A couple of the games about 25% of the crowd seemed to disappear before the 75th minute.

Good. It is what made Brit football the exciting leahues to watch. Now we have become the same as the rest. Boring for the most part.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
I remember going as a kid im the 80s when we were s*** most of the time and my overriding memory is the noise, songs and the banter with the players.
The grounds we visited were falling to bits and I remember going to one where their were no toilets and a copper found me a quiet wall (I think I looked like I was going to die from extreme bladder pain!).
These days football is expensive to watch and lots of people can't afford to go anymore and with it the atmosphere as suffered.
If they want more noise bring back terraces with 50% cheaper tickets in that area and they will get it. No need for a complete goon banging a drum somewhere at the back of a stand.

So presumably all the fans who came last season when the atmosphere was far better have now stopped coming as we have now been succesful and got promoted? The ground was sold out most of last season??

Average attendance in Championship last season was 19,776. A lot of day trippers for Championship. Again, have the fans who watched last year given up having seen such a succesful season? There are only so many seats available inside the ground, and whilst there may be some tourists, it will be less than 5%.

Would you like a drummer BC?
Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
I think the players and management could do with a drum ramming right up their collective @rses after that first half.
Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
They need a drummer to go with the rest of the turkeys.

Loud and clear on the radio
Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Of all the things we need right a Drummer isn’t one of them. REALLY BAD IDEA.

We didn’t sell all the tickets for every championship game to start the season though.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 10:22 amAverage attendance in Championship last season was 19,776. They have absolutely been bought from third parties. No doubt about it.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
In what way? I of course heard and joined in with the song for the 15 seconds or so, but you can’t ignore that most of our atmosphere in the second half was “we are the longside” in conjunction with lads banging a wall and or fence as a percussion instrument the whole time. Now tell me I’m wrong, but isn’t that a justification for the need for a drummer?fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 12:04 amI think the fans gave their response to the drum idea today.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Fans including me got behind the team all the match. But in prematch chat it was a unanimously stated that a drummer is total shite.
I will not contribute to a debate re early levers as I personally never leave early .

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Related observation after yesterday.
Somewhere earlier in this thread or the one about the email, someone had mentioned Brentford as an example to follow, with their use of pre match songs etc.
Well, yesterday, there was pretty much zero atmosphere from the home fans. They played a bunch of songs that everyone else plays - Hey Jude, Seven Nation Army, Free From Desire at the end - twirled their scarves around for 30 seconds, but no evidence that it did anything for the atmosphere during the actual match at all.
As for us, the singing pretty much stopped after Koleosho's miss because, well what else is there to say after that. Nice instance showing how tied to performance atmosphere is.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Crystal Pal fans seem to sing all through the game ,however after 10 mins you feel like telling them to put a sock in it,Leicester have their silly rattle type things that are also very annoying ,happen we should go back to the old fashioned rattles ,can’t put it into words what it sounded like but it was something like crrrrr crrrr crrr crrr crrr crrr crrr crrr crrr Burnley !
Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
No drum please consider your fans who suffer from tinnitus.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
I seem to recall a Vegas vs. Tony argument in this thread regards to the atmosphere at Arsenal.
I wasn’t there I’m afraid so can’t declare a winner of the debate.
Anyone care to let me know who was right?

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Didn’t know there was a debate about it, but the atmosphere was awful from both sides.
The most I heard Arsenal was when Wolves scored on the gantry. During the match a bit of “arsenal, arsenal” and “Tottenham get battered”.
Did hear a drum at one point second half but if it’s purpose was to improve the atmosphere then yesterday wasn’t a good advert for it.
Emirates is a lovely modern stadium but if padded seats and swathes of room in the away end is what modern football stadia are all about it is not for me.
I’m on the fence with the drum. Initial thoughts were absolutely not and I do hate them but thinking about it the main reason people don’t sing is because most don’t like singing on our own/embarrassing ourselves. When me & my son start songs together others always join in because we’ve loud voices and they don’t feel alone. But some don’t take off and you have to suck up the embarrassment! If a drum in some stands (Jimmy Mac for example) got them joining in with chants from the CFS/longside I think there’s some mileage in it.

Lots of people talking and walking to the game.StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 10:19 amAnd what was the atmosphere like on the walk to the ground?
Did meet one lunatic who was shouting “this is my north London. This is my Arsenal” on his own, like he was about to knife someone. Think he’d been let out of an asylum or something.
