50th anniversary of my first Clarets match. My childhood memory is of an excellent game. Even to my young eyes, Ipswich were the better team and the margin flattered us in the end but Taffy was fantastic and had we had Casper who knows! One thing that sticks in the mind was an old guy behind us with a bell which he rang to encourage the Clarets forwards. In those non-segregated days we were stood down the side of what is now the Cobbold Stand (I think).

Just as a matter of interest, other than Tony, were any other UTC posters there?

I'm sure there would have been. It was surprising that Ipswich hadn't started the season that well, they had a decent team at the time under Bobby Robson's management. That was probably as well as I've seen us play at Ipswich.

I was there and stood on the side also. I think there were only a couple of coaches to that game which is crazy considering the start to the season we'd made.

It seems to me we always used to lose at Ipswich until Scott Arfield headed in Trippier’s cross in the first Dyche promotion season

I missed the win in 1970 so the Arfield goal saw me win there for the only time.
