Re: Sander Berge
Agree with all the comments so far.
He really is coming to the forefront of our system. Quality in possession. I was excited by his acquisation as equally as I was disappointed by his first couple of months.
He'll be a key player in our fight for survival, if that is what it is.

Re: Sander Berge
No idea why it took us that long to move him into the pivot position in midfield but he's been outstanding since installed there. More to come too if he can become just a little more dynamic.

Re: Sander Berge
Absolute Rolls Royce of a midfielder. Joy to watch.
Re: Sander Berge
Been really enjoying his performances of late. He also looks like he’s enjoying his football. Looks a bargain at 12m.

Re: Sander Berge
The game seems to go into slow motion whenever he receives the ball. Quality player and exactly what we need in our midfield.

Berge is not a dynamic player. You can see that in the games he’s played.claretspice wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 5:56 pmNo idea why it took us that long to move him into the pivot position in midfield but he's been outstanding since installed there. Given time on the ball he can play in this ‘pivotal’ position as you call it.
The reality is that in too many games he won’t be given this time and I’m sure VK knows this.
You see him as a one dimensional player , I see him better than that

Was last week as well.
Even though we lost last week I loved watching him play. Classy is a word used above and describes him perfectly.

Re: Sander Berge
I think a mention for Amdouni is warranted too, he was very good indeed. I’d like to see us get him in the position where he scored from more. Taking momentum in to the box with his quick feet would cause any team problems . Good finish too.

Re: Sander Berge
Ran the whole show.
Marvellous!
If he can add a few goals to his game then we may have a player reminiscent of Martin Dobson.

Re: Sander Berge
Should be captain. In the first half when there player was down he got them all in a huddle and told each one of them what they should be doing. That’s the first time I have seen someone on the pitch take a grip if the team this season. Top player

Re: Sander Berge
Suggested him when he played in Genk.
Still, Sheffield paid 25M for him so out of our price range then.

Re: Sander Berge
He and Brun Larsen played some lovely stuff together in the first half.
Re: Sander Berge
I’m not sure how you get that Spice sees him as one dimensional, from his post. To be fair, Spice was banging Berge’s drum, in the deeper position at the outset.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 6:31 pmBerge is not a dynamic player. You can see that in the games he’s played.

Spice has been banging his drum but it only has one beat. Berge is much more than a deep position player as most can see

He was certainly strong though let’s not forget sheff utd may well be the worst team to grace the prem in 10+ yrs , simply awful side.

Re: Sander Berge
He has been outstanding in the last few games. I must admit that I did have my doubts at first but every credit to him, he has really improved.
Re: Sander Berge
He's far better without Cullen in the midfield.

Re: Sander Berge
I don't think saying that a player's best position is as a deeper midfield player rather than an advanced midfield player equates to saying the player is one dimensional, but everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Re: Sander Berge
Berge was quality today and has been for the last few games. I'm hoping that at some point this season he will get a run of games with Massengo next to him. Brownhill works hard and has a lot of energy but I think Massengo looks like a great prospect and him and Berge in the middle of the park could be a really good partnership.

Re: Sander Berge
Definitely, gets more time to play than with Cullen, Cullen a good footballer but not quite good enough for this league imo, needs to much time on the ball and gets shrugged off by the time he decides on he's pass, as was suggested by quite a few on the u21 thread, maybe massengo should be fast tracked to take cullens place in the squad, cos we've certainly looked a better outfit without Cullen, happy with Brownhill but need back up.

Re: Sander Berge
We've looked better without him and although a decent footballer, don't think he quite cuts it in this league.
