Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
We are late submitting correct accounts and get slapped with a transfer ban.
Everton ride roughshod over their finances and not even a fine as I'm aware of as yet.
That could have had serious consequences for ourselves and Leeds.

Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
The hearing is apparently scheduled for next month - it will be behind closed doors - we will only hear about the judgement and not necessarily the reasons for that judgement - there have been talks in the last month about accelerating the process in the future to be heard within 3 months from the charges being made for the simple cases - however this would not cover all instances as the Manchester City case amply illustratesIt Is What It Is wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 5:02 pmWe are late submitting correct accounts and get slapped with a transfer ban.

Not holding out much hope of punishment and justice from the hearing. The Premier league have appointed the chair after seeking Everton's recommendations and in steps Mrs Gladys Street

In answer to the OP, yes.
By that I mean they may well have a case to answer, but the answers given will see punishment significantly less damaging than points deductions.

Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
The takeover rumour has strangely come at a time when it suits everton and the prem. You can see the headlines now " the club have given us certain assurances blah blah blah", they'll end up with a fine suspended, and threat of future points deduction.
Anything harsher reflects on the prem not keeping their house in order with chelsea and man city yet to be swept under the murky carpet.

On the other hand, people at other clubs don't see our ban from signing players in April and May as a significant punishment! It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 5:02 pmWe are late submitting correct accounts and get slapped with a transfer ban.

Didn’t Burnley and Watford allegedly get a pay off to drop the lawsuit following relegation ?

Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
Well it actually wasn't significant because the window wasn't open. It assured however that we dealt promptly with the situation so that we could sign players as soon as the window opened. IMO, it was a sensible and appropriate sanction.
The only question would be whether such a sanction would be applied consistently to other clubs?

Evertons hearing is because of a tax issue regarding the stadium.
NOT due to their finances or breaking FFP

That is intriguing because the Premier League have:
- not stated which rules have allegedly been broken
- only stated that it pertains to Profit and Sustainability rules in the season 2021/22
all the rules cited in the official statement refer to process

The BBC reported it and all top Everton journos like Paul Joyce, hunter etc also confirmed it and Alan Myers via SSN.

The charge, which is understood to relate to a tax issue surrounding loans for the club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, was levelled against Everton in March after the submission of their accounts for the 2021-22 campaign.

modern footy is one big financial irregularity.
Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
Who cares?
Chelsea have spent a billion in one year and not broke any rules, just bent them with longer contracts.

Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
Would now appear so. PL were concerned about 777 takeover and wished to undertake some scrutiny. However Everton ploughed on and take over completed this morning leaving the PL impotent. PL may be quietly relieved that the financial irregularities were under a previous regime and that nothing need be actioned now.

They haven't taken over this morning, they've signed an agreement to purchase 94% of the club which is Moshiri's shareholding. The deal remains subject to regulatory approval, including from the Premier League, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority.matucana wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 10:19 amWould now appear so. Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
Reports suggest it is as good as a done deal with Everton, Moshiri and 777 giving similar vibes. The regulatory scrutiny will be minimal. A new stadium for the PL and FA beckons.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 10:25 am

Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
It shouldn't matter which regime the irregularities were under. It's the legal entity of Everton FC that is in the dock, not the owners.matucana wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 10:19 amWould now appear so. If EFC get new owners,it will be interesting to see how long it will be before Dychey gets potted
Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
Seventon will get of lightly, these people wouldn't be coming in if there was a sniff of a points deduction and subsequent relegation, they'll of had off the record assurances without a doubt. Don't ask Merseyside police to look at any potential corruption those plodder are still examing Richarlison videos to see if an offence of throwing a flare was committed.

Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
My brother said there was a report on Sky News, that a couple of creditors to Moshiri/ Everton, have a clause that in the event of any sale they would be entitled to the loans being repaid in full.
They don't want the debt passing on to 777.
Moshiri has said he can't afford to pay them off, and if they scupper the sale he will refuse to invest any more money to EFC.
It has all the hallmarks of another disaster.

American investment companies tend to want to take money out, not put it in. That's the way American sports ownership tends to work - with a view to making a profit.BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 5:28 pmIf it does go through they could repeat Newcastle's trajectory from the season we went down

Re: Have Everton got away with their financial irregularities?
My wife’s family are Everton fans and they’ve said the 777 outfit are known as asset strippers. They’re not enthused one jot, albeit they’ve pointed out they don’t have any assets to strip, so they rather tongue in cheek said it can’t be any worse. Their best hope is they move to the new ground and that then attracts bigger, better investment.
What happens between now and then, however, will be extremely interesting……..

There doing much better now under Dyche, they'd still finish 15 PTS clear of us with a deduction

From what I know of them I wouldn't describe 777 as asset strippers. But they may drive the club into the ground trying to turn a profit so probably not that important a distinction for the fans.Cheshireclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 11:26 pmMy wife’s family are Everton fans and they’ve said the 777 outfit are known as asset strippers. Don't know why we don't just splurge £1bn out on players etc and tell all and sundry the accounts are delayed for a decade.
Nowt will happen.
