Just out of interest, I wonder if anyone else’s vehicle was bricked by these morons? It was probably kids who did it, so were they specifically targeting the Villa coach or just bricking vehicles in a large volume of traffic?
Not making excuses for it though. And disappointed that it happened in our town.
Video makes it clear they were targeting the Villa coach

Yes, I know it’s captured on coach video. I was just wondering if any other vehicles had been targeted also?

Ok google maps is wrong for junction numbers.
It isn't, and I don't think it was earlier today.

The lads filmed themselves, it's posted on this thread and really clear they were targeting it cos it was the Villa coach

I said it after the incidents during Man City match and I’ll say the same today. A lot of people work very hard to try to improve the town’s image. I always hope that Premier League football will provide a view of Burnley to the rest of the world and a positive impression that can lead to investment and jobs in the area which in turn will provide prospects for the younger generation. You can almost imagine the observations and comments from people reading this news.

So just my google maps app then?
Or was J10 too vague a search term?

It won't have recognised the 'j10', it's just showing you an arbitrary point on the M65 (junction 6 in this case).

If it hadn’t picked an arbitrary point next to a junction I would have questioned it more.

Yes, maybe your search was too vague, but if you look at the actual google map (rather than the above satellite view) it clearly marks the slip roads on both sides of the junctions with their correct numbers.

We all live and learn. It appears to me that the J6 (Rishton) is exactly the midpoint of the motorway, so that explains it.

Issue now is that our team bus will be fair game for Birmingham idiots to attack. Apparently since the Man City coach was attacked at Anfield the Liverpool coach has been attacked at City. Just what goes through these peoples tiny brains is beyond me.

These idiots really aren’t that clever to specifically target the Villa team coach. It’s not emblazoned with emblems or signage, it’s just a dark grey/black coach with I think ‘Birmingham International’ on the side.

Half baked idea to throw a brick at a coach because they think it’s funny.

Waited for any coach to come along, and it just so happened to be the Villa team coach. And if you watch the video, one of them throws a w@nker sign, more than likely thinking it’s full of away fans.

You’re right DA, it may be nonsense, it may not be the case, it’s just my take.

I’ve dealt with cretins like this many times, and I just don’t think they have the intelligence to specifically target a certain coach.

And as for daveisaclaret, he’s only showing himself up. I’ve heard it for 17 years, it’s nothing new.

When it was parked outside the Longside after the game it had a sign saying Aston Villa Team Coach in the windscreen. Not sure if it still had that on once it set off, mind.

I am not too worried about people who don't know who the met police are and don't know what they do.

It is really clear that the young idiots who threw the brick at the Villa coach knew exactly who they were targeting though.

It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to work out the strong possibility it could have been, not too long after the football game a posh executive coach heading for the motorway maybe even in the Blackburn/Preston lane heading south for the eventual M6.

Usually up for condemning anything and everything but honestly...someone throwing a brick at a coach at a motorway junction isn't necessarily even a Burnley fan, never mind someone who's been on the match. Get them found and dealt with but I can't relate this to the idiot who chucked a lighter at this point.
This is the first post to even express the possibility it was not a Burnley fan. First thing I thought.

Not a football issue. This is a society issue where some idiots do not care whatsoever about other people as long as they have their fun. Does anybody think that when there is not a match on they are well behaved respected members of the community?

seen the video now, theres no way those 2 unwashed sub-humans have been on the turf, probably ever.

i cant distinguish from the video if it is targetting the Aston Villa coach, or they'd have been chucking bricks at the motorway regardless. Probably the latter.

hopefully they are caught and charge.

on another note about embarrassing, our home support is dreadful. never seen it as quiet

That bus was specifically targeted I think had they been lobbing bricks at random traffic you would have thought somebody would have notified the police sooner & upto now no other motorists have complained. You can only get away with something like that for so long before someone or something stops you in your tracks.

Not that it matters, because it's sickening, but.....and after watching the video

1/. Has it hit the windscreen? Surely, its more likely to be a side window?

2/. A full brick? Uphill? Or should it be better reported as a 1/4 brick? Or a stone?

I read the report that a full brick had been thrown down onto the windscreen from above, from a footbridge.

If this video is correct, surely it should more accurately be reported as

A stone has been thrown up from an underpass that has smashed the villa team coach's window.

Two home games in and the knuckle-dragging part of town has managed to make the national news and damage the club's image each time.

Maybe it will be third time lucky against Spurs and the game will pass without incident.

I read the report that a full brick had been thrown down onto the windscreen from above, from a footbridge.

If this video is correct, surely it should more accurately be reported as

A stone has been thrown up from an underpass that has smashed the villa team coach's window.
Feels like we’re reaching a bit here.

I think the salient point is some quarter-witted mouth breather has deliberately lobbed a brick at the Villa team coach.

Getting caught up on which window was hit, or the precise dimensions of the projectile somewhat missed the point.

I also find it embarrassing to have our supporters associated with this stupidity, not sure how much of a brain that indicates I have.

Whether it was the Villa team, Villa supporters or the Southport branch of the WI coming back from a trip to Boundary Mill, the idiots (I’ve self censored what I want to call them) from our first 2 games have damaged the good work that has gone on over the last 12 months in not only promoting to the rest of the world Burnley as a club, but Burnley as a town

I am not trying to excuse the inexcusable.

This incident has gone out in a press release to the world's media. I am asking for accuracy, that's all.

The way I read the press release is far more likely to lead to a fatality than what is shown in the video.

The incident is sickening and dangerous enough without the press release over-dramatising it. Accurate reporting.
