartbeat of the club last season. His goals, pace, absolute enthusiasm foe everything Claret rubbed off on the pitch and made its way very quickly to the supporters. We need that back from the off this season so we need him around.
Also, his personality and joy are there for everyone to see. That must make a difference to the other players around him.

Agreed-we are lightweight there. Think VK is well aware, and we must assume this is proving extremely difficult to fill. Funny how we got excited about Bastian this time last year but now he seems an awful long way from startingexpoultryboy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 5:58 pmFor me a new centre midfielder is the most important signing we require .

Very disappointing to see, yet again, dodgy “in the know” info being passed around.
As I’ve previously posted, if you go by the stuff posted on this thread, Burnley must hold the record for the number of medicals apparently booked that never translate into signings. We must be on 100+ medicals up to now alone.

I'll wait for the apology when he signs
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Will somebody post the link to what Nixon said.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
You can have one mate, absolutely gladly, if it turns out he’s had a medical and signed this week like you said.
There’s been quite a bit of people making stuff up on this thread so it’s a case of believe it when you see it

Burnley Express journalist has confirmed that fee for Tella is not agreed and medical is not booked. Yet another wrong info from "ITK's".

I think it would be beneficial for you to take a look at the post from CT “This Message Board”. Or alter the way you come across in your posts mate.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Our local journalists don't have a good record of being upto date on transfers. Even if they are ITK, they don't share until is pretty much guaranteed due to their agreement with the club on the information they feed them.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
That’s true but they will usually confirm things if something is at a medical stage

Regardless of the veracity of the Burnley Express reporters, surely we can all agree that Tella being on the bench for a meaningless friendly (where it would be easy to leave him out) means we have no fee agreed and no medical booked?

On the bench doesn't mean he is actually playing. I can imagine this being part of the stand off. Leaving him out would be accepting defeat, starting him would be dangerous...on the bench means nowt!jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 7:06 pmRegardless of the veracity of the Burnley Express reporters, surely we can all agree that Tella being on the bench for a meaningless friendly (where it would be easy to leave him out) means we have no fee agreed and no medical booked?

I stand by what I posted. Tella is inbound, I’ve no idea about medicals etc or why he’s on the bench tonight but I’ve got 100% trust in the person who told me that it’s done.
Time will tell I guess but the info I’ve been given is 100% genuine, I’ve never been given duff info in the past. This was sent to me with absolute excitement that it’s finally happening. I’d be shocked if this doesn’t happen. Look back through my posts to see that I don’t post make belief rumours

Hope you’re right mate - don’t think anyone is being bolshy about you saying what you’ve heard/saying you’re lying etc. I personally appreciate people saying what they’ve been informed if it’s a source they themselves know is sound.Penwortham_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 7:29 pmI stand by what I posted. I see Forest have signed Elanga for £15 mill. I’d have thought they would have wanted more than that.

Sam Surridge, linked with us a lot last January, has joined Nashville in MLS as a designated player.

Bit like the rumours started tonight about people seeing him down Gawthorpe at tea time yet he was in the squad at Southampton
People need to check before spouting rumours

Did someone say they had seen him at Gawthorpe at tea time ?
If they did say that then guess it’s not a rumour - it’s just a lie.
What is it you want people to check if they have heard a rumour ?

First thing sensible people did was check if he was in the Saints squad tonight.
Bottom line is if he's playing tonight the deal for him to come here is not even close to being 'done'

I think Tella did the last 20 mins or so.
On another unrelated note, I’ll be amazed if we don’t sign Townsend after tonight.
