Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Maybe I'm the exception but that team, to me, looks more coherent than Sunday's team.

Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Don’t think I’m going to see much tonight. Stuck in one horrendous jam on the M1.
Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
The best team we could have picked 18 months ago included
Pope, Cornet, Weghorst, Tarks, Mee, McNeil. Also included would have been Brownhil and Taylor who are included today.
I appreciate people being positive but let's try and keep it based In reality.

It’s horrendous - been stuck now for an age. Doubt we will be there for half time.

I was stuck on the m1 last week on my way to Nottingham. They actually shut junction 29 as a lorry had caught fire it took me through the surrounding towns it was horrendousClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 7:23 pmDon’t think I’m going to see much tonight. Stuck in one horrendous jam on the M1.

Doubt if Redmond could play much worse than Benson did on Sunday.spt_claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 7:21 pmWould be happier with Foster and Benson over Redmond and Jay but here's hoping the squad players stake a claim.

No worries, the Clarets are ready and the moon is blue. UTC!
Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Pope and Tarky I'll give you, and Mee as well, but for me Jay ahead of Wout every day. Even though he's barely kicked a ball for us I honestly have always rated Redmond over McNeill as a footballer, Cornet blew hot and cold, but when he was hot he was special, can't deny that, but when I think of the team of 18 months ago, it's not just the players, it's the form of the players and how we played. JBG is playing better now than then, so is Roberts (by a mile), and I don't think the team of 18 months ago had a talent as highly rated as Ramsay. I think that's a fairly grounded take tbh. We were beyond shite the last time we were in this league.

Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Some folk are never satisfied ,2yrs ago we’d have Long ,Stephen’s,Lennon, and a load of dross ,can folk remember losing to Stanley with Flanagan playing football ,the more success we have the more we want ,Dyche would be happy for us to lose ,can’t image VK putting up with anything less than 100%.Spiral wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 7:35 pmPope and Tarky I'll give you, and Mee as well, but for me Jay ahead of Wout every day. Doesn’t look a bad side to me. COYC!!
Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
It's a good side it just 'feels' like an old guard/squad players being given a run out kind of team. Most interested in seeing (hearing) how Larsen and Ramsay do because Larsen has looked bright in his sub cameos and Ramsay is very highly rated.

Never thought I’d say this but according to Stuart Broad, Burnley are knocking the ball about lovely.

Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Glad Redmond getting a start because he looked like he hadn’t kicked a football for a year when he came on against Villa. Good opportunity tonight to show if he will add anything on the field to our season or just be in the background giving his experience to our youngsters
Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
LIAR. Flanagan has never played 'football' as such in his career. He might have been on a pitch when a game coincidentally was being played, but that's something different altogether from playing football.
Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Agree about Larsen. He’s impressed me.

Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Like a gammon I'm boycotting SSN since they sacked all the white middle aged men (and replaced them with more likeable pundits) in some spasm of political correctness gone mad, but for anyone watching it, are the cricket puns laid off for Stuart Broad as try-hard and as insufferable and as cringe as I'm imagining them to be?
Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
No, he seems to be knocking them all for 6 at the minuteSpiral wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 7:59 pmLike a gammon I'm boycotting SSN since they sacked all the white middle aged men (and replaced them with more likeable pundits) in some spasm of political correctness gone mad, but for anyone watching it, are the cricket puns laid off for Stuart Broad as try-hard and as insufferable and as cringe as I'm imagining them to be?

So is there match commentary on radio lancs? Obviously no good to me in Bristol but the days when Holy Custard relayed the info were golden

Did this commentator actually just say one or two weren't confident in Muric's distribution? It's like the one think he's genuinely world class for.

Sounds like Brun Larsen playing a few good balls in and we are controlling the game quite well.

Stuart Broad is actually a good pundit. He has done his homework on Burnley and, despite being a Forest fan, is giving a very balanced analysis.

Saving tackle by O’Shea following mistake by Vitinho
Re: Florist v Burnley - Match Thread
Most pundits get too comfortable and just phone it in I think. They think they can just turn up two hours before broadcast and go at it, but all the legendary commentators were researching all week leading up to the games they covered. It looks like your job is just 90 minutes a week, but there's so much that goes into it. Pundits should do the same. Suspect that with this being a big new thing for Broad he's been swotting up all week, as it should be.
