The chap who announces the teams
Is it just me who cringes listening to this chap when he reads the team out and introduces the lads back on in the second half?
I know it’s not important but I’m sure we could do better.

The guy who only welcomes back 'Burnley' for the second half?
It is cringeworthy, as you say.

It was worse when he used to shout Burnley and then whisper or mumble the opponents name.

Yes, find it very cringeworthy and disrespectful to the opposition

Re: The chap who announces the teams
They've not announced the visiting teams all season when the players have entered the pitch.
Re: The chap who announces the teams
I think it is disrespectful to the crowd. I would like to gear both teams announced. It doesn't stop me cheering the Burnley names.

Re: The chap who announces the teams
They do, but only once and that’s around 20-30mins before kick off.
If your not in the ground by then to hear it and because, for some reason we use the large screens to show a game that we are watching live so don’t display the team lineups and phone signal is crap, you have no idea who’s playing for the opposition
Re: The chap who announces the teams
We need to bring Pie and pea challenge back.
Wonder what became of that giant pie?

Re: The chap who announces the teams
Apologies if I’ve missed a ‘bit’ here but surely the chips is referencing the fact you had to chip the ball into the pie?
Re: The chap who announces the teams
I remember Preston getting complaints because the Burnley team wasn't read out correctlyclaptrappers_union wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 10:08 pmThey've not announced the visiting teams all season when the players have entered the pitch.

The players had to "Chip" the ball into the pie.... that's where the chips bit came fromdougcollins wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 8:22 amBizarrely, it was called 'Pie and Chips', though there were no chips present.
Re: The chap who announces the teams
Better entertainment would have been pie and pee, after a skilfull before the game who could "wet" the crust most .

Re: The chap who announces the teams
The teams are also only occasionally shown on the display boards which are usually full of adverts etc.
Re: The chap who announces the teams
I'm always in the ground 20 minutes before kick off and never once this season have I heard the the away team announced over the PA system.
Re: The chap who announces the teams
Who's the chap who's been announcer since the 90s? He's read the teams for decades so I've grown up to his voice but I literally know nothing about him. Quite the club servant really,

Jeff Brown is an odious turd.
Re: The chap who announces the teams
Ray Lott ( Lotty) was the best Especially when he used to read out Rovers HT score if they were losing.

The mascot penalty shoot out, cheerleaders, pie and peas challenge and they used to have kids playing a match on the pitch before the game, was that just fans having a kick about?

Leave the lad alone, if wasn't for him I'd have no idea it was Burnley coming out for the second half.
