Not necesarily, even Nixon has said negotiations are ongoing with Tella so things are happening, just not fast enough for some.

Don’t really see the relevance to this.

We may not be paying it all upfront be we are also paying for all the other previous transfers we’ve made in the last few windows.

We’re probably still paying out for Weghorst and Cornet and not to mention the fees we paid for last summer and in January

When you sell a player, like Cornet, you have to pay all the outstanding instalments on the transfer fee.

And also getting money in from Cornet, Collins, Pope, McNeil and Wood.

Most of that money was factored with Macquarie so we have already received the future instalments.


It's a brave strategy of signing young, impressing and selling on for big fees. It's tough to get right year after year without some deep pockets to cover the slow periods (Brighton were hundreds of millions in debt by the time they started to get it working) but we've made a promising start (admittedly without the selling bit).

It's easy to get carried away with it though, on the Beehole End podcast for instance one of them was suggesting that the prices for the players we'd signed this summer were pretty much guaranteed to go up instantly which is a bit mad.

Totally agree re: Nathan Tella. For me he was the heartbeat of the club last season. His goals, pace, absolute enthusiasm foe everything Claret rubbed off on the pitch and made its way very quickly to the supporters. We need that back from the off this season so we need him around.

100%. He was an amazing player for us last season. I'd be so much more confident about our chances this year with him in the squad.

Also, his personality and joy are there for everyone to see. That must make a difference to the other players around him.

Agreed-we are lightweight there. Think VK is well aware, and we must assume this is proving extremely difficult to fill. Funny how we got excited about Bastian this time last year but now he seems an awful long way from starting

As I’ve previously posted, if you go by the stuff posted on this thread, Burnley must hold the record for the number of medicals apparently booked that never translate into signings. We must be on 100+ medicals up to now alone.

Our local journalists don't have a good record of being upto date on transfers. Even if they are ITK, they don't share until is pretty much guaranteed due to their agreement with the club on the information they feed them.

That’s true but they will usually confirm things if something is at a medical stage

Regardless of the veracity of the Burnley Express reporters, surely we can all agree that Tella being on the bench for a meaningless friendly (where it would be easy to leave him out) means we have no fee agreed and no medical booked?

On the bench doesn't mean he is actually playing. I can imagine this being part of the stand off. Leaving him out would be accepting defeat, starting him would be dangerous...on the bench means nowt!

Time will tell I guess but the info I’ve been given is 100% genuine, I’ve never been given duff info in the past. This was sent to me with absolute excitement that it’s finally happening. I’d be shocked if this doesn’t happen. Look back through my posts to see that I don’t post make belief rumours

Hope you’re right mate - don’t think anyone is being bolshy about you saying what you’ve heard/saying you’re lying etc. I personally appreciate people saying what they’ve been informed if it’s a source they themselves know is sound.

Yes started as a lie with the intention of it becoming a rumour.
First thing sensible people did was check if he was in the Saints squad tonight.
Bottom line is if he's playing tonight the deal for him to come here is not even close to being 'done'
