Beyer coming off for Delcroix.
Be interesting to see how we deal with what is obviously going to be a late longball lumping onslaught.

Re: Match Thread
The point is that having a VAR system isn't the problem when other sports manage just fine which are played at equal high pace, and when other football leagues manage better. Germany have the refs mic'd up for example.
VAR or no VAR is absolutely irrelevant when we have this same pool of wankers regardless, with zero accountability, zero consequences for consistently inconsistent decisionmaking, and zero need to even explain their decisions anymore. All this talk of 'protecting refs' is absurd, they're already protected, they're bulletproof, they can make endless 'mistakes' and nothing ever happens for it.

Erm we’re playing Forrest, one of the few clubs in the league less glamorous than us.spt_claret wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 9:26 pm"tedious conspiracy theories"
Serie A had matchfixing in the 00s.
The amount of money at stake in the Premier League, for major organisations tied up in the clubs and for the broadcasters, especially with having fashionable big brand moneymaking clubs do well and keep the money flowing, is so much, that corruption ought to be expected.
Finances and greed trigger corruption in every single walk of life. Football is not immune to this.
People need to stop pretending that it doesn't benefit Sky, the FA, the EPL, and the big boys at the top, to ensure the big boys always stay at the top and that as many of the 20 teams in the Premier League as possible are big brand city clubs.

Re: Match Thread
The number of goals ive seen choked of this year, that are completely subjective and not clear and obvious, means that var is not worth it.. a defender running back in the box and touching his chest arm like that would never be given as a pen

Re: Match Thread
To me it's the crux of his shoulder, top of his arm. And its clearly not an intentional handball but an attempt to use his shoulder/chest to knock the ball forward. Its an awful decision

Re: Match Thread
Hyper analysing dynamic actions in stills by seeing a ball glance off loose shirt material and deeming it handball is beyond mental.
Burnley fans rightly have right to be aggrieved because of the absolute crap we’ve seen to us over the years. Countless decisions to Arsenal for nothing, the Leeds/Mee debacle.
This is more than coincidence , it’s literally every effing time with us

Re: Match Thread
They're a city club with richer owner, 2 European Cups to their name, and a long topflight tenure until the late 90s. Regardless of their recent history they are absolutely perceived as a bigger and more glamorous club than Burnley- we're a small town club without European pedigree whose last major trophy was over 20 years before theirs.claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 9:31 pmErm we’re playing Forrest, one of the few clubs in the league less glamorous than us.
