You're possibly/definitely right Rileybobs.

Gueye from 8 years ago certainly, he’s pap these days.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 6:08 pmI’m quite confident that on an individual basis the majority of this Everton 11 would get into our team;
Pickford - definitely
Mykolenko - definitely
Tarkowski - definitely
Branthwaite - no
Young - possibly
Danjuma - possibly
Gueye - definitely
Doucoure - definitely
Onana - definitely
McNeil - possibly
Beto - definitely
We don’t have a left back so Young/Mykolenko get in by default, they’re not good though.
I know Burnley fans have a love in with Tarkowski but he’s nothing more than a really bang average lower Pl level central defender in reality. He will never hit the heights of some the lads we have now in his position.
Re: Today's Football
Everton are just so, so bad with the football at feet. These players are miles better individually than the ones Dyche had here as well.

Re: Today's Football
I wont mention it again but Dwight has done absolutely nothing of note in this game.
He has hardly done anything at all.
Barely a significant contribution.
Hardly touched the ball in the attacking third.
Dyche can't think this is the best use of his talents

The likes of Al Dakhil and O’Shea will count themselves very fortunate if they have a career like Tarkowski’s.

Re: Today's Football
I'd say at least 2 of those are met in that particular incident. Either way it's been given but it's an interesting debateRileybobs wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 5:37 pmThe following criteria should be used, as appropriate, as indicators that a player was in control of the ball and, as a result, ‘deliberately played’ the ball:
The ball travelled from distance and the player had a clear view of it
The ball was not moving quickly
The direction of the ball was not unexpected
The player had time to coordinate their body movement, i.e. it was not a case of instinctive stretching or jumping, or a movement that achieved limited contact/control
A ball moving on the ground is easier to play than a ball in the air

Very solid good Prem player is Tarks.

Imagine thinking that Tarkowski wouldn't displace O'Shea

4 mins for Everton is laughable.

Thought there would have been a lot more than 4 minutes injury time.

Dwight must have been told not to go chasing the ball and stay clise to the FB.
He's not even particularly good defensively.

Re: Today's Football
Pantomime in the bottom left corner...............hilarious stuff from Arsenal.
Re: Today's Football
Dyche definitely getting well fed. Looked very chunky today.
Re: Today's Football
4 mins added time a joke
4.34 mins played an even bigger joke
Bet it would have been different had it been 1-0 to Everton with Arseholes chasing the game

Re: Today's Football
Poor old Sean is he ever going to get to manage a team of silky footballers? Everton are a mirror image of us a few years ago ,absolute dross.

Everton wouldn’t have scored if they’d played 4 hours of injury time. Absolutely turgid stuff.

Re: Today's Football
Everton's Full Back played Saka really well.
Pencil him in the team sheet
Pencil him in the team sheet
Re: Today's Football
Can’t imagine what they’d bring to us Doucoure is dreadful ,at least we have a young team and hopefully they’ll improve as the season develops, can you really imagine any of the Everton team improving this season? we might after alter our set up to be slightly more defensive but I reckon Benson ,Zaroury,& Koleosho have more flair in their big toes than all of the Everton squad.
Re: Today's Football
Whatever the FA do they seem to make the wrong call. They could do to learn something from rugby here. Stop the clock when the ball is out or there is an injury - whatever - and finish the game after 90 minutes on the clock.
Re: Today's Football
Al Dakhil has good potential of course. But he has a way to go to match Tarkowski. Who was superb for us.

Probably the best Burnley player since the 60's, deserves much, much more respect than you are offering.

Don't think the Evertonians will put up with playing like that much longer. Set up like a lower league team hoping to nick a result in a cup tie.

Re: Today's Football
The Dyche era revisionists are so tiresome.
We’re filled with young talent right now but some posters/fans act like we’re miles ahead of what we were.
If people genuinely think O’Shea has more to his game than Tarkowski then let’s not bother. Mee is a standout performer for Brentford as well.

Re: Today's Football
I have seen Waldron, Phelan and Thompson all play in a Burnley shirt. Tarks as a defender and CH is far the better. The game is much faster and technical today and Tarks at his peak (when we finished 7th) got into the England team. For me he is probably the best Burnley CH since our great team of the late 50's /early 60's
I thought Everton were poor today however they defended magnificently against a great Arsenal side with only one save needed by Pickford. Arsenal's goal was sensational and Everton could easily have grounded a point but for that strike, which would have been undeserved

I agree we have a some young talent but they have a way to go yet. With regards to Tarkowski he also was a standout performer in our years in the Premier League and todays young talented squad will do well to emulate that.

That Everton performance was turgid and I almost feel sorry for their fans having to watch that every week.
Almost certain they’ll go down this season.

Re: Today's Football
If the grand old team forum put some tactics or advice on there instead of moaning after every match they might have a chance changing their fortunes.
Wonder which foreign manager is being lined up for this takeover? Probably someone from Spain.

Re: Today's Football
They have been lucky to escape relegation a couple of times now and yes probably deserve to go down. BUT their squad doesn't have the players to compete with Arsenal and given the money they have spent in, for example, the Lampard and Ancelotti eras, its bad management. The same can be applied to Man U.claret2018 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 7:37 pmThat Everton performance was turgid and I almost feel sorry for their fans having to watch that every week.

Re: Today's Football
I’d agree with that and have said previously that we’re missing a player of his quality and experience to not only guide our young team but to show strong leadership in that position, something I really think we currently lack.
Re: Today's Football
Football is littered with promising youngsters who got called up to the international squad but never made it.
Hopefully Al Dakhil will go on to surpass Tarkowski rather than the next John Flanagan but it's very early to make that call.
