We look so pretty on the eye
Until we get to the important parts in attack and defence.
It looks good but bloody hell, we're going down quite comfortably.

Struggling to find the words really, so these will have to suffice in the meantime.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 11:58 pmUntil we get to the important parts in attack and defence.

I don't fish.
If you're happy with third rate Man City tippy tappy shite with no end product and no striker, then it's well done Burnley.

Re: We look so pretty on the eye
I've seen a new team with some seriously talented and inexperienced players trying to put it together in the biggest and arguably strongest league on the planet whilst playing for an inexperienced but seriously exciting manager. If you think we are just playing tippy tappy shite then you aren't paying attention. We were a posts width from taking the lead tonight which could well have given us a victory against a side that scored 3 against Bayern Munich a few days ago.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 12:17 amOkay, what did you see today and what have you seen this season?
You can't be that dim, I refuse to believe you aren't fishing !!!

Look on the bright side. If that goal against Forest hadn't been disallowed, we would have the same number of wins now as we got from the first five games last season. And we managed to avoid relegation last season, so I think it's too early to give up now.

Re: We look so pretty on the eye
We have the youngest side in the league and they’ve only been playing/training together for a few weeks, and of our first six opponents (including the next one) 5 of them are playing European football this season.
For me, the biggest problem we have is we need to be quicker getting forward in transitions. The better teams seem much quicker to play an out ball - we seem very slow and ponderous when we win the ball back.
But we will improve and the opponents will get easier. Still confident we’ll be ok this season.

I beg to differ.
Re: We look so pretty on the eye
Could and should have beaten Forest and Manu. Fine margins as Dyche used to say but had we had have 6 points on the board things would look completely different.

VK’s biggest problem could be keeping team morale up.

Re: We look so pretty on the eye
The title of the thread is spot on, not the conclusion of the OP
Who'd have thought we'd ever see such fantastic stuff played on 't Turf, playing on the front foot against the big boys?
This team is much stronger than last season's team, and at the moment is paying the price of stepping up. Look at how many points we lost last season due to small mistakes whilst bedding in new players. Such mistakes are punished even quicker in the Premier League.
We lost to one absolute quality strike yesterday, and had chances of our own. Definitely deserved a point.
So just sit back and relax, encourage the team and enjoy the ride even if we go down.

Re: We look so pretty on the eye
First half was excellent in many ways. It looked like it had started to click and I had the same feelings I got early last season. There is some amazing talent on that pitch in our colours. When we link up or carry the ball we don't look like a standard Burnley team.
The players are so talented in this league that you get punished for minor errors. It was a great finish and most players don't execute that the majority of the time. Our issue was subs last night. We needed them earlier. Browny went a bit strange second half as well. He pushed up alongside Ramsey for 15 mins which led to our CBs passing it around and struggling for an out.
I understand the frustration with the result because that is a **** United team but it still has some very expensive, very talented individuals and a manager that is worried about his job.
I think someone is going to get pasted soon. We need to stick with the team.

Re: We look so pretty on the eye
We looked very good first half, but faded, and considering the talent on the bench, disappointed we did not freshen things earlier. For example Benson was on for only 8 minutes but got two shots in
The biggest issue last night for me was we never had anyone near or around the Utd 6 yard box. It only happened twice when Amdouini nearly scored each time. Larsen hit a brilliant low cross into their penalty area towards full time and there must have been 5 of the Utd defenders around it-Jay was not even within 20 yards of goal. I think the Foster ban will prove more costly than we anticipated
Improvement is evident and happening albeit slowly-sadly there are very few poor teams in the PL, and I cannot remember the quality of goal finishing we are seeing this season. What I would give for a 0-0 draw right now

Re: We look so pretty on the eye
When we finally move we look good but the tedium of the passing side ways and backwards before anything happens is boring. Whether it is all some master plan I can't say but it looks more accidental when things get going.
As Man Utd also played like that I can imagine neutrals would have turned off their TV.

Re: We look so pretty on the eye
Football fans the most fickle people out there madness. We will be okay I suspect this season we will get a lot of our points away from home we will be fine though and actually if we aren’t okay we are at least 1 season ahead of schedule it will work out. We will get plenty of points from teams around us when we start to play them plus a few off top 6-8 sides as well chill out.
I think yesterday Amdouni and Jay, when on, were way too deep maybe following instructions but Tresor and Larsen both either put balls into a box full of Utd players and no Burnley or had to hold the ball until people got there and by then the chance was gone. As mentioned by a few when we signed him but I don’t think Amdouni is an out and out striker and doesn’t suit being up top on his own in my opinion anyway.

Re: We look so pretty on the eye
I'm hoping it clicks soon, the signs are there that we're getting better but we need to learn to defend better or it doesn't matter how pretty the football is.
Norwich came up playing good football that people enjoyed watching but we're too open and went down several times because of it, if we carry on as we are there's no doubt we are going down.
