Tony have you twisted that? The poster said we didn't deserve to lose and you posted he said he thought we deserved to win. That is clearly a misrepresentation is it not?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 6:40 pmI never applaud them off at home because I leave immediately but I find it hard to believe you thought we deserved to win.

Looks like a private message in Instagram, 'ballwithollie' posted it on twitter. Just shows support makes a difference, Trafford must have a thick skin

Beyer at the end is why I applauded and sang. He was upset at the error and held his hands up in apology. There was no lack of fight or desire today.

The atmosphere was generally good today and the fans got behind the team, even immediately after conceding the first. I was disappointed to hear boos at full time.

Its a little sad that the guy who runs this forum cant tell the difference between not losing and not winning but for someone so consumed by their own self opinion and importance its really not that surprisingClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 6:40 pmI never applaud them off at home because I leave immediately but I find it hard to believe you thought we deserved to win.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
Seriously what are our fans? God given right to be in the PL and if the team is struggling in the toughest league in the world then you won’t support them anymore by attending. Brilliant fair weather

Re: Clapping the player's off today
Every player put every once of effort they had into trying to win this game. They came up short, but they definitely deserved me clapping them off. Anybody who thinks that our team didn’t try their hardest and played for the shirt needs to give their heads a wobble.
Re: Clapping the player's off today
Surely attending every home game when the club is least successful then not going as often once in the PL is the opposite to being a fair weather glory hunter fan?
How would some of you lot cope under Cotterills reign, I fear the worst

And where does jumping on this board at 5pm on a Saturday to tear into Dyche after burnley lose fall under this definition of a “fair weather glory hunter fan” ?
Just wondering like.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
You know the season is dreadful when Cotterill is getting brought up as a barometer of one’s level of fandom.
Just need ‘87 Orient game for a full house now.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
It's ironic because you spent years saying the most awful things about Dyche and the players because you decided you didn't like the style of football, and openly admitted to not attending anymore.
Now, because you do like the style of football, you've had a personality transplant.
Just have a little bit, even just a teeny weeny bit, of self-awareness sometimes.

Now you’re just doing your usual thing of making stuff up for a petty argument. I went through spells with Dyche, like in his first PL season my gripe was with the boards lack of backing.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 10:32 pmAnd where does jumping on this board at 5pm on a Saturday to tear into Dyche after burnley lose fall under this definition of a “fair weather glory hunter fan” ?

good and honest manager trying his utmost to instill fight and confidence into his under fire team. A very young team at that, trying to find their feet in a cauldron of a division. A manager who understands what is needed, has a vision, and empathises with the supporters.
Overcoming this, he gets a fighting performance, those stats are relevant (although I hate stats) but when genuine fans see effort, it is rightly applauded. well done Burnley. well done VK.

Looks like it’s not just me who remembers it is it ?
Just own what you did rather than deny it. And when you call out fans for not getting behind the team now don’t be surprised to be reminded that there was nobody on this forum more critical of the most successful manager the club has had in decades than yourself.
Re: Clapping the player's off today
I own it, just stating the truth you don’t wanna hear. Let’s not act like I was slagging off Dyche after his first promotion. I wasn’t slagging off Dyche during the Stephens season farce either. You have selective memory.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 11:45 pmLooks like it’s not just me who remembers it is it ?

Yes we lost. Yes there were some errors again, but:
The lads are still young and learning, and they put a shift in today. The effort was there and that's what deserves supporting.

So you didn’t slag off Dyche for 2 out of 8 or 9 seasons

Re: Clapping the player's off today
I clapped them off as I thought they needed a bit of support after a fairly solid display.
Those booing after the second goal are thick as pig ****, as it was a hail Mary from O'Shea that gave them the goal.
Being a supporter is about getting behind the team wherever possible, and not slagging them off at every opportunity.

It was more than that, I was pretty balanced in my view overall, just vocal and you chose to just remember the negative opinion I voiced. I certainly gave him longer than 11 PL games.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 12:17 amSo you didn’t slag off Dyche for 2 out of 8 or 9 seasons

Re: Clapping the player's off today
I agree with your first part palace were quite happy to sit back & protect the lead but we were the only side looking to make something happen, well we had to but despite that the saves Johnson had to make it was really bread & butter stuff for him.
Re: Clapping the player's off today
If you didn’t you obviously didn’t watch the last 3 games because most of em put a shift in there

Re: Clapping the player's off today
The other reason for why to clap them off, on top of the 100 reasons already mentioned, is that they have had bloody bad luck from start to finish this season and I feel for them.
The injuries to many key players, the fixture list, the bad ref or VAR decisions and the benefits other teams have had (e.g. Forest are 1 pt and Bournemouth 2 pts better just from bad decisions against us alone, and yesterday Sheff Utd got handed 2 extra pts in the 100th minute for a penalty that wasn’t a penalty).

Because we played very well, with 1 mistake unfortunately disguising a performance that just lacked the end product

Re: Clapping the player's off today
Thought our young team performed very well and Yes, we deserved to win. I saw effort, sweat, skill and passion from my team yesterday and I also saw heart i.e Beyer - he was gutted !
We are close to getting it right and when key players return I am sure we will be fine.
I applauded my team off yesterday and also applauded our FANTASTIC Manager.
That is WHY

Was possibly a bit of a drunken overreaction on my part however I have already given my ticket away for 2 of the 3 games as I can't make them so it only leaves the West Ham game in 2023 anyway.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
I have no problem applauding these players off the pitch. I looked at the team sheet and knew this team was going to lose, I'm sure like many Clarets and the players.
But despite that I thought they came out and showed lots of willing, spirit and determination to win the game and never gave up. I thought there was 20 minutes against Everton in the first half where we looked like a real side.
And yesterday there was so much to applaud but the team selection was wrong and the lads had no chance of winning. Lots of players look like they are talented but are woefully short in so many areas. In particular, Amdouni who does not appear to have the experience to play the number 10 or advanced midfield role: both difficult roles. And of course Kolosheo, who has little end product.
The consequence was that we had very little end product and not much cohesion up front although we had enough of the ball that had we a quick player with a an eye for goal we may have nicked one but sadly Foster wasn't playing.
I just don't know how long you can go on playing like this against teams that barely seem to bother to get out of second gear to win.
I thought it was ironic that for most of the afternoon Everton were beating a much better team than Palace 1-0 with 18 per cent possession and we were losing to an out of form Palace side without their better players 1-0 with 65 per cent possession. Ultimately, it was better - much better - but still woefully short.
In answer to the question: why yesterday? I think it was because, collectively, we all now know the truth of the situation and yet the players showed a lot of willing and that deserves some response from the fans.
For some, it's taken far far too long to reach a conclusion that was painfully obvious from very early on but still I think the players have much to commend them.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
Not sure where I said we had a right to be in the PL and you are the last person who should be calling anyone when they say something negative.
I will admit I had been drinking when I made my original comment and it was a little bit of an overreaction. However we are so far from being competitive at this level it is frustrating and depressing. The recruitment in the summer was way off what was needed and the fact the manager persisted to keep Jay on for the full game when he was little more than a passenger all day was both baffling and infuriating.
Hope that clears it up.
